I have been going here for the better part of 18 years. It has always been my go-to. The prices have gone up a bit but not more than anyone else and their portions make up the difference and will keep me going back. My favorites are General Tso's Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Orange Chicken. Honestly I'm a creature of habit for the dishes I like. They were closed for a bit and I feared the whole covid debacle had done them in but I was told they had some issues with staffing but are now back. We love this place for take out. It is very good and the menu accurately describes the meal. Many times Thai or Chinese food places I've visited leave you hoping what you ordered is something you'll like. Well this menu means what it says...ie if it says spicy it'll be spicy. There is no place to sit and dine in at this place but they do prepare and sell your food very quick after you order. If you're looking for a solid take out place this won't disappoint. read more

Called in an order at 6:27 they took my order. Showed up about 10 minutes later and was told they didn't have my order and was rudely told by the lady in front that I should double check where I ordered which I did. Since I thought it was just maybe human error which happens and is okay. I was going to try and just reorder while I was there. And then was told that it's rude to order from one place and not go pick it up. Which is true but I'm not sure what other place I would've ordered it from since I called their phone number. Tried to save face as I told her the number I called from is the correct one. But horrible service from the person at the front. Which is sad since everyone else is and has been extremely nice every other time I've gone. read more

GIANT portions... one plate (includes entree and side) is enough to easily feed 2-3 hungry people. Not kidding. We always have plenty of leftovers. They get 2 stars for being super friendly, clean, and prompt but unfortunately the food just isn't great. We've tried twice now and both times left us longing for the east coast. All entrees have an overwhelming vinegar taste, chicken in General Tso's didn't seem the freshest, and veggies underdone. On the upside, the spring rolls were excellent. Best Chinese food in town. Always look forward to coming back to Midland to get some food from Great Wall. Only downfall is for the past six months it's been hit or miss when you go. Sometimes they are open, sometimes they aren't. It's so worth the wait though when they are open though. read more

We ordered two dishes. Kung Pao chicken and Sechwan Beef. Both were laden with oil that it seeped through the boxes and bag. The Kung Pao had peanuts and a load of green peppers, no other vegetables like bamboo shoots and water chestnuts. The Sechwan Beef came loaded with broccoli and jalapeños. The sauces for both dishes tastes the same. Very disappointing and very oily. read more

This has been my go to place for Chinese for years. Don't know if they got a new cook or new owners but it has gone horribly down hill. General Tso's chicken was so bad we couldn't eat it. Called to inform them and told them I didn't want anything and just wanted to let them know and got some indifferent employee who was annoyed I called and didn't even attempt to apologize. The first time my husband ordered, he was disgusted and threw it away (a big deal to him) but we gave it a second chance and ordered the orange chicken and chicken chow mein. Both were amazing! Wifey and I stopped here on our (nonstop) coast-to-coast return-from-family-Christmas drive. Realizing we weren't going to make it to El Paso while any comparable restaurants were still open, I decided that we should stop in Midland, not least because I weirdly love the petroleum smell that permeates the Permian (yes, seriously... and look how I did that). I called a certain Chinese place in Midland. No answer. Tried this place next; verified that they have broccoli with spicy garlic sauce; decision made. Boy was I glad the first place didn't answer. We ordered lots of stuff. Which turned out to be a mistake, because the portion sizes are ginormous-- especially for the house specials. But which turned out not to be a mistake, because I got 3 meals out of the stuff I ordered. (Knowing me, this is no mean feat.) We were greeted warmly by a very personable young woman who was just _floored_ that, of all the places on earth, we'd pick her restaurant. The food was hot, well prepared, and, well, ample. We tried this place for the first time last night (3/16/2015). We purchased Mongolian Beef and Hot & Sour soup in a pint. So to break it down, the white rice we had (I forgot to request fried rice instead) was not hard or slimy but fresh and hot. The Mongolian Beef was seasoned nice and I always love that "fire" flavor it has. Some places can't do it very well or at all. Great Wall did and it's great. The Hot & Sour soup was nice and hot. ** Updating this review since the first visit requires me to remove two stars. Just the idea that you run a takeout in Midland and close by 930 pm on Fridays is beyond me. Until they get reasonable hours on the weekend I'm sticking with the Grand Buffet. They stay open till 10 and won't deny you service if you happen to walk in a few minutes late. read more

Got beef fried rice. Rice was good, beef was soggy and would more appropriately be used as dog food.

Not the best chinese out there....but it is tasty chinese. Can be a little variable, especially the fried rice. Take-out only, not terribly pricey, and they are FAST. I'd give 3.5 stars, but we can only do whole stars, so they get 4.... :D read more
