It's been a long time since visiting Doozies, but their ice cream is just as I remember: Super rich and very filling! They have a drive thru option now which makes ordering a breeze. The prices are a little cheaper than other ice cream places I've been too which was nice. Service was polite and helpful when I asked for daily flavor options. I didn't go inside this time, but there is ample space to sit to eat inside, as well as a few spots outside. I'll be back to try a hot meal and new ice cream favor next time! read more

Stopped here for lunch and really enjoyed it! Super clean and modern diner ambiance. I had the patty melt with onion rings. The hubs had a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The girls split a cheese burger because they wanted a burger but there wasn't one on the kids menu. Afterward, we enjoyed some ice cream. I love that the ice cream counter is separate from the food ordering because it makes everything fast and smooth. The hardest part was choosing from all the amazing flavors. I went with my classic single scoop of cotton candy in a cake cone because, honestly, I am basically five years old at heart. My husband stuck to his usual double scoop of butter brickle in a waffle cone, which he claims is the best butter brickle in the metro area. My dad went with Just Peachy in a cake cone, and everyone was happy. The only tiny hiccup was my cone being a little stale and missing the little paper wrapper like my dad's had...which I didn't realize mine was missing until I saw him ripping his off! What an adorable place! Of course you must come for the icecream but the food was also so yummy! You get the 50's diner vibes as each table has a personal (non working) jukebox. The onion rings were light and crunchy. The burger was perfectly cooked. The kids hotdog was split in half making it easier for the little one to eat. It was my granddaughters birthday so they made her a sundae with sprinkles to make her day special. The icecream cones were super yummy! Be sure to save room! I stopped by Doozy's in Council Bluffs today. I've never really been inside before, but I've had their food once and it was really good. This time I went specifically for ice cream for me and my son. I got the Sinful Chocolate and he got the Peanut Butter Cup. Both were really good. The Peanut Butter Cup had great flavor, and the Sinful Chocolate was thick, rich, and creamy. Classic burger, fries, chicken sandwiches, etc. The decor/signage was maybe a little overstimulating which resulted in me asking a lot of questions to the woman at the counter, who was very warm and helpful. It's remarkable how a person like this elevates a normal dining experience and makes me want to return. I got a patty melt with fries and a root beer float. My daughter got a chicken sandwich. We were happy with the food. They use soft serve ice cream in the float which I don't love. My daughter got a scoop of the hard-pack ice cream which was excellent! The shakes are delicious (our daughter randomly ordered a hot fudge shake the other day and it just might be the best shake I've ever tasted), the burgers are great, my husband loves the chili dog, when it's the special, the pork tenderloin is next level, and their ice cream flavor variety is so good! The toasted coconut and butter brickle flavors are my favorites but you really can't go wrong. And the kids chicken tenders are are actually good chicken, not just something that was frozen and reheated. read more

We love trying local spots on vacation! And Doozies proved to be a fun local diner type experience. Visiting in October, they had a fun, spooky themed menu. They took pride in their dining room with frequent cleaning, even during the lunch rush. Service was great! All the ladies with whom we interacted were helpful and kind. TIP: try their Doozie sauce! It was a mayo, mustard, ketchup type of mixture, but it had an acidic kick to it too. Yum! I would typically anticipate the grilled chicken at this 'quick burger & fries' type of place, to be dry and not very flavorful. But boy was I wrong! This chicken breast had an herb flavor (yum!) and it was totally juicy! (Just a heads up - when we visited, their bathrooms were clean, but somehow a little stinky.) Service was ok. We came when this was owned by someone else so decided to check it out now. I got the single cheeseburger combo which comes with a side and a fountain drink or you can pay extra and get a shake or malt. Didn't see that until after so I ended up with a fountain drink and a milkshake. We were taking the food to go and they gave us a drink carrier which was good. The bad, spoon in the sundae and no cover for it. Had to ask for one. The second associate gave us a new spoon at least so I didn't have to lick the other one. That was good as it was someone else's sundae :) The food is average. I didn't like the cheeseburger. Flavorless and a grey color in the middle of the patty. The fries were limp and not hot. He said the double patty burger was a lot of meat so that's good. Milkshake meh. I guess I'd go again for ice cream as while we were there most people came for that. But not for food again. I've heard of Doozies fairly often but didn't really know what or where it was until I spied it in the Lake Manawa area. I decided to stop in. They have a walk up window outside(cards only) with a couple of tables and chairs. Inside it's bright and colorful, not just loads of white that seems so common in ice cream shops. But this is more than an ice cream shop, featuring burgers, fries, rings, sandwiches, and salads among other things. I was here for the ice cream. The owner asked me if she could sort of give me a menu tour since I was a newbie which was fine by me. The menu includes flavors of homemade ice cream such as sinful chocolate, raspberry chip, vanilla bean and others. These are served in a dish or cone with tennis ball sized scoops-- enormous! They also have soft serv for sundaes, malts, shakes, and mixins plus more. My tastebuds told me to order chocolate and coconut on a cone, so I did. Both were delicious, but truthfully I should have just had one scoop and planned another visit. That was a lot of ice cream and on a hot day, it got to dripping. I especially enjoyed the coconut flavor with the bits throughout. Now that I know how easy it is to find, I'll be coming back with Bookguy to try more than just ice cream. read more

Yummy food and great homemade ice cream - tho always runs out of the best flavors ex: Cherry Nut. BUT -- the customer service at the drive thru really stinks. They respond at the mic by asking you to hold on for a moment, that usually turns more into almost 5 min. I know they make food fresh and made to order, which is awesome, BUT that line gets sooooo backed up due to exceptionally looooong waits. There are "pick up spots" just in front of the store, where they COULD direct waiting cx to pull forward (like other places do) and have one of the many MANY employee's run your food out to you at that spot once it is ready. That way folks that are only waiting on quick items, such as ice cream, won't be waiting for 30 min or longer, due to food orders in front of them. Even if you do have just an ice cream order, once you arrive at the window to pay - where they also hand you your order, you are STILL waiting at least 10min or longer. This place is disgusting. My girlfriend and I tried this as our new place for the week and we will never go back. I had a burger and she had a pork tenderloin and neither were cooked correctly. The onion rings had either been sitting around forever or cooked in bad grease. The onions were mush and the breading was hard. We had a couple bites each of our sandwiches and left them on the table. Thank god for the fries or we would've left as hungry as we went in. The ice cream wasn't even good. How is that possible? My family and I ate there on 5/24/25. We ordered 4 burgers, 3 as platters. Two came out wrong. One was supposed to be plain, it was loaded with everything. My son and husband switched buns so my son could avoid the sauce. My burger was supposed to be mayo only, extra lettuce, no bun. It was a regular amount of lettuce, LOADED with doozie sauce ( grossly sweet). Anyhow, my burger had this brown coloring and seemed to have a weird filler like ground oatmeal or breadcrumbs. I have a very restrictive diet. With the sugared up sauce and God knows what in the patty, it was absolutely inedible. I contacted tgem as no ingredients list was available online. I was told " no fillers", that's a straight up lie! I have eaten enough meat and prepared enough food to know otherwise. The food took a long time to come out, so "sending it back", was not an option. Also, we do not appreciate the "tip spin", forcing us to leave a tip. We did tip 15% by the way! Doozies is a hidden gem. If you live in the greater Omaha area, it is worth the jump across the Iowa border. I travel to Omaha about once a month and always make time for Doozies. You expect just a fast food burger, but what you end up with is a giant double patty burger fresh off the grill with an excellent house sauce. The vibe is really neat as it mixes 50s diner with an eclectic/artsy atmosphere. The ice cream is also top tier. There are very few places that make malts anymore and even fewer places that have butterscotch as a flavor, and so to find a place that I can get a butterscotch malt really makes my day. Typically employees are high school/college kids that are always friendly and fast with service too. If this joint was more central to Omaha I wouldn't doubt it to be packed! read more

I grabbed an ice cream cake for Father's Day and it was excellent! For the flavors, I went with peanut butter fudge and vanilla ice cream. It was a great combination and the cake looked pretty too. I saw that there was a new ice cream joint in CB by Lake Manawa so I jumped at the opportunity to go with a couple friends. It's a smaller place with only a few tables inside and a few outside. They advertise 'homemade ice cream', which I initially thought to be locally sourced and whatnot, or at the very least, they buy the raw ingredients and turn them into ice cream, and their 'homemade' ice cream is neither. I talked to them and they basically save Anderson Erickson money by purchasing all of the ingredients separately from Anderson Erickson, (and another company), and they combine the ingredients themselves to make 'homemade' ice cream - a small bit of false advertising in my opinion. It definitely knocked my excitement down a couple pegs. I ordered a patty melt and fries for me and a grilled cheese for my daughter, (cheat night for her). The prices were a little higher than I wanted them to be. I mean, $9 for a patty melt and fries? A little high. I asked if I could purchase chicken tenders without fries and they said they couldn't because it wasn't programmed into the system yet. Come on guys, I know you are knew but you have to get your POS's, (point of sale systems), ready. The customer service was great. All employees were really nice. It appeared that all food was made to order. It took about 10 minutes to get our food. The patty melt was really good. A tad messy since they put on their 'doozies' sauce, (which is just a sweet ketchup/mayonnaise mixture). But the grilled onions were awesome. Caramelized just right. My daughter's grilled cheese sandwich was pretty nice for being $2.90. A few slices of white and yellow cheeses. Pretty good value. The ice cream, even though not truly 'homemade', was pretty good.
