Great experience. We visited Tableau for the first time. We sat at the bar and had a a drink ahead of our 5:45 pm dinner reservation. Bartender Derek took care of us. My wife had a canned Mockly mocktail and I had a Woodford Old Fashioned. She enjoyed her mocktail and my Old Fashioned was decent. We were seated near the kitchen. It was really cold in this area. Thankfully, we both brought light jackets with us. The head waiter (young man in a suit) had the aircon adjusted and it did get better. Newell was our server. What a peach. She said she's been at Tableau since they opened in 2013. She took good care of us. My wife ordered the Chicken Tableau dinner. I ordered the Maison Salad and the French Onion Soup. My wife enjoyed her meal. I sampled the crispy chicken thigh portion of her meal and it was quite tasty. My salad was smallish and looked pretty wimpy but the dressing was real nice and I liked the nuts on the salad. The standout for me, by far was the French Onion Soup. It was the second best I've ever had. The onions were well caramelized, the broth was deep with flavor and the cheese great. The portion was quite large as well. Quite a value in my opinion and honestly, paired with the salad was plenty of food for me. A loaf of soft bread with whipped butter was served at the beginning. Miss Jewell did a good job of serving and checking in on us. I will definitely be back to Tableau on our next visit to NOLA.
When we walked into the restaurant, the hostess was very icy- I felt judged walking in. The waiter wasn't the nicest either. The steak I ordered, granted it was $54, was very chewy and almost had a gamey taste. All of our dishes were luke-warm and pretty much average. The restaurant is in the Jackson square, there is a lot of construction going on around the restaurant.
We started coming here for Mother's Day a couple years ago and every year it gets better. The service is always lovely and bright. They had a jazz group playing at a nice volume and the ambiance felt very Nola without being too intense. The fried fish sandwich was the best ever! Fried to perfection. The apple dessert really stood out and was something I've never had before. I appreciate that the menu changes slightly but they keep some staples around. We will keep returning for Mother's Day brunch.
My family and I visited the restaurant for Mother's Day and had a great experience with outstanding customer service. We were greeted upon arrival. They offered a selection of fresh bouquet flowers sponsored by Hendrick's Gin, which guests can either create themselves or choose pre-arranged. I enjoyed the steak and eggs for brunch, accompanied by grilled shrimp. The highlight was the banana foster, prepared to order at our table. I will certainly return.
Let me start with the good. The customer service, the servers attending the group even were outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance was old school New Orleans and antiquated. The food...... yeah duck gumbo that was tasty but served lukewarm. Salads that were warm and not chilled, and BBQ shrimp and grits that tasted more like shrimp coated in vinegary Tabasco sauce. We had a custard dessert that light but bland. It was a catered group event. Although the customer service was great, until that menu improves I'll have to hold off on coming back.
Came here to celebrate my friend. They were having a special of $0.75 French 75s! (Limit 3 per person) They brought out warm French bread with butter. Warm bread is ALWAYS a win. We ordered the crab dip. I wasn't a fan. My friends liked it tho. Not seafoody enough for me. I had a the burger. I ordered it medium. It came out well done and dry. Should have sent it back. My friend had the steak and eggs which was also ordered medium. Also came out well done. Why even ask?? The atmosphere was great though. It was a beautiful day. We were on the second floor. They opened all the doors and let the breeze blow in. There was music playing down below which was very nice background music. Could see the people walking and mingling outside. There was potential but overall the food was a let down.
Tableau is an absolutely classy establishment. Peter was a funny, attentive, and kind server. We had a large party and they took great care of us. The andouille crusted fish was incredible, the shrimp and grits had incredible flavor. All of the food was wonderful.
Call to support businesses affected by the fences in the Quarter-162 days and counting... Poor Tableau was a ghost town yesterday for an 11am seating but that did not deter staff from delivering a wonderful experience! We were fortunate to take in perfect weather in the courtyard protected by shade and soothed by the bubbling fountain nearby. House sparrows flitted across the slab looking for tiny crumbs. Keely was our delightful server, keeping drinks flowing and answering questions to ensure a perfect meal. We began with the platter featuring shrimp salad, blue crab fondue and truffled crab claws. Oh momma. After all that cheese a lighter main seemed a good choice so I ordered the fried oyster salad with a side of poached egg. My egg was overdone so using the yolk for additional dressing didn't come to fruition but the extra protein was delicious anyways. The salad is very lightly dressed so if you love sauce like I do, extra dressing might be the key. Oysters were seasoned and fried perfectly and I ate every single one. A really nice morning and dining experience, so go to Tableau and support your neighbors and industry folks!
An amazing place with even more amazing staff. We came here for a quiet lunch for our anniversary. Jewel was our server and she was phenomenal !! 4 stars to her for her personality and flair. She talked with us and jokes around, she made our anniversary special. We really thank her for going above and beyond to Mae us feel welcome. Now the food: I can not say enough for that food. It was delicious, and takes the New Orleans flavor up a notch. This place gives you a spectacular experience with nice ambiance. If you can ask to sit in the courtyard, it just feels like you are in your own world, not beep in the heart of the bustling city. Take you time and enjoy.
Slow service, but the food was amazing. This may have been a one-off but they made up for it by giving us complementary chocolate mousse. I know you're probably like, tuh, chocolate mousse, but hear me out. The texture, little scoop of ice cream on top, and the blackberry compote made it the best thing I've ever eaten. I would have never thought to order that in my own, so I'm glad they offered it. The brown butter gnocchi is the best appetizer, please order! The bread was just meh, but even though we had to wait the server was kind and friendly. There was also a strolling singing quarter that made the mood in the restaurant upbeat and fun. I'll be back and I suggest you go!
I was in town for work and wanted to come back here. I've always had great dinners here. The place gets booked up quickly, so get reservations. The restaurant is nice and this time we sat in the courtyard, since we arrived before our reservation and the host said we could sit there. Service of course is always top notch, and the manager came to check on us during our dinner. We had the sampler appetizer and we both had the lambshank. Both were good, but nothing outstanding as I had previously here. The lamb shank was dry and slightly overcooked. I will definately come back, hopefully next time the food will be better.
Made a quick stop here with my food tour group. We were in a beautiful private dining room lined with wine on the walls. We had a small serving of gumbo which was delicious and leidenheimers bread! The experience was short but great. Would love to come back some time and dine at the actual restaurant for a full meal!
Well we came for the "Fence" 75s. French 75 is in my top 3 cocktails, so I was drawn to the deal with the construction going on. They were perfect, both the gin and cognac options. We were seated upstairs and jazz music from the street below drifted up to enhance the experience. We ordered the crab fondue to share. It wasn't very crabby but it reminded me of an elevated pot pie filling. For my entree, I chose the steak and eggs at medium temperature. It appeared almost well done but I was starving and didn't feel like waiting for a remake. The portion was satisfying though. Drinks were great! Food was ok!

JAZZ FESTIVAL WEEKEND WARNING!!! Since it wasn't mentioned up front, they are on a limited Jazz Fest menu which had nothing of what we wanted from the regular menu in it. Here is the updated menu for this weekend. It was lovely inside and upstairs, so maybe we'll try it again another day. read more

After searching tirelessly up and down the historic streets of New Orleans for an establishment with a comfortable balcony to enjoy a few drinks on, we stumbled upon Tableau. Like a port in the storm, we were hoping this would be our last stop of the day. Since arriving in the French Quarter, I got the feeling that quality balcony dining is rare and definitely comes with a cost. Of course, having to bribe our host with the purchase of some sort of appetizer for an outdoor table confirmed that and brought me back to similar dining experiences in Paris. Although I understand the desire to get the best ROI for the tables, drinks do equal significant income for restaurateurs and typically serve as a segway to food. After experiencing many sub-par old fashioned cocktails throughout the day, I was delighted to sit and sip on the expertly made old fashioned here. The appetizer menu doesn't disappoint and much to my surprise included Gnocchi. As I have said in the past, I am always on the hunt for exceptional gnocchi and after trying theirs, I was HOOKED. The traditional appearance threw me off a bit, but after seeing that sage brown butter sauce it came in, I was ready to dive in. This Gnocchi, clearly house made, much like an after-dinner mint, literally melts in your mouth. Being such a time-consuming process, I understand why it's hard to find it on a menu and the only choice I had at the time was to order three more and have them turn it into an entree. Definitely the best Gnocchi I have ever had yet! Eventually our party of two turned into a party of four with drinks and meals all around, so lose the principal approach at the front door Tableau and give your tables to those willing to pay the bill. Cheers! read more

Our server , Ruby was great. The food amazing. Perfect dirty martini. We started with an oyster appetizer that was out of this world. Turtle soup and French onion soup both very good, then the steak and pork chop. The steak was tender and delicious the pork chop was huge and also delicious. Crème Brûlée and another dessert were wonderful. Highly recommend (think about lactose pills first, everything is rich). read more

BEST CRÈME BRULEE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Amazing food, full of flavor and sculpted to perfection! I also had the Duck Confit Pasta that exceeded my expectations! (not pictured because I devoured it within minutes) You will NOT be disappointed! (Came here due to it being rated 4th best restaurant in the New Orleans area!) read more

I had an amazing experience here. We were greeted by our wonderful server Rachel. I let her know right away that I couldn't do anything with lactose and she did everything to ensure I could enjoy a meal without getting sick. For my appetizer, I went with the truffle crab claws. It was one of the best things I tasted in New Orleans hands down. I also ordered a cocktail, I can't recall the name but it contained blood orange. *chef's kiss* For my entrée I had the Pasta Bouillabaisse. It was so delicious. It's squid ink pasta with a seafood broth with an array of seafood. Everything I ate was lactose free so no side effects for me, just a full happy belly. If you're visiting and looking for a great experience, please come visit and tip well! Thank you Rachel and to the rest of the staff! read more

First time in New Orleans and celebrated with a nice dinner, southern style! Pasta Bouillabaisse was slightly briny with an array of seafood, spicy and citrusy rouille, and fresh dill and basil. Shrimp & Grits... hands down the BEST grits, I've ever had. Every bite was deliciously creamy, topped with garlic chips. Turtle soup was quite tasty. Apprehensive at first, the soup was topped with sherry (straight from the bottle!) and wow, every sip was spicy and hearty. Turtle meat has the consistency of ground beef, but almost melts in your mouth like tofu. Creole French Onion Soup was a little sweet for my taste, thought the onions could've been caramelized longer for a more natural sweetness. Truffled Crab Claws are the new hot girl summer app! Boujee and fresh, biting into the juicy crab meat with shaved black truffle was quite the flavor combo! Crème brûlée was the BEST, I've ever had! Cracking the torched surface is so satisfying, but every bite was a wonderful mix of vanilla and caramel. So much fresh vanilla bean! If you find yourself in New Orleans, make a reservation and check this place out! read more
We made a reservation as this was my friends favorite restaurant in New Orleans. The inside is very large and the tables are far apart giving you lots of space and privacy. The inside decoration is nice and the servers are very friendly. I got the truffle crab claws. I probably won't recommend getting them. Although they were good for 19 bucks the amount of meat was very underwhelming. I also got the gulf fish almondine which was very tasty. read more
BEST Crème brulée ever!! Love love this spot! Especially for a special meal. The balcony and courtyard seating is my favorite! The dining room is quite nice, as well. As a nola local, I've been to Tableau for several occasions and always still love this spot. As a vegetarian, I can always find something interesting and delicious here. I love the brown butter gnocchi, the maison salad and the happy hour cheese board. read more
This was a charming little venue for a private event! Food is decent but we especially enjoyed having our own space upstairs in the Parlor. Great service provided by our bartender at the open bar and a variety of alcohol options available for our group. Our dinner started with Duck & Andouille Gumbo, which was probably my favorite from this meal. The BBQ Shrimp & Grits were also pretty good, and the Crème Brûlée was okay. This place had a very classy vibe and the best part about our room was the courtyard view over the balcony - a great place for photo ops! read more

One of our most memorable meals in New Orleans! We had the pleasure of dining here during the week leading to Christmas and the restaurant was festive and well attended. Our server Ms.Ashley was by far the best server you could ask for. Her charming warm smile greeted us, as she explained the specials and allowed us time to soak in the menu to determine a choice. The RedFish with Almonds was so delicious. We opted for a cup of Gumbo n Rice for starters and it was very good too. The finale of our meal was the Chocolate Torte, that was rich smooth and intense. We certainly recommend this place , and should you be lucky to request for Ms Ashley's area, you're gonna have a great meal with impeccable service. Thank you for a wonderful meal! read more

While on a road trip we took a detour to New Orleans and wound up in the French Quarter for Sunday brunch. The location is perfect, right on Jackson Square, and our party of two was sat right away. I had the special which was an eggs benedict with fried oyster and beef au jus. The textures were so unique and the flavor was on point. I loved this dish and wish I could get it again. There was a band coming around to each table and accepting requests. They were incredible and the vibe was top tier. We got bottomless mimosas and the waiter offered us to go cups so we could walk around the French Quarter with them. Absolutely would return! read more

Service was excellent and the location can't be beat. Several different seating areas in this historic governor's mansion. Stunning views. That being said our table of 4 there to celebrate our anniversaries were placed in a room with 2 large parties of greater than 10 people Each that were very loud and disruptive. Nothing against them (they were clearly having fun) but in an otherwise open restaurant with plenty of open tables it was disappointing we were seated there. Our server however made up for it! She was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. My husband devoured the mussels for an app and was too full to eat anything else :) the soups were excellent and our meals as well were well seasoned and tasty. We had the steak/ fall pasta/ duck. Fall seafood pasta was much spicer than I anticipated but it was still very good and I ate it all :) Complimentary crème brûlée for our anniversary was the hit and outstanding. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 was the slightly noisy atmosphere and nothing really wowed us about the food but it was very good. I would go back for sure!! Sorry I didn't take more pictures read more

Incredible! Great food, wines by the glass, balcony views, and service. Can't recommend everything we ordered enough! Oysters Pan Roast, Chicken Tableau, Tournedo Rossini, Chocolate Entremet. Tableau is on my top 5 lists of must eats in NOLA. It is a Brennans restaurant and that comes with great service, food, and atmosphere. The balcony view is the best of Jackson Square period. The downstairs has the upscale NOLA feel, but I like the second floor for views. Even if you not in it for a meal the bar, there is an upstairs and downstairs, is a great spot to grab an adult beverage in the French Quarter. This is a great place for brunch, lunch, or dinner. I can't say enough about the restaurant. Maybe I eat here once a month and living in NOLA we have many options so I think that says something. Drink up my friends! read more

Location and ambiance were great. Food was good but not amazing. We got the truffle crab claws, mussels/frites, and shrimps and grits. The truffle crab claws were flavorful but to be honest the truffle oil was the only flavor here. The claws came already cracked so they were super easy to eat. The mussels came in a white wine sauce and I think they didn't cook off the wine because it tasted strongly of alcohol. The shrimp and grits were very tasty. The grits came with sausage, garlic bits, and a semi spicy sauce. Pretty flavorful and hearty. I really liked the flavor profile here but the shrimp was slightly overcooked. Still, I really enjoyed this dish. The bartender seemed moody. Not friendly. It made sitting at the bar feel weird. But the cocktails came quick and were very tasty, so at least he was good at his craft. read more

We dined on the balcony on April 28. The service was wonderful. The food was very appealing though some items had some issues. The waygu steak was tough. The TARTE À LA BOUILLIE was delicious. The escargot was bitter and I have eaten them before. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. read more
What's better than BEING A TOURIST IN YOUR OWN TOWN? Today was a spontaneous day it was AND what better place to spend it, than in the French Quarters? I'm listening... ok you agree, THERE'S NO BETTER PLACE. Located on the corner of Chartres + St Peters, this dining establishment was the place for me TODAY!!! I was greeted by fine, well uniformed wait staff. They took me to my table to meet my awaiting guest. Dining indoors or outdoors on the patio was the question. Upstairs, outdoor patio please. The stairs were a surprisingly unwelcome treat, I wondered where was the elevator (lol). Wearing a mask & climbing stairs was a challenge, but I persevered. The server was pleasant and informative. She delivered iced water in a REAL WATER GLASS & a mini loaf of bread with warm butter... ummmm, Tableau you had me at HELLO. The food was delivered in a timely fashion. I found the gumbo to be seasoned well, but a little like a gravy versus a roux. The blackened fish in the ciabatta bread was moist and well seasoned. The pommes frites that accompanied the sandwich were hearty and filling. French 75, mimosas & the Old Fashioned were perfect & to my pleasing. I mean messing up a cocktail is a cardinal sin in my book. For the most part, everything was tasty and quite to our satisfaction. I loooooved, loveeeddddd, loveeedddd the ambiance of the restaurant. Inside & outside IS A VIBE!!!! Parking is a challenge. Excellent service, fit for a king/queen, classic Dickie Brennan's style. I'll be back... read more

I came to tableau for a friends birthday and it was absolutely delicious!!! The ambiance was nice but we were a bit disappointed to be sat right by the kitchen when we had a reservation and when most of the restaurant was empty, but I suppose it is because we had 5 people. The food was great and our waitress was very friendly. I had the redfish almandine and it was cooked perfectly and tasted super fresh. read more

Loved the outdoor dining experience here, which overlooks Jackson Square. The truffled crab claw appetizer and gulf fish almondine were both delicious, but the pasta bouillabaise was awful. The pasta was extremely al dente and there was no delicious bouillabaise-y broth or sauce that you would expect with this dish. Instead, you get a smear of what I assume is concentrated bouillabaise broth (assuming so because it's read) and a shallow broth that's not typical bouillabaise. We didn't complain but we also weren't asked how the food was. If you get the right dishes, this is a winner, but that pasta really killed the meal for us. read more

Is the outdoor seating pet friendly?
Outdoor seating is through the main restaurant so I would say not pet friendly.
Are shorts and tanks acceptable attire? And does this restaurant do separate checks?
It’s not really a shorts and tank top kind of restaurant. I would not feel comfortable dressing that way myself. I believe they do separate checks. The staff is accommodating and wonderful.
