Szechwan Kitchen is delicious! Stopped in a while back because another restaurant we planned on going to was closed. To glad we did! The egg flower soup is a great choice to start with. So flavorful! Today we tried the wontons in spicy sauce and what a great choice! So flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken were today's entree choices. Both delivered quickly to our table freshly cooked. The chicken had a nice crunch to it and perfect flavor. Not to sweet and the sauce not too think. Paired nice with some steamed white rice. Service is always quick and friendly and prices were fair for the quality and quantity. The restaurant is nice and quiet but also plenty of seating. I'm surprised they haven't been very busy when we've visited. I highly recommend Szechwan Kitchen! We'll definitely be back again soon! read more

I was craving Chinese food last night and this place was exactly what I needed. Before I go on to highlight the amazing food, I need to acknowledge the phenomenal service. There was one server/runner working while we were there and he was so attentive and so fast with bringing out our food and any requests we might have had. He made the experience so much more enjoyable. The potstickers and steamed buns come with a delightful sauce that takes the dish to another level. The egg flower soup was creamy and so flavorful. The fried rice was as you would assume, but no complaints. The orange chicken was absolutely delicious!! I'm normally a little weary about dishes like this because I cut the larger pieces in half, and sometime the chicken can be a little sketchy.. but this chicken was so fresh and looked as it should!! Been coming here forever but yesterday was the last time. The service has never been particularly good but I live close and it's usually priced pretty good, I think they increased prices recently though. However, yesterday the server, who I believe is the owner or a manager was incredibly rude to me. Again, they're already not nice people but he went out of his way to disrespect me. The wonton soup and the eggrolls were very good, and my husband liked the kung pao chicken (spicy!). I had the sesame beef, which was described on the menu as coming the "Chef's special brown sauce", so I was surprised when it came out with a super sweet honey sauce. I didn't mind the super sweet sauce, but my husband wasn't crazy about it. The beef was a bit overcooked and dried out, so it needed the sauce. Service was great! read more

Szechwan Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant. Same management that ran the Szechwan Palace in the Chinese Cultural Center years ago, so we were excited to try it. We had the water boiled beef, Pork Fried Rice, the spicy dumplings, and Spicey Green Beans. It was exceptional and they made it with the extra spice we desired. The numbness you get from the peppercorn and the chilis is not overwhelming, but the correct taste with authentic Szechwan cuisine. Just thrilled this opened, and they will be bringing more items onto the menu shortly. Highly recommend this restaurant. The seating was comfortable, parking was ample and easy. Should have photographed the dishes themselves, but I was enjoying it so much, I neglected to do that. I will add them next time. read more

Wow!! Phoenix finally has legit Chinese food! This place is SO GOOD! We ordered: House Lo Mein - spicy Orange Chicken General Tso Chicken - spicy Hot and Sour Soup Everything arrived piping hot and was actually spicy! The Orange and General Tso chicken both had a crunch and all dishes were flavorful. I didn't want bell peppers in my General Tso chicken and they happily accommodated my request. The only negative about that is they didn't put ANY vegetables in it. I didn't make it a big deal because everything else was amazing. We had Dan Dan Noodles, twice cooked pork, Szechwan Chicken, won tons in spicy sauce, hot and sour soup, and chonqqing chicken. While they serve some familiar Chinese restaurant staples, the Sichuan dishes really stand out with their aromatic seasonings and flavors charged with real Sichuan peppercorns, giving them that distinctive pleasant tingling - numbing sensation that one would expect in real Sichuan cuisine. The Szechuan beef was tender, savory with a bit of Sichuan peppercorn kick.The Sichuan dry fried green beans were delicious and pleasantly crunchy - a must try even if you're not a fan of green beans. The moo shu chicken was also very good and came with the requisite crepes. And the Chongqing spicy fish was super flavorful- just be aware that the level of spicy heat and the intensity of Sichuan peppercorn flavor in this dish is really pronounced here. My husband and I were in the mood for something different than our usual Friday night dinner date. We decided to try Szechuan Kitchen as it was located very close to our house. Needless to say, it is our new favorite Chinese Restaurant!!! We tried several different appetizers. The steamed buns (soup dumplings) are our new favorite appetizer. My husband had Beef Lo Mein and I had Mapo Tofu which is one of my favorite Chinese dishes. Spice level was excellent! Both were so satisfying. We left with full bellies and without an empty wallet! This is a fairly new place. It used to be Diamonds Chinese I believe. The inside is clean and spacious. We were greeted by the staff right away. Everyone was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The place was kind of empty which hopefully that changes because omg the food is fabulous! I haven't had Chinese food this good in a while. The portions are pretty big so be mindful of that when ordering. We started off with the 8 piece crab puffs and 2 piece spring rolls. They were nice and hot, fresh and again.... Omg I haven't had crab puffs and egg rolls this good in quite a while! The dipping sauce was not too sweet and a perfect consistency for dipping. Although in my opinion the sauce got in the way of the flavor of the crab puffs and spring rolls. Soooo good! All of our food came out very fast. For our entrees we ordered the house egg foo young, Kung Pao chicken, Szechuan beef and pork fried rice. We didn't realize the dishes came with white rice so... bonus we had a huge serving of white rice too. Now here is where I will stop and say the portions are BIG and we were not prepared for the amount of food we ordered but no worries because it didn't go to waste. We took the rest home to finish off. We will definitely be returning again. This place is really a hidden gem and I really hope their business picks up because the food and service is hands down the best I've had in the area. In addition they do seem to have a lot of to go orders so that's a plus! This place deserves the 5 stars... 10/10 will be back and will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. Like most Americanized, casual, or fast food style Chinese places, this place is no exception in that they cannot seem to pack or prepare to-go orders to save their god damn lives. If a particular dish is high in sauce or potential messy factor, please pick or order in the appropriate containers to handle them. I do not understand how people think they can pack dishes drenched or covered in sauce/broth/soup in a typical generic Styrofoam container. One sharp turn, one speed, a bunny's sneeze, can lead to a giant mess. I live 7 minutes from this place by the time I get home, bottom of the plastic bag is SOAKED. Containers are all soaked, there is a mess everywhere. It literally makes one so frustrated and annoyed that it just ruins the meal. The food is decent. For a place claiming to offer Szechwan cuisine, they actually do moderately own up to it. Food is decently spicy and does have remnants of that distinct Szechwan tongue-numbing sensation. Still not as authentic and will definitely NOT completely satisfy one's "tongue-numbing" spice sensation that is associated with Szechwan. read more

A great step up from the previous Diamonds Chinese that was in this location. We went to get takeout on Christmas Day after seeing a movie, and was pleasantly surprised by the higher quality of the food than from the previous place. Apparently the new owner used to own Szechwan Palace at the Chinese Cultural Center, which I also enjoyed many times, so no surprise that this was a very good meal. First of all, customer service was great! I believe I spoke to the new owner and he was so nice and helpful. When I walked in I noticed a big difference in the overall cleanliness of the building which is always a good sign. I ordered the lunch combo Kung Pao Chicken and OMG it was so flavorful and actually had that spice that I crave and expect when something says spicy on the menu! The spring roll was crispy and not under done on the inside which is important to me in a spring roll. I'm so happy they are in my neighborhood, I'll be coming back to try more dishes. read more

Went there tonight for the first time based on good reviews, and it is reasonably close. It was terrific! Got the dumplings and spicy sauce and sweet-and-sour soup, to start. Both were excellent. Determined to try things, we got Szechuan chicken, beef and lo mein. Honestly, I loved all of it. Some of the best Chinese food I've had for a very long time. The menu is very much Szechuan from 1975, but that can be a good thing. We will go back. In fact, given the scarcity of good Chinese food, it is that was our go to Chinese restaurant. Oh yes, the service was very good. The women who attended us were very nice and very helpful. The room is big and airy and very pleasant. At the moment, they don't have a liquor license.
