Sadly, I was displeased with the employee who took mine and my friend's order. He seemed like he didn't want to answer questions my friend asked about certain drinks. He was rude and acted like he didn't want to help. I felt bad because my friend was here from out of town and I told her how awesome Sycamore Grounds Coffee is but I also told her this will be my first time going to this location (the original). I came here to study and sip on coffee as is my habit when I have a big assignment due. The baristo was very helpful after I explained it was my first visit and gave me a few recommendations on pastries and coffees. I tried the honey macchiato and it was delicious! Unfortunately I can't give a perfect review because the wifi was pretty bad so I couldn't get my studying done. I thought maybe it was just me but the only other guest in the shop was having the same issues. I had to leave to finish my assignment, but my coffee and cookie were amazing! We finally had a chance to stop in and have taste. We had Gun Powder hot tea and a Hazel Nut Latte. The latte tasted great and was comparible to a Starbucks for half the price. The coffeehouse is warm and inviting with small tables and two couches in the middle. Great coffee, service (even by person who didn't even work there), and atmosphere. It's a nice cozy little cafe, and they had plenty of treats available. I had the Macarons, which are made by Maisson Burdisso, I believe. There was apparently only one person working there, but he had a friend waiting there, and she was friendly enough to help me with my order and gave me recommendations (as it was my first time there). I went here for the first time today. I am not sure how long they have been open, but I know it is relatively recent since I pass by there and have been watching them build it. The owner is very pleasant and friendly as are those who work there. They serve most of the types of coffee and coffee drinks you would expect - and even their plain coffee tastes great. Apparently just opened recently; very glad I stopped in for a cup. According to the staff the coffee is supplied from a local roaster - whoever it is, they produce an excellent grind. My first gig as a teen was at a coffee shop for almost 5 years, so I'm a bit of a java snob now. We had an excellent experience here this morning and I'm so excited to have found this place! The jovial baristo told me it will have been open for 2 years in April and I wish I had found it sooner. He asked us how we heard about them and when I told them the Yelp reviews were good, a fellow Yelper already sitting at the front introduced herself. :) We ordered soy lattes and split a blueberry muffin. The muffin was warm and moist and the latte was delightful. Just the right temperature, strong and not smothered in foam like the cappuccinos they try to pass off as lattes at Sbucks. It was so cozy, it reminded me of the coffee shops I used to visit in Austin. Wood floors and comfy couches by their "fireplace" inside a welcoming re-purposed house. I've been here in the morning and had the Pumpkin spice, it was excellent, little foam decoration and everything. Went back recently in the afternoon and through the drive thru, ordered 2 PSL and 2 brownies. The guy at the window was very nice and even tho he had already charged me for my brownies, he came back and said they were out of brownies. I was disappointed and almost threw everything down and left lol jk I said ok... what else do u have with chocolate? He ended bringing me some squared thing that seemed to have a lot of stuff on top and was more expensive than my brownie. I think it was some sort of fudge. I don't remember the name... some weird name for sure...heavenly something...I give up! I dunno... had a bit of chocolate, coconut, some sort of nuts. It was okay just extremely sugary... like I was dying for some water and all I had was coffee! Ok now for my real complaint, the coffee was very blah this time around. Really strong (starbucks strong) and not enough PS flavor! Maybe it was because it was after 5 and I got the leftover or maybe the guy in the afternoon isn't very experienced in making coffee...I dunno. I'm not ruling this place out tho... it's a great little spot, relaxing, homey, warm looking. Next time tho, I think I'll stick to the morning guy and maybe try the breakfast tacos. read more

Absolutely love this place! I'm from the Pacific Northwest, it's a slice of home coming here. Just wish coffees came in more than one size.

Staff is friendly but unfortunately the coffee isn't up to par. Also, not enough pastries to select from and they don't taste fresh.

Finally a good coffee place in the area. Now I don't have to drive to midtown or Montrose for a real coffee. They do it right. I usually get the traditional macchiato (not the fake crap Luke at Starbucks) or a cortado. Always very pleased read more

I come to coffee houses for 2 things; fun fancy coffee that I can't make myself while (2) working on my computer. If their internet isn't working or they don't have internet, then I dont stay. This was my first time here. It's quiet and cute. Love the local honey option and reasonably priced too. Friendly service. But their internet is down so I can't stay because I have work to do.
