It is set up like a Chipotale/Subway where you pick your items behind the counter to customize your perfect Mexican creation (taco, burrito, salad, or taco shell). Prices are pretty good, and you can make a vegetarian option as well. This is perfect for those looking to grab a quick meal that don't feel like going to On the Border or Margaritas! Food is still fresh and very tasty, line moves quickly even when it is crowded at peak dinner hours, and staff are generally friendly and courteous if a bit hurried. Restaurant is kept clean too despite being very busy at times. Can't go wrong here with a burrito, taco, or quesadilla. The only thing I might avoid is tilapia and that is just a personal preference. I wouldn't say this is the best Mexican food in Chester County but you can tell the proprietor cares about this place including the food he serves. read more

I was in the area with a work colleague for a training seminar, and we stumbled upon this place. Whenever I go to a new Mexican place, I have standard things I try. I get three different tacos with chips and guacamole. I've found that is a good cross section for any place like this. I enjoyed the pastor chicken tacos, the barbacoa, and the carnitas tacos highly. Great flavoring to all of them. The guacamole was very good. Maybe slightly better than some places, not as good as others. It holds its own. My colleague loved her tacos and told me the rice and beans were good but not the best she's ever had. Most definitely a solid 4 star choice. read more

Walking in-it's surprisingly colorful and clean! I was immediately welcomed, and asked what I wanted- specifically what I liked. Comical banter took place as I am sleep deprived, over eaten, and miles from home- I really just needed a nap! BUT I'm so glad my hubby found this place. We were 7 hours into our drive home and this was a close to the highway almost 5 star Mexican joint we thought to try. All cons! - counter style ordering - small and quaint location - friendly and fast service - fresh ingredients - "Chipotle" display style, better food. -endless options - fresh and tasty -appropriately priced -big clean bathrooms (baby counter in both M & F restrooms) -highchairs I ordered the Carne Sadas Taco salad- you can get whatever you want in it, and the shell was perfectly fresh and crispy! Taco Maya is an unassuming little establishment in an unassuming parking lot in an unassuming shopping center. However, resist all inclinations to make assumptions. The food inside is fantastic! Offerings are typical for a Mexican resturaunt...burritos, quesadillas, tacos, enchaladas, and tamales. The meat offerings are more interesting...carnitas, and several chicken and steak variations with different seasonings and preparations. You can choose your burrito extras..hmm, lettuce, tomato and onion, or pico, cilantro, and pepper? All toppings were very fresh and flavorful. I ended up with a chicken burrito- excellent- but the second trip to the counter starred a chicken with mole sauce tamale, which was excellent (3.50?).Additional chips and salsa were $2.75...I forget the prices of the burritos. Facility was really clean. Counter workers were friendly. Unfortunately, it is a few turnpike exits away, else it would be a new favorite for Mexican! read more

I just spent 9 years in Southern California where authentic Mexican was everywhere. I've been avoiding Mexican restaurants because I didn't want to be disappointed. But I really wanted tamales. I ordered the chicken, pork, and cheese/jalapeño tamales. The chicken and cheese tamales just didn't do it for me. The pork was ok. Not exceptional, but ok. By go to is the carne asada taco. It's the closest thing I've found on the east coast to. Baja California taco I can find (used to live in San Diego). My family and i love the food at taco maya and still do. Then the pandemic came. I ventured out to order and pick up food and we were craving taco maya so since we are staying home together we went to pick some up and get some fresh air. We went in and i was disappointed to see that they employees were not wearing their masks properly. The guy who made the food had it half on and adjusted it over his face with his glove and then proceeded to take our order. The next guy to finish the order did have a mask on. When we went to pay the lady had her mask on her chin. A couple other employees had their masks on their chins as well while walking around. Very disappointed.
