    Birria

I heard that don chuy's was offering Birria items so I had to stop by to try for myself!!! I ordered the bundle they offer with 3 birria queso tacos with the consome. The plate also came with limes and a cilantro onion topping. It was soooo good!! The cheese in the tacos was incredible, the birria meat was perfectly tender, and the consome dip added an incredible flavor. I would 100% recommend this to everyone!! I also love the $3 breakfast burrito deal before 11am. They are so good it's such a steal.

This place is not worth your money.

This place is not worth your money... I ordered the shrimp and found them to be over cooked and lacked flavor. I also got their special frozen horchata and it turned out to be a vanilla milkshake with cinnamon

This place has some of the best Mexican food in Utah county. Their prices are hard to beat and they usually have some sort of special that makes it easy to get full for cheap. They have a lot of unique menu items like burritos that contain hot Cheetos and frozen horchata. They also have a stellar salsa bar. I am happy to see they keep opening new locations!

My wife and I came by on a Tuesday night, and found out they have quite a good deal Taco Tuesday meal, street tacos are $1.25 each, and steak tacos are included in that deal. My wife loves birria so she got the birria plate, which was very generous portions and came with the birria, beans, rice and corn tortillas. Before I get to the food, their salsa bar is great with green, red and avocado salsa, and limes and the pickled carrot stuff. And the horchata is all you can drink, and is AMAZING, probably the best horchata I've had thus far. The tacos were great, the birria plate was great too, and the portions were enough for us to take home about half of it. On Tuesdays, this is the place I'm coming to from now on.

What are the best 3 words you can say to someone? That's right...you guessed em! Pork. Adobado. Nachos. Our favorite is sold here! We used to live just around the corner from this place and we are so sad we can't get our pork adobado fix anytime we want because truly, we are in love with this succulent pork with the most amazing marinade. Their large size is under $10 and fed us both! Their carne asada quesadilla is good, what you would expect from a quality taqueria. We have also tried their breakfast burritos, not pictured here, which are just $3 each!! What the whaaaaat?! They are so yummy! Check out their salsa bar, and don't skip out on their guac salsa or Pico!

Don Chuy's Taco Shop is a solid quick service joint in Provo. Coming from somewhere where Mexican food is the forte (Los Angeles), it was fairly good. Parking is very easy to find, and the wait time for food is not long at all. I would highly recommend paying with cash, you get a discount! I ordered 4 carne asada street tacos. They come with the standard two tortillas per taco, the asada, and cilantro + onions. Don Chuy's also has a salsa bar, you can find 4 different types of salsa with varying heat levels, and as many lime slices as you please! It was... not that filling, and I expected the tacos to be a little bigger, but overall it was worth the $10 price tag. Also, you can get free refills on your drinks, so I ordered an horchata and refilled it whenever! Check out Don Chuy's!

    Birria ramen

I was really looking forward to some Birria Ramen, but the noodles were super tough, and the portion size was smaller than I was expecting for the price. The onions and cilantro seemed old. The salsas they have on the side tasted very old and some of them even tasted rotten. We also got street tacos with carne asada and carnitas. The carnitas were almost flavorless, and the carne asada dry and chewy. Most of the food just seemed old and reheated, and the quality was entirely lacking. The only good thing was the horchata was really good. Unfortunately, we will definitely not be coming back here ever.

First time here. Stars because i got their $1.69 chicken taco special and it was really good! Its just shredded chicken, cheese, and lettuce on a crunchy taco. If you add the guacamole sauce it tastes better. I got the torta (looks like a sandwich) as well and it was ok. I wouldn't buy it again because the bun was really soft and wet on the bottom but the chicken was good. The people were nice and helpful.

I was happy to find a restaurant open late on a Saturday that wasn't McDonald's. Don Chuy's is right next to BYU campus and easy to get to. We went in at around 1 AM on a Saturday night and were the only ones in the place. My SO and I both ordered 3 of the Carne Asada Street Tacos to go, mine with no onion or cilantro and add cheese. I'm forever disappointed that taco shops in Utah don't use Queso Oaxaca on their tacos like the ones where I'm from do... The tacos were just okay. I would give them a 6.25/10. The tortillas were very good, but the meat wasn't fresh and the cheese was meh.

This space has changed hands quite a few times over the years, and was most recently Emanuel's, which I wasn't a huge fan of. When I saw today that Don Chuy's was open, I pulled over into the parking lot and found it pretty packed with customers. Although I'm a big fan of tacos and burritos, I asked was I should get and was recommended the #20, the carne asada and camarones plate (steak and shrimp). It came out in less than 5 minutes, during which time I grabbed salsas, limes, and onions from the salsa bar. I was not so impressed with the beans and rice, which were both quite dry and a little sub-par for what you'd expect from Provo Mexican restaurants. I did enjoy the hot, housemade tortillas. They were plenty chewy, which is my favorite. The shrimp was alright: about what you'd expect for a landlocked state. They didn't taste super fresh and had obviously been frozen, but they were tasty enough. I thought the carne asada was a little underseasoned but was well pounded and trimmed of fat. It was the right amount of tenderness. There were four salsas at the bar, along with carrots, cilantro, limes, onions, and peppers. The premises were very clean and attractive. I need to come back to try a variety of meats as well as their tres leches cake!

One thing I did appreciate about this place is the amount of meat you get on your taco. They are not stingy at all! Carnitas tacos for me were okay. I wanted to love it but it was a little dry and bland. When I added sauces it tasted a little better. I'd say like a 2.5/5 Gringas pastor- 4/5 I wished there was more pineapple I felt like it paired well with the meat. For there being cheese on top I expected it to be a little crispy but it wasn't. I still thought it was good. Gringas asada- 5/5 the asada meat was good Birria tacos with consume- 3/5- I felt like the Birria was a little bland and needed more salt. Still enjoyed it but didn't hit the spot. I did however wish I tried this dish as the QUESO BIRRIA- which there being cheese on it I think makes the taco a little more solid. So maybe I'll try that next time. Esquites - 5/5 it was delicious. All the sauces they had though were delicious so anything you paired it with tasted a little better. Overall this place I liked. They have such a variety in their menu that I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area and trying other things out. Staff were really great and friendly. The ambiance there is super cute and mellow.

I also ordered the Jamaica which was flavorful and just the right amount of sweet. The place was dead when I walked in and no one else came or went by the time my to go order was ready. The guy at the counter wasn't very engaged and not helpful when I asked for suggestions or what was popular. Service could have been friendlier, but not enough of an issue that I wouldn't return again when in the area.
