I very rarely write reviews but I was extremely impressed with Tom the owner of TAB Electric. I reached out to TAB electric last week for an estimate. I noticed that the electrical riser on the house was rusted out at ground level below the electrical panel. I had researched electricians on Yelp and saw that TAB had many great reviews. The office staff was very professional, responsive and informative. Tom came out timely to look at the issue and provide a quote. I could tell immediately that he knew what he was doing and I felt his price was very reasonable. Tom assured me without me asking that there was no immediate danger for me to be concerned about which was good to know. Tom was able to get me on his schedule fairly quickly and the work was done today. This job required digging and grass removal and everything was restored as neatly as possible. I had an appointment set up with Tab for tomorrow morning. Today at 1:30 i received a call from them asking if they could come between 2:30 and 3 today. I said yes. Someone called be saying he would be here. I called him back at 3:50 asking where he was. He said another guy was coming. So then I got a call from the owner who said " well then just cancel the job" like a kid would say and blamed it in his employees and said they were be hearing about all this later. Beware - bait and switch estimate provided through Yelp. I requested an estimate to replace 40 light switches throughout my house through Yelp. I provided specific information - that the replacements would be a combination of standard rocker switches and Lutron smart switches. Tab electric responded quickly and had what seemed to be a reasonable estimate - $23 per switch to be swapped out. This totaled about $900 for all of the switches in the house that needed to be swapped. When they arrived and saw that the job they said it was more complex than expected - apparently because I placed the replacement switches next to each receptacle they would be installed into outside of the packaging. Or perhaps it was because there are five 3-way switches which surprised them and they hypothesized without looking at any of the wiring in the wall that it would be more complex. At first they started to call another technician and then suddenly they told me they would need to write up a new estimate and left. I received the "revised" estimate today - $50 per switch (vs. $23 originally). Why is this suddenly more than double their standard switch installation fee, especially when they already had the type of switches involved in advance? I received estimates from others in the same $23-30 range per switch. I chose Tab because they responded with what seemed to be a reasonable estimate first. I wouldn't have a problem if the initial estimate were higher - I would have just saved my time and chosen another electrician who provided a more reasonable cost. If you're not sure of the job based on the details provided in the request through Yelp either ask for more details or request to do an in-person estimate first. Don't low-ball the initial estimate just to get in the door and then jack it up. read more

He asked a couple of clarification questions followed by an estimate for the job. He then scheduled a tech for Tuesday afternoon. Wow! What service from start to finish...Thank you, Yelpers for steering me to Tab Electric with incredible marks from many recent patrons. You all were spot on! After being jolted out of bed with the sound of all 4 alarms blaring yesterday at 5 am, I determined no fire existed. Thank God. I googled, and was reminded to cut circuit breakers...Ladies, know where your fuse box is...which resolved the alarms sounding. Reset the breakers, brewed coffee, posted on my HOA site the incident...to which, I was informed that fire alarms last about 10 years! Time for replacements! Thus, began my Yelp search. Only giving TAB 4 stars because one of the Electricians (we had Tom and Kevin) tracked dirt throughout the house. Kevin and Tom told us to write a good review to help promote their company. While it may be a bit needy, I respect that they want us to spread the word about their phenomenal services. They were quite a bit late, but since they informed us that they had an issue with their truck; I won't take off a star because their communication was better than many repairmen I've used. Tom and Kevin went out of their way to buy new LEDS and switch the panels for us. They ran to the store and bought supplies for us and got back to the house fast.
