Well To start off we have been eating at the burnt toast in Elgin for many years and the food quality went down and when we went to the one in Algonquin we didn't get a chance to eat the food because of the waiter giving us an attitude as if we were bothering her after asking her to please repeat herself because she was speaking to fast for us to understand then when we tried to confront her to her owner, the owner replied as if she had done nothing wrong. The people at burnt toast have been showing worse and worse quality over time and we now refuse to eat there from now on please be cautious before going to eat at either of these locations. read more

My husband and I always go to Burnt Toast because of the staff and quality of the food. Both excellent!! I brought my friends to this restaurant last Saturday and it's their new favorite breakfast spot. Fantastic! read more

Everyone loves a good breakfast and it's not hard to make a good breakfast. What is hard is making a great breakfast, consistently and serving it with class. This place does all that and makes it seem easy. read more

While the hours may be short compared to other breakfast places the food is delicious! I have never been disappointed with any breakfast I have had here! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of their coffee. To me it always taste bitter no matter how much cream and sugar I add. Now with pick up options I can enjoy their food with a great cup of my own coffee at home!! read more

Used to love coming here for breakfast however after today I won't be back. Prices have skyrocketed and all your food comes pre cooked and Luke warm at best. Service absolutely sucks had to ask a different server for a drink refill because my server was missing in action. Place appears dirty and whoever painted this place needs to have his paint brush confiscated. My 2 year old grandson could do better. Sorry management you lost a customer. read more

French toast was great, pancakes were pretty good too. will be going back for sure to try something else

Have been going here almost two decades and it still reigns number one in my book! Always clean and courteous.

I was very disappointed with burnt toast. We had gone on a Tuesday for a late Mother's Day brunch. We went in around 1:30. We mixed up the times and thought they closed at 2:30. They closed at 2:00. We were instantly greeted with dirty looks. While I understand that it is frustrating to have customers walk in 30 minutes before close, a simple "sorry we are no longer seating" would have been understandable. Instead we were left standing there ignored. Good thing Syrup was right across the street where we were greeted and seated :) read more

I was in today. The food is usually good but my wife, although vaccinated is health compromised, asked the server ,who was not wearing a mask, if she was vaccinated. She said "no". My wife asked her if she could put on a mask. She just shrugged her shoulders and did nothing. We got up to leave and my wife asked another server if she could see the manager. Apparently the manager was too busy. Now for the unbelievable part. The server who was speaking with my wife said "How do you know she wasn't vaccinated?" My wife said "I asked her and she told me." The server said "That was stupid she should have lied." This speaks of extremely poor management, poor training and the staff just not caring about the customers at all. As I said, the food is pretty good, but there are a lot of breakfast places. I'm out. read more

The place looked nice inside. It wasn't busy hence the fast service and decent wait staff .order 2 eggs over easy sausage and hash browns.Eggs looked poached not over easy And Cold.Sausage Cold. Hash brown none existent and really cold.Toast ok.My daughter took me here we went for her b day breakfast.I didn't want to ruin her meal so I said nothing but she felt the very cold hash browns and had that o no look .I said nothing .For only the few people in there I'd expect a hot meal .Wont be going back at least not me read more

Burnt Toast - Once again another good looking plate but very cold and there over easy eggs looked like poached eggs - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Algonquin, Illinois

Breakfast is bland, boring but with excellent service, which this review does not reflect. High price does not justify uninspired menu options nor flavor. Will pass in the future. read more

No words to describe what a wonderful place burnt toast is! Everything is spectacular! Great service. Most of the time there is wait time but totally worth it. Lines of people only means this place is amazing!!! They should just have the option to do a get in line on this app. Love this place! read more

This is only the second time I've been here (visiting family, I live in Los Angeles) and the staff is always friendly and The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It is definitely a family environment. My mom always gets the two eggs special and it is her favorite. This time around I got the eggs Benedict but I wasn't overly impressed. Unfortunately the eggs were overcooked and the hollandaise sauce lacked flavor. The atmosphere and the fact that this is my mom's favorite place Is why I wanted to give it 3 stars. But our waiter at Edger was the reason or the fourth star. He was very attentive. read more

The food here is always good and the service is always up to par. Coffee flows freely and you get what you order. The only problem is in the weekend there is a short wait at times but this is a good thing. Grand Marnier French toast is my favorite. Yum yum yum yum!!!! read more

My first time at Burnt Toast. I thought this was a very classy and popular place. I was very disappointed. First, I wanted to enjoy a mimosa to start my morning off right. It was terrible, there were clumps in the OJ & they added a disgusting strawberry on the side to be "classy". I didn't even want to drink it. Once we got our food the biscuits & gravy were cold. COLD. How are you gonna bring out cold food? They were so salty & tasteless it felt like I was eating a finger. I ordered the Eggs Benedict (see picture) it looks like something that I could have seen in the toilet. A mess. The avocado was so hard and not fresh at all.. the spinach was everywhere. I would have rather went through a McDonalds drive through than go back to Burnt Toast. Over priced for crappy quality. Don't recommend. read more

They are so nice here. My favorite server Alex unfortunately is no longer with us, but this place always had me feel at home. The hostesses are always smiling, and even now with the pandemic, the servers have a smile you can see through the mask lol! read more

Love this brunch place! Food is always to die for, coffee is excellent. Service is impeccable, we have never had a bad meal here

Came in late on a Saturday morning during the rush and had to wait less than 5 min only, got our food extremely fast and were able to enjoy our meal without any complaints whatsoever. Portions were very generous & great prices. Will be becoming a regular here, pulling me away from other breakfast joints. read more

I was at this location on Thursday afternoon taking a little break from my work from home day. 1st this location has such a great staff everyone is so nice and says hi when simply walking past or helping you. Now to the important stuff, the food! Excellent! I've never had a bad meal here and I get something different everytime I go. This last time I went simple with eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast and everything was cooked exactly as I asked. Please feel free to reach out if you need a recommendation! read more

First time here for our party of 8. We waited approximately 30 minutes as it was the Saturday after thanksgiving. Service was outstanding and food was served fast. I found everything to be top quality. My only complaint was the pancakes weren't the best. I will definitely return as the menu is quite extensive and I look forward to trying some of the other items. A great breakfast spot and will definitely return. I High recommend this spot. read more

I won't be going to Burnt Toast again. Their treatment of the Covid-19 is among the worst I've witnessed. Not one mask among the help. I asked my server if she was vaccinated and she told me it was none of my business. The manager came over and said they did not need masks or vaccines. I left their establishment and went next door to syrup . They were vaccinated or masked(in our case our server was vaccinated and masked). read more

I'll tell you, speaking on a "gluten-free" note, these guys really have their stuff going on! This is my wife and I's favorite breakfast spot! As a single guy, I love that they have a bar. (Not an alcoholic type bar [although they do serve mimosas], a bar around the drink prep area) I almost never hafta wait for seating for 1, even when it was Easter and mother's day, I had a seat within 2 minutes of walking in. Food is great, and you get a LOT of it. So popular, you may need to park on the Meijer's side. Sitting at the bar also nets you the entrainment of watching the staff interact, which, if you're by yourself beats the heck out of being bored by yourself. read more

Great breakfast joint with attentive service. I got the breakfast burrito which was AMAZING! My guests ordered various egg dishes and they were all good made with care and served with a smile. Can't beat that! read more

Overall, a below average breakfast place. I started going here because it was close to places I stop on my usual Sunday shopping runs. Service is ok (sometimes great, but on the whole, just ok). The place is never quite clean (this is both a staff issue, and the fact that they have old carpet throughout the place). Food is iffy... presentation just sucks. Mediocre, poorly cooked, over priced... just some words I can use to describe the place. Pancakes are light and fluffy, but by the time you get 3/4 through your place of them, you just want them to go away. They start to seem very heavy and icky. I have met the owner, Constantine, and he seems over impressed with his place. Yes, he may claim to use organic lettuce and ghiradellhi chocolate chips, but even the so called best ingredients do not fix crappy food or crappie recipes. I seriously believe (just from taste) that the crepes here are store bought and microwaved!! Definitely NOT fresh. If you watch the British version of Kitchen Nightmares, this place is exactly like the Priory... read more

Wow- It seems like I must have gone to a completely different restaurant than those who gave reviews here. First off, the food is just okay. Honestly, I have never been blown away by short-order cook breakfast food anyways, so this food is a shade better than a breakfast at Denny's. Next, the prices are pricier than that of other breakfast joints. But the added cost does not result in better/great food. Eggs are eggs, hash browns are hash browns, etc. I must admit the pancakes portions are huge (1 star). Service is what sucked. I had to wait 10 minutes for waters; wait 30 minutes for our food (surprising for a breakfast place); wait three cycles by the server for refills; then an additional 4 passes until we could get our check. There's MUCH better breakfast joints than Burnt Toast, with the same/better food quality, plus better service and cheaper prices. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Burnt Toast. read more

Having had breakfast in dozens of places all over the country...Reese's/Burnt Toast is near the top. I get the same breakfast no matter where I go - two eggs, hash browns, toast, bacon, and coffee - and it is nearly always priced the same, ~9. However, what is different about Reese's is that they use much higher quality products. The bacon is thick and amazing as well as the toast and eggs. They have a unique menu and it allows for flexibility at a reasonable price when you want a little bit of everything. I have have few improvements for Reece's except for the fact that I seemed to enjoy it more before it became Burnt Toast...I mean sure the cows everywhere were kind of cheesy, but it gave it character that Burnt Toast does not have. The owner was also much more visible and customer service took a drop since the opening of the other restaurant. In addition, just be aware any time you come in after 1:30 be prepared to have all of the wait staff hustling around trying to restock tables and clean up everything for closing. It def. ruins the relaxing atmosphere, but because it's the only place is town with great breakfast I usually get over the disruption. read more

Best breakfast place in Algonquin, as evidenced by the crowds of people who wait for a table. I would give this place 5 stars if they labeled which items on their menu were gluten free. With breakfast, it's fairly easy (order eggs, hash browns are probably safe), but I can't recommend this as a "GF establishment" without dedicated GF items. Though they do offer GF pancakes as a side. Holla! Food is hot and quick. Waitstaff has always been great. I recommend Burnt Toast if you are not in a rush! read more

We haven't been here in years, but wanted to go back for "old times". And that is what we got....old. Get rid of the smelly carpeting that has food ground in it for years, replace worn away wood furniture. Food was mediocre. This used to be "THE" spot in town. Fortunately, there are many more choices. Freshen it up, update the food and put smiles on your staff. They may help. read more

Definitely worth the wait. Love the stuffed pumpkin cupcakes. Always fast service and the staff really cater to my four year old. Large portion sizing! Recently moved to area and heard great reviews so had to try it. Went in on a Sunday morning. Greeted at door (very friendly) and seated right away. Since this was our first time was torn between a few choices. I asked our waitress, Sia, for her recommendation. So glad I listened!! The food was amazing.I had the French omelette with French toast side and my hubs had the chicken and bacon waffles. So much food, we both brought home leftovers. Sisa was attentive and professional. Definitely would go back!!! read more

One of our favorite breakfast spots! They have a wonderful menu selection, yes - the prices are a little higher, but you get what you pay for! Great portions, never had problems with slow service or waiters (they will keep your drinks filled). Tried many different plates, never had anything we didn't like. I love their coffee bar and selections. If you order a special latte or what not, it's definitely worth it! Be careful what time you come. There can be a line (if your in a rush). This is one of favorite places to have breakfast with my husband. He orders the Mexican skillet and I order the chilaquiles.

Came here on a Saturday with a friend and it was sooo good. Got seated right away which I was expecting longer. The menu was extensive but I tend to judge a place by their pancakes. if they have good pancakes then I know everything will probably be good as well. I ordered an omelet which came with hashbrowns and a choice of pancakes, toast or french toast. It seemed like an insane amount of food bu thought what the heck I can have some leftovers. The omelet was huge, cheesy and cooked perfectly. The hashbrowns were good but I could have done without( I am not a huge potato eater). The pancakes were light, fluffy and really good. I cannot wait to come back here and try their other foods. I also liked the fact that they had mimosas and bloody marys. The price wasn't too bad either. When we got ready to leave we noticed that it was a lot busier and there was a line. To avoid the wait you may want to come a little earlier. read more

I've been to this location once so far. I like the idea of having breakfast later than the usual breakfast hours. My bro, his friend and I went one day. I forgot what I ordered. I think I ordered a skillet. Anyway, staff was nice. Our waitress was sweet. Food was served rather quickly. Food was delicious!!!!!! Actually, the first time I went here was when I thought the family and I were gonna meet here for Mother's Day, but it was at another location since one of my brothers had bad communication. Either way, both locations were so packed for the holiday. I'd definitely go back. read more

This place is as good as it gets when it comes to breakfast. Fantastic food and great service. At first our server seemed a little testy but she lightened up after a few minutes. Probably due to my being a nice guy. :) The food is of great quality and the amount is huge. The slightly higher cost is well worth it. As I was eating it I was in awe as to how the heck to they make these normal items taste so much better than everywhere else. If you like to eat breakfast out this is definitly the place to do it. read more

First time here. Loved the food and the service. You get more than generous portions. Food cane out really fast. Had the breakfast tortilla with hash browns and added cheese and onions to the hash browns. My wife had the steak skillet and a side of pancakes. Overall great experience and will be back. read more

Second visit today and already looking forward to the next! Each time I visited I've been greeted by professional staff. The scene is relaxed and clean. Service is quick and effortless. The food... well it's one of the many reason to go back again and again. Each time I've tried something new and have sampled a bite from other plates at the table. I have yet to try something I didn't like. Avocado toast with the homemade pico is DELISH! Next on my list to try is their bacon chicken waffles!!! Thank you Staci for the home style hospitality. read more

Great breakfasts here. Friendly staff, and the owner likes to stop by all the tables and see how things are going, which is a nice touch. Been several times. The place is decorated with little farm animals everywhere. I like the gyros omlette, corned beef hash, and the greek sausage breakfast. Generous portions. Once we went here and it was about 0 degrees F outside and so many people were going through the door that you could see your breath inside the dinig room. So....beware. read more
