This place is a great place for a shake. Especially the seasonal peach shake- DEFINITELY worth a stop. Typically I get soft tacos or a burrito but today I decided to try the big amigo, burger combo. Good deal for the price. The fries are similar but better than McDonald's. Burger was cooked perfectly, with right amount of Fixin's -- good burger. Good not great. But, I love that this place has a family photo on the wall. I'm giving an extra star for being family run and consistently great shakes. I like to support family room businesses. I have been coming to taco amigo since my high school days. (2002-2004) and it's still my favorite whenever i come back to Utah and visit. I always get the cheese burrito which is now the cheese melt but it's like a burrito with their taco sauce and their fries and pink sauce. I honestly wish I had something amazing to say about Taco Amigo but I just don't haha. I ordered the enchilada today but on previous occasions, I have ordered burgers and fries and have never been super impressed. I think their fries are much better than McDonald's fries but the burgers are honestly worse. I'm a sauce girl through and through, too, so the fact that they only have fry sauce, taco sauce, and ketchup is heartbreaking for me (although their fry sauce is definitely on my list of favs). The service is also just OK. I tried to ask the cashier what some of the menu items had in them, and he had no idea. I would expect that my cashier knows the menu well enough to tell me whether something comes on a corn or flour tortilla, but maybe he was new. Ultimately, I'm not dying to come back nor would I ever suggest it to a group of friends for lunchtime or any other get-togethers but I wouldn't say no to it if my friends were all going and wanted me to come along. read more

We've searched high and low for the best shakes in the county and Taco Amigo has landed as our #1 shake spot! It took us so long to try this place because we could never trust a restaurant with tacos and burgers on the same menu. Finally, in a desperate effort to find Utah County's greatest shake, we stopped in to give this place a try. We were so surprised, and so pleased to find the best shake in Utah County here! Best of Utah Valley awards has finally announced what we already knew. These guys know how to make a shake! With a great vanilla or chocolate base, you can add a variety of mixins to create your perfect ice cream heaven. Our recommendation though? The seasonal fresh shakes! We dream about the fresh strawberry shake all year long and the fresh peach shake in the fall is the best peach shake we've tried anywhere. The fries are shoestring fries and they have a pretty good fry sauce to go along with them. The burrito was pretty small, especially for the price, so that was disappointing. But the flavor was pretty good--would be pretty hard to mess up chicken, cheese, and hot sauce. My sister got the chicken enchilada. It also was pretty good, but was very small. I probably would've given this place a 3 star review because it was nothing special, but what brought it to a 4 star for me was the fresh strawberry shake. WOW. Came hear after hearing rave reviews about the peach shake. Did it live up to the hype? Definitely! It turned out better than I thought. I also ordered their bean and cheese burrito. The tortilla just tasted like it was made out of just flour and water- made for an interesting textured tortilla. I liked it, but was it was different for sure. I also kinda wish it was a little warmer. The tortilla was cold and the cheese inside wasn't melted at all. Feel like it would have made it slightly better that way? I went into this place not expecting much - but I was way wrong. Taco Amigo is simply awesome. My friends (Steve, Ron, Ben, Cam, Jeff, Conklin and Goose) all went in and had our minds blown. The service was amazing. Food was hot, fresh and served quickly with a smile. Seating area was super clean and well appoint. Bathrooms were spotless. Where has this place been all my life! The Big Amigo burger is satisfying and a great value. Tacos (hard/soft) are available in corn or flour. Meat is well seasoned and the toppings are endless! French fries are 1st rate as well. Try the shakes too. My friend Goose said it changed his life. There was a very steady stream of customers from varying ethnicities which tells you this place means businesses and serves well portioned and tasty options. Try Taco Amigo in Orem or Pleasant Grove. I am fine with low quality Mexican fast food, but if it's going to not be that great then it needs to be a looooootttt cheaper. 2 stars for food. The one redeeming quality of this place are the fresh fruit shakes. They manage to earn back a star for those. I got the strawberry shake and thought it was great! While the restaurant was well staffed, the staff was less than responsible, respectable or timely. Our visit started with multiple staff members playing jokes with our receipts and credit card. Those members then laughed while watching us sort through the stack of receipts they gave us. After waiting for a long time, trying to get staff members attention through the window, we were told our shakes were ready but then that they still had our credit card. It was not ours but another patron's lost credit card. After this long, messy interaction we did not get any of the right shakes. read more

Having seen multiple locations around, my wife and I figured we should check it out! Our friends had said the shakes were really good and they lived up to the hype. The rest of the food however brings the rating down to 1 star. We were expecting an authentic Mexican street taco type restaurant and were shocked to find the most Americanized restaurant. The only way to describe it is overpriced school lunchroom tacos. The tortilla was cold and straight out of a Walmart package, the meat was ground beef seasoned with not enough American style taco seasoning, the cheese was cheap shredded cheddar straight out of the bag and the "salsa" was essentially dell taco hot sauce in a cup. The fries and fry sauce which I heard were the best fries in Utah were abysmal. Lightly salted is an understatement and the fry sauce was WAY too heavy on the mayo. We really wanted street tacos. Our go-to street taco place was closed, and Taco Amigo was nearby. We should have kept driving. The excuse for a taco was chicken, lettuce and shredded cheese. There was no seasoning on the chicken and no sauce in the taco. The hot sauce was tomato puree. The slogan on their website reads "Welcome to the family. " blah blah blah "and most importantly--that you're treated like one of the family." ...why hast thou forsaken me, Taco Amigo? Last but not least, why are there so many five star reviews? The real food? Not so good. Note to fast food restaurant owners: Don't try and do Mexican AND burgers. Not a great choice. But their fresh fruit shakes. The fries taste great. It was my first time going here. I asked the ady what was good she said the fries and the bean and cheese burrito. How are the Taco (hence the name) she said there ok but most people get the burritos and fries. So went with there recommendation, we waited for our food for almost 20 minutes, when we got them all the food was cold. Tacos here are so good. They are pretty quick when you order in the store and the drive through just a little slower than if you had to wait for your food inside. They have a good variety of items to choose from with burgers or tacos. I love the meat burrito and add sour cream. They also have really good nachos! Their hot sauce is also perfectly hot and not overly spicy. If you go at the right time of year the peach shake is amazing and so is the raspberry shake. Unfortunately I was disappointed today when I want and I hope it was just a random flop for some reason...but the fresh peach shake didn't taste so fresh. It almost had a fake bitter flavor that I wasn't a fan of. It wasn't gross, but was nothing compared to how good they've been in the past! For the first time, I didn't keep craving another bite. Taco Amigo has been a favorite of mine since I was in high school. We still always go down to the different location and Pleasant Grove and hang out as high school kids. Things to definitely try are the cheeseburgers, the bean and cheese burrito, their fries are small or giant. Definitely share a large fry. One thing on their menu that is delicious is the root beer freeze, I love to ask him to make a dr. pepper freeze. Don't forget the fry sauce. They have some of the best around. read more

One of my only complaints would be that they only have one type of hot sauce that isn't spicy at all, it would be nice if they added different types of sauce. I was so impressed I had been craving them and got some at the orem location (because it's closer to my house). Unfortunately I felt like I went to mcdonalds.
