I was looking for something in the area and got intrigued by the buche tacos because I've never seen them anywhere. All the tacos I got lacked flavor and were extremely underwhelming. It felt like a waste of a meal. I thought I was losing my sense of taste or something when I tried all of the tacos, because I could barely taste anything. It wasn't me though, it was the tacos. The horchata was bursting with flavor. One of the most flavorful horchatas I've had, ironically. Something else, they put salsa on your tacos without asking. I personally don't like that, because I'm particular about my tacos, but I know some people appreciate it. Also, they gave me tiny, dry limes that wouldn't even be enough for one taco, let alone three. I was the only customer too, so it wouldn't have killed them to give me better/more limes. BUCHE TACO: It was in chopped pieces. I thought it'd be more chewy, but it was just barely chewy. A little fatty. Pretty mild flavor. It was alright. You're not missing out on anything if you skip this. SUADERO TACO: Not very moist. Honestly, a bit dry. Mild flavor too. Some fatty bits. There's nothing worse than a dry taco lacking flavor, with no lime to help. BIRRIA TACO: I thought this would be the only safe option I chose. Nope. Mild flavor and underwhelming too. Even when dipped in the consomé, which cost an extra $3.50 because I didn't get a combo. They also didn't even ask if I wanted to get any consomé. I had to go back and buy it when I saw the taco didn't come with any. HORCHATA: Best thing I had here. Super flavorful. It tasted like there was a lot of vanilla in it though, which I thought was weird. I've never had horchata with vanilla and it didn't mention it on the menu. Stopped by Sabor Tapatio for lunch and ordered a pastor burrito. It was really good, well-seasoned meat, flavorful salsa, and everything tasted fresh. They've got a large menu with plenty of options, including breakfast, so there's something for everyone. It's a taco truck setup, but they have outdoor seating, which makes it easy to sit and eat right there. Good food, fair prices, and quick service. Highly recommend this taco truck. I tried the barbacoa, birria, bistec (steak) , and al pastor. The tacos were delicious and bursting with flavor. The bistec was by far my favorite taco. Been here a couple times now and apparently I wasn't a fan of the birria tacos when I first came here but I don't have a picture of them. This time, I got the Al Pastor Mini Tacos for $12. The mini tacos didn't look particularly filling, but they ended up filling me up by the end of the meal. It's a $12 meal though, so I guess that makes sense. The al pastor itself tasted okay but it was dry and overcooked by my standards. The tortillas didn't really come across as being heated up to me, which is another knock against my personal tastes. I really loved that there was a creamy salsa on the tacos already - right up my alley there! You do get a jalapeno, a juicy lime slice, and two salsa containers. Looks like I got a green salsa and an orange or orange-red style of salsa. I normally don't like orange salsas but this one both had spice AND tasted good enough for me to actually use it on my tacos. Overall, ok just about sums this place up. I can't say it's good, but I can't say it's bad. Staff here was lovely, btw. As an aside, Sabor Tapatio recently moved locations slightly and the seating area + parking are notably a bit worse overall - no more covered seating, but at least you get pavement I suppose. read more

Spent way too much time looking up a new taco truck to try. Found this lil gem on south Congress. They have a couple tables outside to sit and eat at. Tacos were amazing. I love that they include cebolla asada on the side. My favorite were the al pastor tacos - soooo juicy and flavorful. Partner loved the birria. We went here today and had a great experience. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco w extra bacon, one birria taco, and the five mini tacos with cheese added. What we got was good, but it could have been better if we got what we ordered :/ Instead of our breakfast taco I got a bean and cheese taco, and the mini tacos didn't have cheese. We definitely paid for the extra bacon and cheese. Obviously, we could have said something to correct the errors, but we didn't get a receipt so we just decided to eat the things we got lol. The birria is good but next time I will order the Quesa Birria instead of the birria taco. I like the juice! Good food, nice area to eat, nice people. I am solely updating this review because of the poor service my husband and I have just received from this place. I called to place a to go order. When the lady answered I asked for 3 tacos de bistek and 3 tacos de tripa. The lady on the phone said, we don't have tripa and I said, okay that's fine INSTEAD of that order, just give me the 5 mini tacos with 3 de bistek and 2 de Al pastor with a side of beans.. and again she said, oh we don't have beans. I then said that it was fine, just the tacos then, My husband then goes to pick up the tacos and calls me to ask what I ordered since it was $36 worth of food. I told him what I ordered, he checked and said they added a whole separate order. So he went to let them know what I had actually ordered. The guy and lady that were there were so rude to my husband, telling him that what they gave him is what I ordered and that was the end of it. To which my husband said absolutely not. The guy was very upset, practically yelling at my husband and making a scene. At the end of it, they returned $10. Which is ultimately fine. What I do not appreciate it the manner in which this was handled. The tacos may be good but it is not worth going back to a place that has no customer service. read more

I like supporting local restaurants and food trucks and I try to find something positive to say about my meal no matter what. Sabor Tapatio shares a space with Jimmy's Big Burger which I've enjoyed a few times and gave a positive review on Yelp. Unfortunately I cannot do the same for Sabor Tapatio. After studying their menu I ordered a Pastor Burrito. I have eaten hundreds of burritos in my time (seriously) and since their burrito was double the price of their tacos I expected a burrito that was much more substantial than their tacos but that's not what I got. Check the photo below - This is a taco in a flour tortilla. Using the size of the lime wedge and the usual hot sauce container for scale, there's no denying that this in no way resembles a burrito, yet that's what I paid for. This is a shame because the pastor filling was very tasty, the cilantro and other add-ons were fresh and tasty and a proper burrito of these ingredients would have made a fine meal. I'm not saying you shouldn't try this place, just be very sure of what you're ordering so you aren't as disappointed and still as hungry as I am. Addendum: they contacted me and admitted it was an unintentional mistake and offered to make it up to me. Very kind of them, I added another star and I look forward to a "reboot". Came here as per request of a friend. Didn't know this taco place was here but nice to know now. Because I was coming here for review purposes, I ordered four different kinds of my favorite tacos: Birria, Campechano, Bistek and Suadero. Of course, there was things I liked and things I didn't like, so here are my two cents: Things I liked: -It is Saturday evening and this place isn't packed beyond belief. -Food took about 10 min to be ready (fair amount of time IMO). -The Birria taco was SO good! -They give you a "Chile Toreado" (don't know how to say that in English), with every order which genuinely adds a nice kick to your meal. -The tacos were regular sized (not too big nor too small) -They were wearing masks this time (some past reviews of this place revealed that this is something they had to improve on). Now, let's move on to the things I think could improve: -I paid almost $20 for four tacos and a Mexican sprite. It's a little expensive to me (not crazy expensive but for a food truck it's high). -Although my Birria taco was delicious, the rest of the meats were lacking flavor. I am very particular on flavoring of meats and there was little to none on the meats. It was lacking salt amongst things that make a Mexican taco good. -Y'all need to wear disposable gloves when you handle food or containers where food will be placed. -Y'all need to pay more attention to detail: one of my avocados still had some avocado peel on it. -Too much onion on the tacos. I like a fair amount of onion but that was too much. In general, I would only come back to this place for Birria Tacos. Thats it. Thank you guys! read more
