I decided to stop by here since it's right by where I live at Northeastern. Split a drink on my leather jacket to have it dry cleaned, they were 2 days late (warning: DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE) and all seemed good but I found this a rip in my jacket. While I was still at the counter, the woman working refused to believe me that it was new and insisted I was trying to steal from them. Completely refused to even refund the cost of dry cleaning. I'm so disappointed, it looks like the reviews here speak for themselves, wish I checked sooner. read more

Lost my pants (4 pairs of suit pants so not easily replaceable), they kept coming up with excuses for a month about whether they could return them that became obvious blatant lies. Refused to refund the amount paid for dry cleaning the pants, even though they were never returned. Finally went to small claims and the woman (manager/owner?) talked up a storm about how THEY were actually the victim and I was defrauding them. Won the full settlement, but it didn't feel like the first time they've defended themselves to the death. These people are friendly, until they mess up- please save yourself the mess and go to any other cleaner down the street. read more

I like this place because the owners have helped me out a few times in the past. On countless occasions I have come in with clothes having all sorts of stains which I really don't need to get into specifics with. Somehow they make them go away (probably with magic). Mom and daughter are super nice and prices are reasonable (dry cleaning for shirts are $2 a pop). Sweaters and suits are a little more expensive. It is the type of place where they get to know you by name pretty easily thereby giving that personal touch. read more

Awful service. First, I have a shirt which was counted as a sweater because of the length. But actually it has the same length with the common shirt. I have argued but failed. Second, The lady said she could clean up all of the little fur balls on my sweater. When I picked it up, she said the fur balls cannot be removed. Nice people. Terrible service. Didn't deliver on deadlines 3 times on the same item and barely made any effort to fix it. I dropped off two suit jackets and pants for tailoring and dry cleaning on a Monday. I was told I could pick it up on Thursday, 3pm. Great! I have a major event I'm being honored at that night and a company holiday party on Friday. Leave work early and show up at 4pm on Thursday. They spend 15 minutes trying to find my stuff. Nothing. They say that maybe it was all sent to dry cleaning, in which case it wouldn't get dropped off until 5:30 tonight. Wait, 5:30? You told me 3pm. Fine. Whatever. Sucks, but not the worst thing in the world. They tell me they'll call me by 5:30 at the latest to confirm the whereabouts of my clothing. It's 6:30 and I haven't heard anything. I call them and they say they confirmed it's at the tailors still and they messed up the dates. I can pick it up tomorrow. Okay, at least I'll have it for Friday night's holiday party. Friday at 5:30pm rolls around and I call them up to pick up my clothes. They say "Oh, we actually won't have your clothes until Monday because the tailor got sick and couldn't alter them." What do you mean? She wasn't sick yesterday when you had already promised them to me. There goes wearing my jacket to the two most important events of the year for me to actually have it. They promise the clothes to me on Monday morning. Saturday rolls around and I stroll in there with my girlfriend. My clothes are ready. Why didn't they call me to tell me that? I would expect at this point, for a $142 order, they would have it together enough to give me a ring considering my stuff basically went missing. I tell them about my entire situation and they offer me $5 off. Are you kidding me? That's the best you can do? I keep my cool and try to reason with them to give them a chance to do the right thing. The woman apologizes and says she'll call the owner. She talks to her and comes back to me with...$10 off total. What a joke. Awful service. Bad communication. Terrible at owning up to mistakes and making them right. Don't get me wrong - the people are nice and the work was well done but man do they offer miserable service. Do not support this place. I have yet to have anything dry cleaned here, although a dry cleaning place really has to fuck up or thoroughly impress to elicit a review for sending out a shirt or pressing some pleats. This review is for alterations only. The work they do is good, the value (cost for quality of work) it on par with most other dry cleaners who do not specialize in alterations. Where I would differentiate Symphony over others, is the friendly attitude of the people who work there, and their willingness to make things right if they've missed a detail. I took an alteration back after they had missed a specific instruction and without hesitation, they made no excuses and resolved to fix the problem. People determined to stand by their work and make happy customers who want to come back. Giants are def winning this game btw. read more

I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. Based on other reviews I had been warned, but didn't realize how bad they could be. Received some shirts back that were damaged, and when I brought it up with the cashier (she was pleasant at first) she was adamant they had been like that upon delivery. They were not like that. It was apparent no compensation was in the question, but when I refused to pay for the service they SCREAMED at me and demeaned me telling me I was trying to scam them. Performing musicians must always know where to find good tailors. With a busy schedule as is, the quick and correct alteration of a dress is so crucial to the mental sanity of not just musicians, but to all women. That being said, Symphony Cleaners is quite possibly the worst store you can find. Two out of two new dresses have been utterly destroyed by this family business. After tedious days of traveling back and forth to their store and finding mistake after mistake, the mother and daughter will tell you that they cannot fix the "defective dress". I come to Symphony Cleaners every other week to do my dry cleaning. Penny and her daughter are two of the sweetest people I've met since moving to Boston and are always willing to accommodate. They both follow the golden rule and treat everyone EXACTLY how they should be treated. Ive seen customers go in with an attitude, and get a professional tone in return. Go in with the manners your family taught you, and youll be greeted with the warmest of welcomings. My clothes have never been lost or damaged, and if they ever are I would understand that it is a very rare occurrence. When you say "Yes, you can pick it up in two days" over and over, I only naturally assumed you meant I could pick it up in two days. This place ruined my nice white shirt. I wore the shirt once and it has a quarter size wine stain on it. I could clean it myself, but because it was my favorite shirt, I took it for dry cleaning. But not only the stain didn't remove, the shirt itself is ruined too. I should've clean it myself, or be more careful about the bad reviews of this place. read more

There is no shortage of dry cleaners in the Symphony/Fenway area. Of all of the ones I have tried (and I have tried almost all of them), Symphony cleaners is the only one that can deliver consistent, quality, and timely service. Penny cares about her customers and will do everything in her power to ensure that the customer is satisfied. The actual dry cleaning service is also always high quality. I have had other cleaners in the area ruin expensive clothing. After six years, Penny has only helped maintain the quality and longevity of my clothing. I cannot sing her praises or that of Symphony Cleaners enough. Would 5/5 recommend to anyone and everyone. read more

I've had Symphony cleaners do all my dry cleaning for the last four years. They've also done alterations/repairs for me and I've never had a problem. The people that work there are unbelievably nice. If i had to dig for one criticism, it's that they staple tags to labels inside of sweaters/pants that can be hard to get off without damaging the labels. That said, their service is incredible and the rates are competitive. If you ever need to pick up after close (7PM on weekdays), try calling in advance. I've found that they're willing to stay a little later if needed. Good customer service keeps my business! read more

I would give zero stars but not an option. They did alterations on a bag for me without my permission and then tried to charge me double what I actually paid for the bag. I had one of those surprise "Come in on Monday" interviews come up and when I checked my closet my nice white shirt was wrinkled and had a mysterious stain on it. I brought it here around 1pm on Friday and had the shirt back sans stain and wrinkles at 5pm on Saturday. Not revolutionary but friendly service and exactly what I needed. The woman even remembered me and wished me luck on my interview. $2 to wash and press a shirt seems totally reasonable to me, well worth it to not have to break out the iron myself. read more

I picked up my Diesel jeans from Symphony today. I had the waist cut down an inch and the legs tapered a bit. I must say that they did a fantastic job and I am absolutely going to come back whenever I need tailoring in the future. I had 2 types of alterations done. The price was 35 dollars total; the breakdown was as follows: $20 for the leg taper and $15 for the waist. All in all I had a great experience with Symphony's tailoring service! 100/100 read more

This is a great place! I bring all of my dry cleaning here and they are able to get everything back to me by the next day. Whoever they have removing stains is a miracle worker! I brought in pants that had oil stains on them (from a car or something, I don't even know). I thought it was hopeless until the stain masters at Symphony Cleaners made the stain disappear! Uneccaptable and very dissapointing. They gave me a ticket that said 12dollars total including (1 trouser shortening and 1 trouser fixing a hole) and after 5 working days that I went to collect my clothes, one of my trouser was not fixed yet and i had to wait for her to do it at that moment. Then she asked me to pay 18dollars instead of 12, I explained and showed to her what the ticket says but she was arguing and arguing so I paid and left because she was an old lady and I didnt wanna cause any more stressing situation. DO NOT USE THE TAILORING! They destroyed an expensive jacket of mine without asking. I've also had expensive pairs of jeans go missing. I brought a Kiton shirt jacket here. One of the stupidest things I have ever done. I had it lightly fitted to the waist and chest and was told the alterations would be entirely reversible. I received a phone call from the manager asking if it was OK to cut the collar. I said no way and she started pretending not to know what I"m saying and going "oh so it is OK?" and I kept saying no. I got to the store and it turned out that the collar had already been cut before asking me. The spaces for the collar stays were gone and the shirt was permanently misshapen and completely ruined with no apology. This is a four figure Kiton shirt jacket that I trusted with them. As far as the dry cleaning, it was often not on time, and I had two pairs of Versace jeans left here which were gone for over two years before they found one of them- the other is gone forever. As for the one they found, they weren't sure what work was done, or that I had paid in advance- so they charged me to pick it up 2 years later. This is an awful business. I have only used the best drycleaners in New York and London because I have quality items [Hermes, Paul Smith, Fendi, Ferragamo, Valentino, Brooks Brothers, Vivienne Westwood, Gucci, Prada, Tom Ford, etc.] Competition in the dry cleaning business gives me the luxury of only using the best. Symphony Cleaners are simply the BEST. I implicitly trust this family business with all my dry cleaning, laundry, shoe repair, and tailoring. I moved to Newton Highlands last year and used a highly recommended drycleaner. Comparitively speaking the "great drycleaner" of Newton paled in comparision to Symphony Cleaners . I commute to Symphony Cleaners from Newton because their service, business ethics, customer service skills, and workmanship are perfect [and I am a self-admitted perfectionist].
