The food and service have definitely gone downhill her at the East Broadway location. The potato ole's never disappoint....but man the taco and burrito.....not good. --- and they didn't even offer me any hot or mild sauce. The employee in the drive thru was more worried about being a TikTok star and posting his next video. Needs a ton of improvement before I go back there..... read more

I tried the Beefy Loaded Cheddar Crunch taco. It's basically their version of the chalupa I think. Haha it was pretty decent. I think it would of been better with the chicken club toppings. But I ain't mad at it. Worth a try. Potato Oles were bangin, hot and seasoned well. I used the drive thru, they were friendly and didn't forget my hot sauce. The place looked clean from the outside. read more

Ordered beefy taco bravo's and got taco bravo with nothing. Asked for hot sauce and got nothing. Might think to order from taco hell aka Taco Bell. No customer service read more

I had to leave the house early today so I was pressed for time. Decided to try Taco Johns breakfast menu. I got the 2 Junior burrito combo with the potato oles. Identical to the lunch and dinner menu potato oles were hot and tasty. I wish I could say the same about the burrito. They were soft and flavorless. Even the hot sauce couldn't save them. I will go elsewhere for breakfast in the future. read more

Taco John's - Potatoe oles - Mexican Near Me - Council Bluffs, Iowa

The service here is impressively terrible. Workers were yelling at each other the whole time and were complaining about getting orders wrong. The worker who was taking orders at the front was also very rude and had a bad customer service attitude the whole time. Made me feel like an inconvenience to even be there. Was the only person in the lobby and still waited over 20 minutes for my food. At the same time they also seemed understaffed so that may have fueled their fire. Do better Taco John's. Won't be back and won't recommend this location. read more

A very friendly staff, clean, quick service, and always good food. If you are looking for good fast food Mexican in Council Bluffs, this is a go-to every time. read more

I am not a fan of Taco John's and my last visit a couple days ago is definitely why. I've only eaten at any Taco John's a couple times, I like Taco Bell more, I just do. My wife loves Taco Johns though. We stopped by and ordered some items to go, the cashier, who was nice, asked us two-three times if it was for there or to-go. We said to-go and that we were still looking at the menu and we'd let her know when we were ready. She asked again if it was for there or to-go, a little annoying. My wife and I ordered our food and grabbed our number and waited for our food. We waited about 5 minutes or so, the wait wasn't long at all, and the lady comes out with our food on a tray, and asked if it was to-go and I nodded and she went back and put our food in bags. After being asked so many times if it was for there or to-go, I assumed that they knew, but not a huge deal. We checked our bags for the items, all was there, so my wife and I went home. After eating my fish taco, I opened up one of my other items, an almost $4 crispy chicken and potato burrito. I opened it up and it was beef, gross. I called TJ and after ringing about 15 times, someone finally picks up the phone. I let them know what happened and they asked me to go back. Such an inconvenience since I was already in 'home-mode' with my jammies. I drive to TJ and let them know what happened. They kind-of apologized and I received my burrito after another 5 minutes of waiting. They made other people's orders first and then they started on mine; I think they should have made my single burrito a priority, but evidently not. After the wait, they gave me what I initially ordered with no incentive at all. No free drink, no free potato ole, nothing. For the trouble, time, and gas that I had to spend to drive all the way back, I wasn't fishing for anything, but I assumed that they would at least offer, but nothing at all. Bad customer service. With this experience, and for the sheer fact that I think their food is crap, besides their potato ole's which are awesome, I won't be coming back to Taco John's. read more

I remember when taco John's first came into Council and Bluffs they were great the food was excellent the owner was always at either store either the east or west but now as it is changed owners the food has been greatly up charged and not as good and smaller portions not happy they'll only for the specials read more

We love Taco Johns and this location is always super friendly and the service is fantastic. The quality of the food is doesn't disappoint. What bumped this into the 5 star range is how friendly he manager is. When we are there with our kids. She is always so helpful and just makes you feel at home when you are dining in. This Taco Johns is doing it right! read more

It is what it is, man. I'd much rather eat Taco John's Super Burrito than Taco Bell. Bottomless refills and a Salsa bar. read more

Picked up food in drive thru. Got home and they forgot one of the meals. I called and they said I could come get it...i explained I lived across town and asked if they could use Door Dash...the lady said she couldn't do that...she took my name number and address and said she would get them to me. It's been 2 weeks and I have heard nothing from them. Curious, the point of taking my info read more

Taco John's - Lunch with a new phone finally - Mexican Near Me - Council Bluffs, Iowa

Consistently the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Out of the ten times I've been here, the food is always great but employees and rude and glare at me for ordering! One day I waited for 15 minutes for an order of potatoe olays. And I was only the second car in the driveup. Another time I could hear the driveup lady cussing and freaking out on someone before practically throwing my order at me. Today, I was thinking about what to order and the lady just stood and glared at me. Then we I did order, she interrupted me like I was stupid multiple times. I didn't get a thank you or a smile. Ridiculous! read more

even though taco bell was the beginning of my mexican food experience, save for the tacos we had at home with old el paso taco shells, this is my favorite mexican fast food place. usually it's the chicken softshell taco and the potato oles (mmmm ... potato oles) for my fix. too bad taco johns hasn't moved to the west coast. read more

I love Taco john's. Their food is always hot and fresh, and very tasty. This particular location, however is SLOW. I think it's because they're always looking for employees. But the service, despite how slow it is, is always very polite. I'll eat here again. read more

Taco Johns is far superior to Taco Bell in every way. While I cannot say what Taco Bell does and does not do, this fast food restaurant makes their own shells in house and serves up a taco meat that has so much more flavor than its competitor. Beyond simply the tacos alone, Taco Johns has something the bell cant touch: the potato oles. These are little round fried potato things that look like what you might imagine a tater tot would look like if it were cut in half. The seasoning, while probably nothing more than a standard seasoning salt, really goes well with them and ties it with the flavor of the tacos as well. The only con is that you will end up spending more here for tacos than at the bell, but it is not that much more at all. While taco tuesdays no longer give you two tacos for a buck, they are still at a reduced price of 69 cents (and they are well worth it!) read more

Ok This is not Mexican Food! I probably should have known when they compare it to Taco Bell. I think my daughter could make better Mexican food and she doesn't even cook. The street tacos are not worth the money. The tortillas bearly have a tint of warmness to them. The bean burrito is nothing but canned Rosarita beans. Don't get me started on the "Salsa bar". I believe Katchup at my house is hotter than this. You guys need a place out here that can show you what Mexican food is all about, because this isn't cutting it read more

I've been coming to this TJ's for a while now. It happens to be my bestie go-to spot and I'm usually dragged here whenever we hang out. Their food (taco and potato oles) are always tasty. I haven't ventured out too much at this location, but one time I got the super potato ole and it was just a mess of food that I wouldn't get again. This is a good place to go for quick Tex-Mex. read more

What can you really say it's taco John's of course they are a bit more expensive than taco Bell located almost directly across the street but there is always way better quality. I like Taco John's food, but the employees are so disrespectful. There's a famale who works at the Taco Johns on the East end of Council Bluffs, and she was cussing up a storm saying "ni**er" and "bit*h". It wouldn't have been as bad if my two and four year old kids weren't standing right there! She had brown hair, braces, and was very rude! Her name tag said Sheyanne I think. I dont remember. But she wasnt respectful at all, and she really irritated me. next time I go, I'll be sure to let a manager know, or I just won't go to that Taco Johns anymore read more
