Really wanted this place to be good as we pass through Redding a lot and live across from a T4 that we have gone to weekly. But unfortunately we severely disappointed. We placed our order for dine in at 7:40 and waited quite a while for our food. Upon receiving it they said we had to leave and take our food to go because it was 8pm, the time that they close. When we explained we couldn't take it home (3hrs away) they said we might be able to eat outside at Panera across the street. We had two 80yr old grandparents with us and weren't going to eat outside when it was 105 degrees! Nor try to eat noodle soup in the car (again, with 80 yr olds). Seeing our predicament, all they offered was "sorry!" To think we bought $100 worth of food and beverage at this place, gave a nice 15% tip (which I now wish I could take back), and they couldn't let us stay 10mins to eat while they start to clean up?? The lights were still on and chairs weren't even up yet when we passed by after we finished eating at Panera. (Luckily we are Sip Club members and bought a huge brownie too so they let us eat there.) On top of that, the beef noodle soup we got looked nothing like the photos on their menu. The beef is like the kind used for pho and not stew like the classic dish shown on the menu. The pork in my Imperial roll tasted like it might not be good anymore. And the prices were on the high side ($15/bowl) for the portions. Needless to say, this will not be a return stop. read more

But at the same time I wasn't sure if this beef noodle soup was the more clear broth or if it was a "hong sao" broth. Guessing by the looks of it it must have been a clear broth. Wish they had some pickled mustard greens it would have been perfect. The meat served alongside was pretty good, definitely could have been a bit warmer (I am assuming they cook it in the broth first and then take it out and cut it). After a week of traveling, I think we just wanted something familiar even though I wasn't expecting much. My drink was satisfying, but the boba was hard. The popcorn chicken was really good though. Came in on a Sunday, early evening. Restaurant was half full. I ordered a customized smoothie: honey peach + passion fruit + boba. Plus, popcorn chicken. I was wrongly given a slushy (smoothie has milk). I noticed, on the menu, a "smoothies/milkshakes" section. Per this experience, I'd assume that the "milkshakes" were really smoothies and not actual milkshakes (with ice cream). The popcorn chicken was crispy and had a satisfactory flavor, but rather dry. One key ingredient was missing: fried basil leaves. T4, itself, is a Taiwanese chain. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is unique and tasty. The Redding location served up a half-effort imitation. For the past year, we would look for reasons to drive down Sacramento just so we could stop by the T4 that's there. Imagine our elation when we found out that it's now in Redding! We actually went several times opening weekend just to make sure we weren't all dreaming! It definitely was a little rough opening weekend, but that is to be expected at the launch of anything...so a lot of Grace is given as they work out the kinks. The main thing here is Bubble tea! Delicious tea with sweet tapioca balls (or other items) floating around. Some have said that the tapioca feels like balls of snot... and while it is not too far from the truth, they are sweet, chewy, and so much fun to eat, as you ship your tea! There are options on how much ice and sugar to add. My favorite combo is honey peach tea with no sugar and 30% ice. The passion fruit is really sweet, and my wife loves the Thai tea. We've had the food and it was actually good, and it is nice to be able to eat there when you're in a pinch, but the reason we go is for the tea. read more

It's grand opening and I'm the first to review, so I'll have a little grace in this review. I'm very excited to see an authentic Taiwanese boba shop in Redding! It means I can satisfy my boba cravings when I'm in town on vacation (as I often am) and don't have to stop them because I'm not home where there is an abundance of boba shops. The menu is the same as that in Milpitas, which is the only other T4 I've been to. Drink quality is decent, but service, like the Milpitas branch, is rather slow. The workers are nice, but I can't figure out why it takes so long to make drinks. My order of chicken was ready before all the drinks were ready...lol Speaking of chicken, I got an order of popcorn chicken and it is wonderfully crispy, but they're rather large chunks of chicken. I mean, I suppose this is good, but you can really taste the chicken in it...lol I know that sounds crazy, but I think it's lacking the 5-spice flavor that usually accompanies Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Still good, just not what I was expecting. Overall, they have some things to work out (like the cashiers leaning the names of drinks and finding them in the register so that they can order/charge the right stuff), but still good! I come to Redding several times a year, so I'm excited to see how they progress by next visit in a couple of months! read more

They could also update their restaurant and fill the place with better furniture since it is a pretty big space, but with the circumstances at the moment that isn't a huge deal. Anyway! The tea is watered down a lot of the time and the flavors are meh. But, the food is good, don't get me wrong. It's just the customer service sometimes... it's awful. A lot of the girls have attitudes and give you death glares. There was a blonde girl in particular that helped me once before and that experience made me form a negative outlook on the entire business. She made a mistake with my order and all I did was say that I wanted boba in it. She rolled her eyes and was very annoyed with me. I'm sorry but I am a paying customer and I want my dang boba. Also, I don't like how they upped the prices and only have medium and large now. It's getting more expensive than Starbucks. I'll save my money and drive to Hartnell for Boba instead. read more

This place is a little piece of SoCal noms at the end of a redding strip mall. I normally get the milk tea or roasted oolong milk tea with no boba. My husband loves the coconut milk tea or the shakes. He also likes any of their food: popcorn chicken with their super fabulous sauce, octopus balls (think round calamari pieces with an amazing sauce), calamari, and any of the ramens. Their food is always consistent, the service is fast and friendly. You can order over the phone to skip any potential line but even if there is a line and you only see 1 person working, know that there is someone in the kitchen and they are really efficient at getting orders out. The only thing Tea4 U is missing is a drive-thru but that's just the me that wants to swing in for a drink every time I'm in the general area. And dang it, Redding isn't that big so I'm always in the general area. Redding is lucky to have something like Tea4U. Try it. Oh and set up a digital rewards card with them so you get a free drink for every 10 purchased. read more
