I was in town on a work trip and always prefer to check out a more local spot as opposed to Starbucks/Dunkin, so decided to give Black Rock Coffee Bar a try. The drive thru was empty, so I ordered and got my items very quickly. I got a white chocolate flavored iced latte with almond milk and an egg burrito. Beware that the coffee was VERY sweet, so I'd ask for 1/2 sweet next time. The burrito didn't look all that great, but it tasted really good and satisfied me until lunch. Great coffee and solid amount of options but they need to seriously improve the drive through process. The wait times are way too long.

I went via drive thru during the morning shift prior to an appointment across town (an hour drive). Unfortunately, after departure on the highway I bit in to a cold sandwich. I tried to make the best of it by eating around the sandwich on the outer corners thinking it would be ok, but it wasn't. I tried taking a bite removing the meat, but the egg was just as cold. Ultimately, I had to make the best of it and just eat the bread to have something in my system being that I had an hour drive. This was roughly at 9:45 am. I attempted to contact the store via phone, but they don't have phones in store and instead you're routed to their website. Hours later, at 5pm I thought maybe the store would consider a refund. To my surprise the manager Sam refused after I shared my story due to a lack of receipt, not knowing how long I had the left overs, and that it was a half eaten sandwich. I advised that I didn't get a receipt, and that I still had the pending charge on my card. That wasn't sufficient, understandable. I asked if their rewards system would show my recent purchase and the barista said yes, but still her manager said they couldn't do anything for me. I know it appears it's half eaten in the photo, but you can see where I took my initial bite and the spit out the second. Notice the patty is still mostly there. I understand the challenges they must face with customers falsifying returns, but they had the software to prove my purchase and still declined. Something so simple they could have obliged and chose not to. read more

Quite disappointed. Let's start with there were no food items. Sold out. Cashier was nice. I went through the drive thru so I don't have much to say about the inside atmosphere of the coffee shop. First time there, betterp yet first time in Houston, Texas. Iwanted to try a different coffee shop but there was nothing to try but a few drinks. We got hot chocolate and well, that was meh. Black Rock is opening up in my neck of the woods and I realized I didn't review the one in on Bay Area. Like usual when shopping in the area, I get thirsty. This place looked and sounded cool so we made our way through the drive thru. There was a steady line in front of me as well as behind so I felt the pressure to order fast. I asked the very nice employee behind the mic what her favorite was and she suggested the Caramel Blondie. We were in and out quick and I was enjoying the tasty drink on the road. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. My old boss said it was great and I finally was able to give it a try. First off they have a bunch of unique flavored syrups that you don't see at your everyday coffee shop so that made it a little hard to decide. I had gone in wanting a lavender latte and that's what I got. Customer service was good, service was fast and friendly. They had a lot of room to sit and be comfy. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews but this one is due. My 3rd visit to this place and while my wife enjoys the pastries and we both enjoy the beverages, the service is poor at best. Each visit we've found the place adequately staffed. Wait times are very reasonable and the workers appear busy and churning out the drinks. Find a smile? Not going to happen. A stoic "thank you have a nice day" as you shove a drink & a muffin across the counter? If you smiled and said nothing I might have thought you were sincere about having me as a customer. Should the manager read this, maybe bring in a trainer for a 2 hour class. Or you could always hire. read more

Stopped here on the way to a track meet. Staff was nice and really helpful when I couldn't decide on a drink. The place was really clean, and seems like a place I would hang out in if I lived nearby. I came in here at 7 am on a Sunday, so it wasn't quite bumping yet. The coffee was really good, and if I make my way back here again, I will come back here for coffee. I don't care what they think their reasoning is behind it. It's messed up, especially since you would like to call them to let them know that you believe that they're coconut milk that they just served you is bad. Literally all you wanna do is just call and ask them to check the expiration date because somethings wrong with your coffee and you can't do that. You have to send them a flipping email. Black Rock Coffee Bar might be my new go to coffee spot whenever I'm near Baybrook Mall. Quick, efficient drive thru, and great coffee is all I need to start my morning off right. I tried their hot mocha w/ almond milk, caramel blondie iced, and Mexican mocha hot. The hot coffee was just how I like it! Strong aromatic coffee, the kind that fills your car w/ it's life giving energy in the morning. The iced caramel blondie was good too, just a tad sweet for me. The interior of Black Rock Coffee Bar is very modern feeling w/ their cool light fixtures. I could definitely see myself coming here to study or getting some busy work done. Have been here twice and both times have been excellent. Their specialty coffee drinks aren't too sweet & I will definitely be back. If you don't like ultra sweet drinks, get the caramel blondie. If you like richer drinks, get the Blackout (hazelnut mocha). Indoor seating is abundant. Pros include having a drive thru! Happened to come on a Tuesday afternoon and found out they have $3 coffee for students on Tuesdays if you show your ID. The best deal for a caramel Frappuccino (caramel blondie chiller to be specific). It definitely satisfied the sweet tooth but I could see it being too sweet for some. My daughter recommended trying a coffee here. I responded, "why, it's just another coffee place." Gave in and tried it, and learned a lesson. Sometimes daughters DO know best (don't tell her I said that.) The espresso was smooth without the burnt taste we have come to expect from a drive-thru coffee place. Very standard coffee here, nothing too special, maybe a slightly better version of starbucks. Their specialty drinks are more frappe/sweet drinks/smoothie -like, so if you are into that you would love this place. Nothing wrong about it I just don't typically enjoy very sweet coffee. With that being said, I got the mexican mocha and it was not bad! I had to get it less than half sweet, but it was a good study drink! The inside of the coffee shop is pretty big but there's only one big table that's close to the outlet, so if you're studying with friends it's a hit or miss whether you get the big table. There's a lot of smaller tables in the middle but they aren't close to any outlets. There's a few bar type seating along the window with a few outlets. Overall, not a bad place to study, the drinks just aren't my favorite. read more

I saw the long line of cars when they opened and needed to see what the fuss was about. Well in the past week I've been twice and I understand the hype. Black Rock rates up there with Summer Moon Coffee. I've only had the iced Caramel Blondie so far but it is soooo good! The price seems comparable to Starbucks, but the medium cup is 20 oz. so you get more bang for your buck. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu seems pretty simple and straightforward. I signed up for rewards but not sure how many points you need to redeem items. I will be sure to ask on my next visit. read more
