The bacon that was ordered extra with the pancakes was barely cooked. The blueberry pancakes crumbled like they were gluten free - strange texture. I don't like to write a lot of reviews but I really have to commend this place. To preface everything, my family and I visit this restaurant often. I was there on Easter Sunday with my family enjoying my (delicious) meal when we heard some commotion at a nearby table. The commotion was coming from a server who seemed to be having some sort of informal meeting with upper management. The server was basically yelling at upper management and being very rude. I don't even think upper management was able to get a word in. Since I'm always here with family, I know one of the managers on a first name basis (Eric). Eric is such a kind and helpful employee. He was one of the individuals being yelled at by this server. I'm not sure the other managers name but she had dark hair. They did a great job handling the very uncomfortable situation. I felt so bad for both of them having to deal with this situation on top of a holiday weekend. Besides the managers handling this situation with such grace, everything else was awesome! I usually hate writing reviews, but I had to say something about this. I came in with my family on Easter and was given amazing service. The food was great and the employees were wonderful. However, we overheard upper management trying to scold an employee for some reason. She kept asking for an example and they couldn't even give her one. It seemed like they just wanted to let her go. Meanwhile, these two upper management people were taking all the labor hours on Easter but not setting a good example for their employees by actually working they were sitting the whole time, probably figuring out how to write her up or fire her. One of them was a girl with jet black hair, and she had another guy with her. The way they were treating this girl was disgusting. I've had bad management before and this set me off. I don't know what she did, but it's not always the employee's fault and the way they were going about it was completely unprofessional. I went up and told them how rude it was to be doing this on Easter, and they laughed straight in our faces. This place has no empathy for their employees. I'm glad we overheard this conversation coming from upper management because now we know. I really liked the food here and the employees, but just because of how upper management was treating her, it's a no go. We will not be returning because of specifically upper management. I've been to Buttered Toast many times; mostly with friends or with my kids before a day of shopping (we used to always have brunch here on our school supply shopping day). This visit was with my mom and 17 year old daughter for a late breakfast before spending the day shopping. We arrived at around 10:30 and we were seated right away. Our waitress was super pleasant and attentive but not overly so. My daughter had the chocolate chip pancakes, my mom had an omelette and I had a kids turkey sandwich. We came here for a weekend early brunch and although they were busy, we could see they were very well staffed and there was good turnover of tables. Our waitress was excellent even offering my parents extra strawberry lemonade to go. Can you say disgusting? That's how I would describe buttered toast. Had the displeasure of coming here with husband. Typically we go to Syrup (we will be back to Syrup!) after our disgusting experience at Buttered toast. This is probably one of the worst breakfast places that I have tried and I have eaten at countless restaurants both in the US and abroad. I ordered what I frequently order at Syrup - crepes. How can you screw up crepes? The menu clearly states that the crepes come with either strawberry, blueberry or bananas I think. Everyone with half a brain also knows that crepes are filled. What the heck? The crepes are so old that they are cracking. How cheap are they that they essentially serve empty shells of old dough and call it a crepe? This inept waitress comes back like she has no common sense and asks how everything is tasting - I said terrible and she walks away. My husband's dish was equally disgusting - the bacon was the cheap type - flat, thin and greasy. At Syrup, Pancake house and most other good quality restaurants bacon is thick, curly, crispy. Not this garbage that they serve here. The eggs seemed fake - he ordered scrambled egg and he got a square dense thing of yellow looking artificial crap. He couldn't believe how dense his "eggs" were. The French toast was disgusting also - a thick chump of cheap bread with egg, and cinnamon. Gross. Yum, yum, yum! Although we had visited Burnt Toast for breakfast on many occasions, we'd never ventured into their lunch menu. What a mistake! Our food was so, so delicious. Never expected to get such a tasty burger at a breakfast place! Also, it was cooked to a perfect medium - not a rare feat, at all. My wife RAVED about the chicken pot pie.
