I found this cute little restaurant on yelp which had great reviews and bookmarked. My friend and I were super excited to try out this restaurant. On May 26th, 2017, I made reservation for two people at 7.30pm.The person on the other end of the phone inquired whether it was my first time or dined previously. I replied, first time. I inquired about parking. From the tone of he's voice, he sounded cheerful & informed not to park near the yellow lines prior to 6.30pm and the meters ran till 10pm. He was very sweet and made sure he didn't skip any parking details and park in the unauthorized areas. My friend and I reached the restaurant around 7pm and waiter managed to sit us down early underneath the glass roof area. Let me back track a little, the waiter actually let us choose our seating area since there were so many tables available. We decided to go for seating underneath the glass roof, beautiful sunrays were shinning inside, the green pillows which were eye-catching and it had the picturesque setting like magazines. And the table setting with the fresh pink flowers were just perfect for two friends to sit away from the crowd, chit-chat, enjoy drinks and absorb the beauty of the ambiance. The waiter who sat us down was very sweet. My friend enquired if they could make mushroom risotto because she saw a picture on yelp. He said, unfortunately they cannot make it because they cook things based on season & availability. And he said, you are lucky because today we have scallops risotto with peas and lime. In the restaurant, we noticed there were only two waiters and one waitress. The waitress happened to be assigned to our table. She overheard the waiter giving us the daily special. She was not pleased and said oh he already went over my duty. She didn't offer complimentary bread to us. We waited over 45 minutes for our food. The smell of the food was making our stomach grumble. I did notice all the tables were getting complimentary bread. I finally broke my silence and asked if we could get some too. She had and attitude rolled her eyes and walked off to get us the bread. In shock, my friend and I looked at each other and whispered she's not happy with us. Later, the waitress asked if we wanted wine. I asked for wine recommendation with my dish. She said white wine goes well with scallops. And I informed her that I'm not a fan of white wine and if she doesn't mind then she kindly let me sample prior to purchasing a glass. She kept staring at me as if I asked her something that was forbidden. With that look gave me a chill so I repeated again and she said ok. I told her one of the wines were flat. She responded, we opened the bottle this morning so it's not flat. Are you serious? I'm a wine drinker, I know the difference. She did have the nerves to say do you want it or not. Sorry, I'll skip the wine since I can't seem to find the right one for my taste palette. By then, I had enough of her attitude and was tempted to walk out the door. But since my friend and I were already there and beautiful pillows were relaxing we didn't want to move. Enough of my boring story, overall service was slow. My friend and I ordered risotto. It had three scallops, peas, rice and lime. My risotto tasted delicious, I wish the portion was a little more. We were craving for desserts but the waitress killed the atmosphere. We noticed there was a bucket filled with water and every time they cleaned the table they put the cloth in the bucket. The waitress touched the dirty water, clean the table and then moved to the next task without washing hands which was squeezing the lemon juice to make another customers alcoholic drink, closed few containers placed them in the refrigerator. Oh lord, all that without washing her hands. After seeing all that, can you still imagine yourself eating dessert there? Later I found out the dirty bucket water had bleach.Anyways at the end of the crazy dinner adventure, my friend and I stood outside discussing our dinner experience. Out of nowhere the restaurant owner comes out and inquires what just happened inside. I was thrown off guard. We narrated our evening experience which was not pleasant. And things we saw like the waitress not washing hands was big No!!! No!!! He mentioned next time speak up because we are the customers and deserve best treatment. He can improve on the spot but not after someone leaves or writes a yelp review. At that point it's late and it does hurt small businesses images. I totally agree. And we should have demanded to talk with the manager. He was very kind and informed us to come back again. And he'll personally try to make sure we get the best treatment and he went ahead saying, I'll remove the charges for the night. He gave me the business card and said call ahead and he'll make sure we get the best treatment for the night. I'll definitely go back because owner was very genuine. And my 2 star is based solely on my experience and noticing hygienic issue. read more
