The best Singapore noodles Ive ever eaten. I wanted to start off by saying that before anything else. When we arrived at the restaurant I almost didn't think we had the correct location. From the outside this restaurant looks like it used to be a drive thru donut shoppe. When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised by how clean it looked and smelled, followed by the decor and lastly the welcoming staff. On appearance alone we rated it a 10/10. We never expected to find our favorite Asian cuisine in Midland Texas. We have ordered and loved, the Singapore noodles, roasted duck, orange and sesame chicken and the honey walnut shrimp here. The Lo Mein noodles are the perfect amount of spice and texture. The beef and broccoli is also a delicious staple. What started as a quick spur of the moment diner ended as being a weekly staple for us. If you're traveling into or through Midland/Odessa, do yourself a favor and stop in at Szechuan House. read more

we went one time with a group of 7 people, then we're charged by 18% tip automatically without notice either before ordering food or at the time of payment, so we double tipped. Later we further found the restaurant automatically includes sales tax as your consumption to charge you the tip. It doesn't feel good that we also tip them for the tax we pay. I've eaten at Szechuan House in Midland, TX half a dozen times. Service has always been prompt and polite. I like this place because it's quiet enough that you can actually carry on a conversation. The food has always been good, too. I ate there this week and had my customary sweet & sour chicken. The pieces were rather large, much more than bite size, so I cut them. Each piece was about 75% bread! Very little chicken. I cut a couple of pieces into thirds and the end pieces had no meat at all! If I go back, and I'm sure I will, I will insist on sweet & sour chicken--NOT sweet & sour bread. read more

After reading several (mixed) reviews we decided to try this place out; there were several outstanding things about our meal! We started with the Crab Rangoons, which were delicious! For entrees we had the Szechuan Crispy Chicken, Sweet and Sticky Spareribs (not sure on exact name), and not pictured the Fried Corn . Fried Corn wasn't quite for our taste (seemed extra sweet, like had added sugar to the batter). But everything else was exceptionally delicious! I'm a Chinese food snob so I was very surprised how good the food was. We got the general tsos chicken, beef and broccoli ( my husband said the beef was the most tender he's ever had at a Chinese restaurant), kids chicken teriyaki and an order of spring rolls. It was all really good. The fried rice didn't have much flavor and the broccoli could have been cooked a little more but we will definitely be back. Interior was fun and unique. Had the salt and pepper shrimp and chicken wings and I must say that was my favorite. The garnish was to die for. Landed in Midland and 10 years later, they finally bring Szechuan. Very skeptical I walk into this place look around and immediately like the ambience. I open the menu and suddenly realize there's actually stuff on the menu that is very similar or the same as what I used to order back in Houston. I immediately realize this could be the real thing. The server comes and I rattle off my standard order, look at the her and wait for a reaction. There was only one item I had to explain which she quickly pointed out an alternative after I showed her a picture. The food came quickly. It was very good but not quite as spicy as I'm used to, but I could realize that they're kind of taming it down to the local region of Midland. I mentioned this to her and she said just to ask for extra spicy next time. Hands-down this is the best Asian place in Midland. read more

The service and food were mediocre. I got the scallion pancake and the beef flat noodles both had a lot of Szechuan pepper and the pepper was too much that I couldn't really taste anything else. The food is delicious. I had the chicken stir fry for lunch and it came with egg drop soup, my personal favorite! Service, our server was a wonder gentleman but there was a female server standing across from us while we were eating. She was watching tv, and drilling in her nose for a solid 5-7 minutes AT LEAST maybe longer!!! She drilled in one nostril then the other for extended periods of time, then went back to work serving her tables their food and drinks. It was disgusting!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!! If I go back, and the food was so good I really want to go back, I will make sure that woman doesn't get near my food. I highly recommend trying the food! It is amazing!! Start this review out with the only reason it didn't get five stars. The service was rather slow. I went in for dinner with two coworkers. The egg drop soup looked good, I had the hot and sour. It was dang tasty and had a slow build on the heat. Entrees: orange chicken with fried rice, beef and broccoli with fried rice and Szechuan crispy shrimp with steamed rice. The orange chicken was delicious and crispy. The beef and broccoli, the broccoli had a little bite but was blanched nicely. The beef was incredibly tender. Very good. The Szechuan crispy shrimp was WOW. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, crispy, extremely flavorful and the heat was fantastic. This place is a little pricey but the portions and overall food quality make it easy to justify. read more
