Yum, yum, yum! Although we had visited Burnt Toast for breakfast on many occasions, we'd never ventured into their lunch menu. What a mistake! Our food was so, so delicious. Never expected to get such a tasty burger at a breakfast place! Also, it was cooked to a perfect medium - not a rare feat, at all. My wife RAVED about the chicken pot pie. Hands down best breakfast in Algonquin. Servers plug in order on computers that are sent to cooks, which expedites your food getting to you quick. Burnt Toast is always my granddaughter and wife's first choice. The wife loves the fact she can get lunch at breakfast time. My granddaughter loves the cheese burger. I think most of their dishes are over priced for the taste, quality, and portion size. Usually if someone suggests going to a breakfast restaurant, I'll order from their lunch menu. I'm just not an eggs and bacon kind of girl. However, if someone suggests Burnt Toast, I'm in! The food is what I like about this place. While those who are with me think I'm crazy, I love the Banana Split Pancakes. What you could get could feed at least two or three people, but boy are they delicious! The dining area is a bit out dated and small. It also gets very loud, so if you're there on a busy morning, be prepared for a bit of noise. Also, I would recommend not going here on a holiday unless you've called ahead. I meet with friends once every couple of months and not only is the food very good but they allow you to enjoy your meal at your pace. Our last time trying burnt toast was awful. There was hair in our food and the manager was very apologetic and I do understand that this happens but it's disgusting. Unfortunately, our brunch was ruined and the food is not good enough to give them another chance. We've been here a few times and it's always just been pretty busy and I don't know why. I am in town visiting my friend and she wanted to go to Buttered Toast for her birthday breakfast. I was impressed with the restaurant upon entering and we were greeted with multiple smiling faces along with a "thank you for your service" for my friends husband. Our waitress was Amanda. I enjoyed her recommendation of the Greek toast with my spinach and Gruyère omelette. She did not disappoint me on keeping my coffee hot and my cup full. I went here last week for breakfast (day after Christmas) with friends after one friend suggested it. I looked up reviews, had a good rating on Yelp, so we headed over! The parking lot was jammed packed so we were a bit worried about the wait but with all the people waiting it was only 10 minutes for the three of us. Service wasn't very friendly or very fast but it was decent enough. We didn't have silverware - had to ask twice to get some, also, but all in all was decent enough. I ordered the Meat Lovers Omelette which had ham, bacon, sausage. It was very tasty but I had to pay extra to get cheese in it...Seems a bit strange to pay extra for cheese in an omelette, but whatever. It was a bit dry but overall the flavors were good. I was able to change out the pancakes that came with my meal for Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip Pancakes. Oh my goodness, they were absolutely delicious pancakes! They also have chocolate batter pancakes but I think I made the right choice in going with the chocolate chips. They were sooo crazy chocolatey! It also came with grits which were meh. Not the best I've had and not the worst I've had....they tasted a bit rubbery to me though. I also got a Ghirardelli Hot Chocolate which was topped with a ton of whipped cream, Christmas sprinkles, a candy cane and chocolate syrup. It was huge, so tasty and so rich! Absolutely delicious but this was a chocolate overload for breakfast! This was a massive amount of food---way too much! I ended up taking most of it home because the hot chocolate was so filling. I think the food is very hit or miss here...what's good is amazing and what's miss is just very mediocre. One of our favorite brunch place to go to. It's busy almost through the week . Be prepared for a short wait depending upon the rush. Servers are nice and polite. The menu is good. The food quality has gone down since the Plandemic but the prices has skyrocketed. Including tip I paid $30 for two eggs, hash browns, bacon, grits, and dry white toast. The bacon was undercooked, the ham in the potatoes was undercooked as well. The eggs was so runny I had to catch them before they ran out the door!!! Buttered Toast has become our go to breakfast stop when visiting family in Algonquin. We always ask for Bianca for great, fast and friendly service. The menu covers our needs. We split our menu choice on this day and Bianca brought it out in two plates for us. My husband and I frequent Brunch Cafe as our go to breakfast spot. Our friends love Burnt Toast so we decided to give it a go and join them for breakfast one Sunday. They really talked Burnt toast up and I have to say we were both disappointed. This place is definitely more beat up inside, the service was okay, the coffee was not good and the food was just average. Recently visited the newer location in the old Ruby Tuesday building, which appeared to be lightly renovated. In spite of the lacking service (it was a busy Sunday brunch) the food makes this a solid 4-star review. Once our order was taken the food runner was the last person we saw until we were nearly done; no checkup from the waitress to make sure the order was correct or to ask for additional items. Also had no water refills until we were ready for the check. The place was emptying out and them the waitress started come back around, so either she was a little spacey or they were understaffed that morning. Pancakes were as good as were in the old place, and the menu seems to have expanded, with a larger kitchen most likely. I opted for the seafood omelet which can sometimes be a risky maneuver but it was done really well. The side of wheat toast was burnt, but we sort of laughed at the irony. There seem to be a million awesome breakfast places in Algonquin and I am jealous. I came here on a Sunday morning with the boyfriend to enjoy a nice brunch. It was a little hidden since it is set back, but we found it okay. I ordered a Strawberry Orange Mimosa which I highly recommend. It had great flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Spinach and grueyre cheese omelet. I substitute the pumpkin pancakes to go with it which were awesome, but I didn't realize they came with nuts, so I gave the top one to my boyfriend. We also got a side of corn beef has which we scarfed. Everything was awesome here and the service is good. Great great breakfast and brunch restaurant. First of all this was my first time here and I had just ran the muddy buddy so I was hungry for some good breakfast so I went on yelp and found this place. Once I came in, I saw a familiar face and that was a friend of mine that used to go to college with so that was really nice seeing her again. Despite that the restaurant was packed they sat us right away the first thing I noticed was the coffee cups they weren't those little cups you usually see in the breakfast places. These cups were huge and they kept it full. We were ready to order and about 15 minutes later our food arrived. Outstanding service. Now to the good part (the food). I order the baby spinach and gruyere omelet with hash browns and wheat toast. Hash browns.... the best hash browns I've had in my entire life the crispness of it and the flavor it's perfect and not to greasy like other restaurants. Now the omelet, it might look small and not very filling but trust me it fills you up. But the eggs are nicely cooked along with the cheese and spinach . I couldn't be more satisfied with this place. Service absolutely sucks had to ask a different server for a drink refill because my server was missing in action. This is, hands down, the best breakfast place in Algonquin/Lake in the Hills. Family owned, Burnt Toast has a great selection of classics, plus some unique offerings as well. My standard order is the Gyros Omelette, which comes with tomato, onion, and feta. The combination of the savory gyro, tied with the creamy sharp feta, makes it such a tasty breakfast dish. Plus the portion is huge! Service is always top notch. Servers know their menu and are open with recommendations.
