Well worth the wait! The portions are huge! The food is savory and fresh. The service is always great. but the food! The food! Is amazing! Only breakfast joint where I've ordered an omelet and have to box it up and take home leftovers. Today I was blown away but finally eating the Chicken and Waffles. This is by far the best breakfast place I have ever been to. I have tried multiple things on the menu and everything has always been fantastic (the Biscuits and Gravy is my Favorite). The food comes out super fast (less then 10 minutes or so) and the wait staff is usually really fast and friendly. I highly recommend this place!! read more

I went here for my sisters 8th birthday breakfast. It was my first time eating here but my family had all eaten here before. The host staff was awesome and the food was good. We started with one server and then got switched to a different because something about their rotation getting messed up is what they said. The first server we had seemed awesome and very attentive. The second server we had lacked attentiveness. It took forever for the server to take our food order and finish taking drink orders (as the first server started and then passed off the table). The food is delicious. I ordered the banana bread fresh toast and their potatoes. Their orange juice is fresh squeezed. Their COVID precautions are not the best- many servers do not wear their masks properly (over the mouth and nose). I will return and give them a second chance to do better with their service skills. Their omelettes are huge and could easily be split between 2 people and my dad ordered the chicken and waffles and said that was very good. read more

This place is absolutely the best! My husband and I were in the area to do some thrifting one day and we decided to go to Yelp to find some place to eat. eat at Syrup popped up and had great reviews so we decided to check it out. What a great decision! This place is fantastic! The food is really good and made with care. It's not just schlepped together. The food is fresh and they have many options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Their service is also top notch, everyone is so nice and courteous. You must try the Billion dollar bacon . It's just the best thing ever!! It's truly addictive. Last time we were there my husband tried the breakfast sliders - amazing! I've had the veggie Benedict with veggies and poached eggs atop potato pancakes and and on our recent visit I had the Home Sweet Home - a breakfast bowl with baby kale, goat cheese, red peppers and eggs any style on top of roasted sweet potatoes. OMG! It was sooooo good. We live in Wheeling which is almost an hour away but we'll make the trip any time to have food this good! Check out the photos below. Don't think about it just go! read more

I was visiting my family and this is the first place they brought us after picking us up from the airport. I'm from Texas so southern food is something I'm quite familiar with. This is not quite how we do southern food but my oh my!!! I love that this place took southern dishes and put a twist on them! This is absolutely DELICIOUSNESS! Will definitely be wanting to come back when I'm back in town! Also I can't not talk about the staff!! They were so kind and attentive! Set a beautiful tone for the whole trip' read more

Now going on 1.5hrs... had to leave because we have a 7month old baby and we still haven't gotten in to eat. Pretty ridiculous. 1.5hour wait? Going on 2 hours... and still haven't had the text yet saying we're ready. I miss Colonial Cafe. Least you could get in and out and actually eat your food in a timely matter. Won't bother going back here. Its freaking eggs and pancakes, not a 5star steak restaurant. A wait this long for breakfast food is just horrendous. We are home now and will order LUNCH from another place considering it's now 1pm. Pathetic. read more

The MANAGEMENT TAKES THE TIPS LEFT ON TOGO ORDERS!! They DO NOT DISTRIBUTE IT AMONGST THE WORKERS. I feel like this is a crime since they don't want to up the pay for the positions who cook and package the Togo orders . They say it's for the teams party's but they don't do any thing for the team as an incentive. I hope you don't take this as an attack to not eat there, I'll admit the food is amazing however It's very wrong for the them to add a tip section that only gives to the Owners and NOT THE STAFF. read more

We went around 1pm on a Friday and realized they were closing at 230 . My husband ordered the Ultimate bloody and I ordered a prosecco style cocktail. They have many drink options. I literally ate at this place twice in one day. Both times breakfast. The first round, I got the hugest fluffy veggie omelet ever. The potatoes are unique (not hash browns), and really tasty. Lunch was a butcher's skillet. But I'm not a sausage guy, and I wanted more veggies, so they subbed asparagus for the sausage, and it was incredible. Maybe just a bit salty because of the pit ham in it. But soooo good. And I absolutely loved both the pancakes and the various syrups I tried. And great service both times to boot. Great place. Check it out. read more

We were going to go to Burnt Toast but while driving there remembered that Syrup just opened. They have a lot of outdoor seating so we decided to try it out. We sat outside but had to walk inside to get there. The decor is bright and simple and looks very inviting. Large open floor plan. To our surprise, they had a few choices of mimosas. I got an original and my husband got a strawberry. Both were tasty. The selection for breakfast was huge. We had a hard time deciding what we wanted because so many sounded delicious. I decided to get the Legendary Breakfast because I wanted to try eggs and pancakes or French toast but there was not a lot of options with this as a side. My husband got the Home Sweet Home. We both really enjoyed our food. The only thing I was not a fan of was the cinnamon butter then put on the French toast. I'm sure others would like it, is just not something I enjoy. We will be back to try other options. The biscuits and gravy is next for me! read more

me and my 2 friends got seated, food came fast but the waitress David was not the best waitress. Did not say you're welcome every time we said thank you and when we went to pay he slammed the pay machine down and walked away without saying a word or telling us to have a good day. read more

Glad to know this place is still great! It had been far too long since our last visit and they made some improvements to the outdoor tent since we were last there. It was bigger, heated, and even carpeted. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend the Maui waffles. Wow. It's one of those foods that make you "hum" while you're eating it, if you know what I mean. I like that you can get it as an upgrade from the standard toast or pancakes with an egg breakfast too. This is by far our favorite breakfast spot! read more

Do yourself a favor and go eat at Syrup. My wife and I were visiting family in Crystal Lake and were craving brunch so we stopped in and that place was HOPPING! We ordered the California eggs Benedict and the crepes and they were amazing. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The limeade has basil in it too and was very refreshing. Food was fresh, plated well, staff was friendly, and the place felt so clean and open. They seated us so we were distanced from other tables, but the place still felt social and lively. Haven't had that experience at a restaurant since before the pandemic. Great place for a breakfast or lunch date, business lunch, or morning out with the fam. I was in Algonquin with my family running errands on a Saturday morning in dire need of brunch. We stumbled upon this gem called Syrup. From what I hear it's new, but things were humming along like a well-oiled machine. There was an exciting buzz in the air. Syrup offered both dining outside and inside the establishment. We opted to have brunch inside. I'm glad we did. The interior is light, bright, clean, and very inviting. Our server was very knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful when it came to making suggestions when asked. In fact, I ordered the Chicken and Waffles Deluxe on his recommendation and I couldn't have been happier! I order the small version and honesty it was so filling it tied me over until dinner. The hand-dipped chicken breast was HUGE, flavorful, and very tender. The server told me it is marinated overnight in a special buttermilk blend. It also came with a special chipotle maple syrup and cinnamon butter! Awesome! Everything our table ordered was fantastic, from the Funky Monkey french toast (house-made banana bread, caramelized cinnamon bananas, whipped cream, pecans) Bananza Waffle (lots of sweet, sticky, cinnamon drizzle w/ bananas and the signature Buttermilk Syrup) to the waffle Mini Flight (one of each of the 4 signature waffles that they do)! All of the house-made syrups were on point and very tasty. I almost forgot about the Billion Dollar Bacon. With a name like that you have to deliver, right? I wasn't expecting the bacon to be as good as it was. The entire family fought over the brown sugar and spice-rubbed hickory-smoked bacon goodness. I have no idea what magical spices are used in the smokey, sweet, savory, and slightly spicy pork product, but next time we will order 2 plates of this beautiful bacon masterpiece. There were so many other interesting and items on the menu that we didn't get to try that we will definitely have to come back for soon. I have my eyes on the Market Crepe with off-the-bone ham caramelized onions, cheddar, and hollandaise sauce or the Cluck Cluck skillet with more of that hand-battered chicken (it's amazing), chorizo sausage gravy, smoked bacon, crema and chives on a bed of crispy seasoned potatoes and 2 eggs! I saw one of these being served to a nearby table and almost added it to my order! 5 Stars all day long! read more

This place is the absolute BEST breakfast food in town! We have lived in the area for 5 years and love breakfast! I have a gluten allergy and feel like there are lots of unique options for me every time we go. The service is friendly and the coffee is AMAZING. We've been four times. Four. This place has been open for a month and we've gone four times. It's so good! The best part, though, is their homemade syrups. Yes. Plural. The buttermilk vanilla syrup is the most amazing sauce/dip/excuse to sugar up in the morning. If you're in the area, this is a MUST try. read more

Went with my wife on opening day and left the restaurant fully satisfied. The food was fresh and portions were bigger then average. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delivered within 10 minutes. Bloody Mary wasn't only a tomato juice with pepper, you could taste vodka, horseradish and Tabasco sauce in it, slightly spicy. It's a brand new restaurant so interior looks clean and modern with white, grey colors and birch wood theme. Buttermilk syrup was a great option for pancakes. We definitely will be back within a few days with our family. Hopefully they can maintain the same level of service and food quality for years to come. Delicious food plus quick, knowledgeable service is a key to successful business( even when the prices are slightly above average). read more
