This place is one of the best Mexican food places I've eaten at. Overall the food is very fresh and full of flavor. I usually get 3 tacos as well as their chips made in house. Everything seems like it's made fresh and in house which is cool to see. The people that work here/ own this keep it super clean constantly cleaning up and making sure the restaurant is in order. The food was okay. The worst part was for everything you add they add 0.50c. They did not even add a few things like corn rice and added money to my bill. Got to be careful with these guys. I came here for the first time last night for dinner with my husband, dad, and our one year old daughter. We had a great time - the staff was wonderful and explained everything to us, they entertained my baby and the food was spectacular. If my son had his way, we would eat here very day! I was stuck on the chicken tortilla soup for a while (if you haven't tried, it make sure you get a container to go next time), but then tried a taco trio last time I was there. BAIT AND SWITCH! Don't buy into the hype of older reviews. This place WAS amazing when they first opened. We went there everytime we wanted burritos, tacos, etc. The past 2 times we have been in there recently it has been absolutely AWFUL. The quality of the food is suffering. The quantity is seriously diminished and the prices have sky rocketed. I think they realized how popular they were becoming and hiked up their prices and lowered their quality intentionally figuring the people will come anyway. We are never ever going back! New place in Exton. Prices are not bad considering the food is fresh and not processed. Menu is complicated, and needs some adjustments. I just hope that they use a little more seasoning. The chicken, and the pork taco was good, but the ground beef, just tasted like ground beef, no seasoning. I am hoping that once thay get some feedback that they work the kinks out. For those of you who visited this establishment back in March, give it another try. My husband and I dined there several months ago and were underwhelmed by the service and the food. However, after hearing good recent reviews from friends and family we decided to give it another try for lunch today. I have to say it was like walking into a completely different restaurant. It's our favorite take out place. My husband, daughter and I love the burritos, and we previously use to go to Chipolte. We're pretty much there weekly. We like the food a lot obviously, and also supporting a local non-chain business. Have had probably every type of filling for burrittos, and had the tacos as well. I can honestly say taco maya is the absolute best place around to grab a burrito or bowl. Chipotle qdoba and burrito loco all fall short of taco maya. My companies office is in the corporate center next door and I was eating taco maya every week. Everything they cook is super fresh with tons of flavor I highly recommend trying the barbicoa. The owner is also a super nice guy if you get a chance to talk with him and the corn chips are the freshest and tastiest of all the local taco joints. I have a client in the Downingtown Area. About a year and a half ago, I left their office in the late evening. Before getting onto the PA Turnpike, I decided to look for some food. My GPS had actually stated the location was a burger restaurant. When I got there, I noticed it was not a burger restaurant. Even though it was not, I decided to see what they sold. When I went inside and started asking questions about the food and options, the owner and/or manager offered me samples. Unlike taco places that I had eaten at before, there were many choices of meat and seasoning. Each sample was really good. I tried three different tacos. They were all really good. I am always telling my family about Taco Maya. Since I live about 1 hour from there, they have not tried it yet. When I am in the area for that client, I try to stop and get the 3 tacos meal. I wanted to try some of the other menu items, but really like getting three different flavored meat tacos. The employees are friendly. Every time that I have been there, the restaurant and restroom have been clean - that shows employees and management that care. I was there tonight and found out they are moving to a new location nearby. I was concerned since I do not know the area that well and the current location is on my way home. The owner was friendly and pointed out to me where they were moving - not far from the current location. That area has many restaurants, but Taco Maya stands for the really good tasting food that is served quickly. I highly recommend eating there. read more

I gave this place a shot a week after they opened. I love Mexican food, so I wanted it to be good...unfortunately, everything about the experience was pretty terrible. First, the menu is much too long for a take out Mexican restaurant. This is generally an indication that they do a lot of different things here, but there probably isn't one thing they do very well - this proved to be correct. Between the Burritos and Tacos sections of the menu alone, there are a total of 18 items listed, but in reality, there are only 2 separate items - the taco and the burrito. Most mexican restaurants that I frequent that have a menu of burritos and/or tacos usually include the ingredients for each named item, making each one unique. Even Taco Bell does this (not that I consider that to be authentic Mexican food by any means). At Taco Maya you order a burrito or taco, then they ask you to specify all of the ingredients that you want (I guess this is supposed to be like Qdoba or Chipotle - way to differentiate your business, guys!). The problem is that the options are all the same for every type of burrito or taco. This means that whether I order ground beef or fish, I'm left with the same (pretty basic) options (or "add-ons") of lettuce, tomato, etc. which means that everything pretty much tastes the same..btw each of these "add-on" costs at least $.50 extra per item. Unfortunately for me, I ordered the fish taco, which, unlike a good mexican restaurant that would have used some sort of shredded cabbage and fish specific sauce, was made with soggy lettuce and tomato just like the beef, pork, or chicken tacos. The second item I ordered was a pork tamale. I love tamals, but this one was unlike anything I have ever had. I expected the standard corn meal tube stuffed with spiced pork. What I got was a 5 inch piece of rib bone and cartilage caked in dried out corn meal...no meat in site on this thing. When the owner saw me throw it in the trash in disgust, I was not offerered an apology or a refund but rather was given the explanation that what I was served was an authentic Mexican tamale, bone and all. Authentic or not, there must be a reason that no other Mexican restaurant serves tamales like this. My final gripe with this place is that the staff seemed (for lack of a better phrase) too "authentic". We both had a very difficult time understanding each other throughout the enture ordering process. The owner and one other staff member who spoke fluent english were able to help complete the order. read more
