It's a cute nostalgic space with old-timey instruments displayed in the corners and has a really unique feel. The wait staff is friendly and funny and very knowledgeable about the menu. Personally, I've had the big thick burger and the pulled pork sandwich. Both are delicious. Others have had the chicken fried steak, the lasagna, and everyone I've gone there with loved it. Great comfort food and delicious pie for dessert. Try it, you'll like it!

Full bar avaliable and if I recall breakfast lunch and dinner sold all day! I had french toast and cheese grits- tasted just like it does at home- as expected I guess but nothing that gave me the wow factor I was hoping for, cheese grits however were really good, Kinda thick but packed with flavor! Eggs were cooke just right and potatoes were good too however came out luke warm like they had sat for a bit before being sent out, the pancakes were kinda like the french toast as it tasted like something you make at home but still good! Lots of pies to choose from- I went with a slice of buttermilk to go! It was good but i'd try something different next time I come by! We were at right away around 11am on saturday. Our waitress was nice and everything was out quick! The bathroom however needs some work- definitely something that's been there for QUITE sometime with no fix ups- dirty floors and walls, leaking handle when you go to flush. I will be back to check out more of the menu next time we are in the area!

Got menus and waited about ten minutes for someone to take our order. Finally asked a table bus to get our waitress. She comes to take our order. Does not know what a chive is, or a scallop. Wife was having a rare steak with grilled veggies. She asked to substitute the baked potato for extra grilled veggies. Almost positive we got billed for them as a side, but we will never know. I never got to see the bill. More on that later. The meals arrive. My wife's rare steak is cooked to a shoe leather state. As in burnt like an asteroid. The veggies are fine. Waitress never asked if everything was ok when she brought the food. My shrimp and scallops w loaded baked potato wo chives is delivered as shrimp and oysters w a loaded potato w chives. I said nothing about the chives. After eating my shrimp and most of my potato, once again the busboy to the rescue. He gets the waitress who comes over and offered to just take the scallops off the bill. I asked for my scallops. She is gone a long time. She returned and asked if I wanted fried or grilled scallops. Fired I replied and she disappeared. We hear a commotion in the kitchen and someone tells the waitress to come get the oysters. She comes over with a plate and uses her bare hands to take food off my plate. Wtf? She takes them and leaves. Then she and other wait staff are sitting in an unoccupied area looking at their tickets, and watching soccer on tv. About 15 minutes later my freshly fried scallops arrive. My wife has been done for 20 minutes. I finish the scallops and waitstaff is no where to be seen. My wife goes to the car. Busboy to the rescue again. He finds and sends the waitress, who is watching tv now, to the table. She asks if I am ready to pay . I am. She has to go make the bill. As she approaches again I am getting my card out and she she says "paying by card?" And takes the card from my hand wo leaving the bill and disappears. I never got to see it. A few minutes later she drops the card and card receipts on the table. No waiting, no questions, no thank you, no explanations just leaves the area. Christy did not get a tip. All our previous visits had been great. This one sucked. Addendum The following day I noticed the young waitress had decided she was entitled to give herself a tip from my bank account. I brought this to the manager's attention. She refunded the amount the young lady took on her own. I feel her future is short. The manager was very professional about it. I can appreciate the position this put her in and how she handled it. I would give her 5 stars if I could.

I went here as my friend pleaded that for urgent hunger pains this is the place to go. Well I've tried it and I must say...looks can be deceiving. The decor is old cafeteria style, and very clean. The service are nice, respectful, and unlike any other place, they do not feel entitled to tips (though I tipped highly). The food selection was smaller than Golden Corral. However due to the lack of random screaming children touching everything , and the ability to have select foods only, the food here was twice as good as Golden Corral. Don't get me wrong, some stuff was still stale. But overall it was a great place. Salad Bar Everything good Only room for improvement is the mismatch temperatures between pasta salads and lettuce e Chicken- delicious and perfectly seasoned Spaghetti- I'd eat another bow 3.) When we arrived, we were told that other guests were already sitting at our reserved tables. Instead of honoring our reservation, they squeezed our entire group into a much smaller area where everyone was cramped and uncomfortable. Our server was kind and did the best they could, but the kitchen and overall management were a disaster. Dinner took over 2 1/2 hours, and food came out one or two plates at a time over the entire evening--even though we all ordered at the same time. Some people had finished eating before others had even received their meals. I ordered the nachos, and they didn't arrive until 2 1/2 hours after we sat down. Waiting that long for nachos is simply unacceptable. We were repeatedly told the kitchen was backed up because they were busy and because items like the chips were "homemade." They absolutely were not--they tasted like standard bagged tortilla chips from the grocery store. To make matters worse, the food itself was mediocre and not worth the wait (the one standout was the fried okra). Between the mishandled reservation, the excessive wait times, and the disappointing food, the entire experience was incredibly frustrating. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My daughter-in-law had gotten a new refrigerator right before they left for vacation so there was barely anything in it. They have a wonderful pantry and I ate a Ramen out of the pantry Saturday night for supper but just couldn't find anything. I was hungry for in there on Sunday. Anyway, I was hunting some food to have delivered on Sunday. I had never even ordered takeout from any place in Taylor or Hutto and it took me a while to find something that could accommodate all my needs -but Randy's Icehouse to the rescue!! The first time I ate there I had my grandsons with me and we all had burgers along with some fries and onion rings we shared and everything was delicious and cooked to order. Yesterday, I chose a Chicken Fried Steak dinner with a baked potato , a side of mushrooms and a side salad. I enjoyed the CFS once I removed most of the breading (don't get me wrong. It was nice and crispy-I just wasn't in the mood for it) it was easy to remove, and the steak itself was cooked properly, there was cream gravy to go over it, and I ate it with my canned Mushrooms on the side. My Baked Potato was on the small side, but it was delicious and all the logical condiments like shredded cheese, sour cream, & butter were all included (in little cups) so I could use what and how much of those I wanted. It also came with a slice of Texas Toast and a Side Salad, which was freshly chopped lettuce with bacon, and croutons, and had the blue cheese dressing I had ordered on the side. Even without the breading on the meat, I was full before I ever made it to the Texas toast. I focused on the chicken fried steak, the gravy and the baked potato. It was all very good. Not sure why, but I didn't care for the mushrooms too much , I knew they would be canned, but they had a little bit of a tinny flavor so I ate a couple of those, but then left the rest. The blue cheese dressing was great, not sure if it was homemade, but there were small chunks of blue cheese evident, which I appreciated. Because I had filled up on my steak and potato I only ate about a third of the salad. The only thing I missed was the woman who was our server last time I went with my grandsons -as she was very pleasant and nice to talk to! I'm very grateful they were open on the Fourth of July weekend and even more grateful that Toast was able to deliver it to me out at my son's house-which I consider to be in the boonies -but then a lot of Taylor /Coupland area is! Looks like this is going to be my go to place if I need some good home cooking out that way!! If you haven't been it's worth the drive!!!

It's as if they're trying to keep this place a secret from the tourists. It also doesn't help that their parking lot has only five spaces, but there is some street parking. Inside it looks like someone tried to repurpose their garage into a makeshift restaurant and grocery store. All the sides are served out of several crockpots and the meat is stored in a dutch oven. The sides were nothing special, the beans were average and the potato salad could've come from Walmart. The corn and green beans were clearly out of a can. I got the two meat plate for $20. I decided on chicken and ribs (brisket is $2 more). The chicken was fairly moist and the ribs were decent, but the barbecue sauce they ladled over it was overly sweet with no tang. I was going to get the three meat plate until I saw the brisket sitting in the Dutch oven. At least when they ran my credit card, the tip screen was not there waiting for me. Glad I stopped in, but it's not a place I would come back to. If you're a tourist, there are better places to check out. Informative photos included.
