Most times I do pickup but today my daughter and I decided to dine in. I ordered my favorite, 3-pc catfish dinner and daughter the grilled chicken cordon Bleu sandwich. Both dishes were spot on With the fillets fried perfectly and the some of the best fries in Taylor. What we noticed most, though, was the cafe, nearly full during the lunch hour, is a quiet experience and we could actually hear the 50's music playing but not loud. I'd probably give it 4.5 stars if yelp would let me. Place is super clean and quaint to start with. It's very inviting and friendly fast service. As for the food: I got a Texas cheese steak, the steak was under seasoned and quite a bit greasier than I would have thought. Roll was toasted great, fries were nothing special. Chicken Caesar salad for my kid, chicken was a little dry, but a decent salad for the price. All in all worth the stop just remember it's a little town cafe not a high end stop. A wonderful kitschy place to step back in time! Lucky Duck was a great meal for us after hopping around the Sweet Eats Berry Farm in Georgetown. We've been meaning to swing by and scope out Taylor with the growth of my husband's job building a new campus out here and the downtown vibes. The interior is gorgeous, a redone garage with great lighting to see Main Street traffic. My husband went for a veggie burger, I went for a seafood sampler basket and we shared the grilled zucchini! I highly recommend this side! It was so tender and seasoning is yum. Our toddler got the chicken tenders which came out piping hot and went for the fries. :) Can't go wrong with these safe staples for a hungry party. After we finished our meal, the reason for stopping by was the best. The ice cream shoppe inside is staffed by the same folks on the meal side. Catfish here is delicious! And portions are great. Catfish is crispy, the way it should be -- and often missed at most places. Also has good seasoning. Fries are battered which is the best! LOOK OUT FOR CLOSING TIME KAREN! I've been going to this chain which I'm pretty sure started off in Manor "Good Luck Grill" on FM 973 since about 2010, always had good service and good food. I've also frequented their other place "Lucky Duck" in Taylor as it's less than 10mi from my house. Maybe they had the 4th string bunch in tonight? I get there 15m after their closing time, she's calling me as I'm walking in and complaining about, "I can't close out the register until you pay". Seriously, they don't have dine in customers that are there for a little while after closing time? I'm pretty sure I was also was charged for a Tea but she said they already poured everything out, so not even a substitute drink! Jeez, I regret leaving a freaking tip. Nice place in Taylor. We road the train into Taylor and wanted to support a local restaurant. The chicken fried states had good flavor but was very tough. Overall is was fine. They suck......The signage inside stating "a bitch works here" is just distasteful for any establishment that is trying to make it. Stopped in for some catfish today. As another reviewer said, order at the counter and when your food's ready, they holler out your name and you go pick it up from the counter. Lucky Duck is a renovated old fashioned gas station with the garage doors and everything. It's pretty cool looking. Husband had heard their catfish is good, so we both ordered catfish, which can only be ordered fried, not grilled or blackened. Fries, hushpuppies come with the basket. I got a salad instead of fries, and they charged me $2 for a very small, small plate. The salad was fresh though, with romaine (I think), cucumber, tomato, red cabbage and carrot. My goodness the catfish was piping hot! I got 4 decent sized filets, very fresh. It was very good, didn't 'seem' greasy. It wasn't cornmeal breading, it was of the batter breading type which I do not prefer, but it was still very good. Hush puppies good, fries were amazing. The cocktail sauce was ketchup with horseradish juice - no horseradish bits whatsoever. ZERO. It was not good. Nor was the mayo with pickle relish dip. By the time I got to the last piece of fish, I started to realize how greasy it was. I finished my meal and my stomach started to hurt about 20 minutes after leaving Lucky Duck. So.....this is TMI....but neither my husband or I could make it home (a 30 minute drive) without stopping at a bathroom. I had to stop TWICE. The place was clean, bathrooms clean, noise level moderate. If you are used to fried food, and don't typically suffer any gastro disturbances from grease, this is probably a great place for you. There's nothing worse than putting sour expired food in your mouth. This place gave me an old piece of their Jackpot pie that was so bad it tasted like ranch dressing on chocolate pudding. Catching up on my reviews and I could not forget this place. We went on a motorcycle ride out to Taylor to get a flag at one of the crafty stores and explored a bit. This place is located a bit off the main drag, it is pretty large and you order at the counter then they holler for you to come get your food when it is ready. Just went with the suggestions of the gal at the counter....fried catfish fingers, fresh and lightly breaded very good. Chicken fried chicken dinner, what is not to love. This is not a place to go and get salad. We had enough leftovers for another meal, and it was super cheap. They also have blue bell ice cream in the next room. read more

So I discovered this place by sheer happenstance. I was working a Sunday at a construction site and our contractor needed to get some testing done and it was taking all day. The supervision of the crew bought them catfish meals at Lucky Duck. Now they thought they had enough for us all but they didn't and so I got this little catfish filet, but it was good. I found out about the restaurant and a coworker and I went. It was a really nice place and they are BUSY! Service is great and they all pass the vibe check. Now I got the catfish poboy cause I love me a poboy. Too much fish! It had THREE HUGE filets on it. I had to take a filet off... well a little hot sauce later and I destroyed it! The filets are most but they are battered and seasoned well. The fries are crispy and you get a decent amount of those! I shall have to return and try the shrimp poboy next!
