It's a latte with toasted coconut flavors and a hint of pandan which is popular in Vietnamese drinks. I absolutely love it and I find it difficult to try anything else because I just know it hits the spot every time. Now about the Richmond location: it's in the shopping strip across the street from Costco. The parking in front of the cafe can be limited so know that going in. This location is also pretty small, so a lot more to go orders than dining in. I met up with a friend there, found a table for two, and it was no problem. Staff are nice and ambience of the cafe is fine - nothing amazingly special. Drinks are fairly priced but can add up after tax and tip. One cool fact is, Luce Ave Coffee is popping up in various HEB grocery stores, so if you have one of those closer to your house and you need to pick up some grocery items anyway, you can get your coffee fix then. The savory items are good, but I do think they need to work on reheating them. The chorizo empanada had really good flavor, but the outside dough was still soggy because it wasn't heated long enough. It needed more time to crisp up. The same thing happened with the ham and cheese croissant. The bottom was very soggy, and it was only slightly warm throughout. One thing I really hope First Cup considers adding is nutritional information for their menu items. On our last visit, my 15 year old son came with us and wanted to try some things. He has Type 1 Diabetes, and having nutritional information, especially carbohydrate counts, is extremely important because we have to calculate his insulin based on what he eats. The staff did not have this information available or know where to find it. I know nutritional information is not required for every business, but for families like ours, it's not just a preference. Managing Type 1 Diabetes means constantly making calculations to keep my son safe. Without accurate information, we are left guessing, and guessing with insulin can mean his blood sugar goes too high or too low. As a mom, it's hard enough managing all of the daily decisions that come with T1D. My son should be able to go out with his family, try new foods, and enjoy a normal experience without us having to wonder if we are making the right choice for his health. Having this information available would make a huge difference, not only for people with diabetes but also for customers with allergies or other dietary needs. Even with these concerns, we really do love the feel of First Cup. It's a welcoming place with a great atmosphere, and we will continue coming back. I just hope they consider improving the reheating process and adding nutritional information because those changes would make an already great place even better.
