Family owned business. The desserts are definitely my favorite for a sweet treat. I go for the the strawberry pistachio croissant but want to try more from their menu.

Ordered the caramel macchiato I believe and the ginger bread chai latte. Both super tasty.

My kids and I met my sister and her husband there for drinks and a snack. They were having a birthday celebration for the shop being at that location for two years. There is plenty of seating and the service was great. The guy at the cashier was friendly and the lady that made and gave us our drinks was sweet. It's a very open space with plenty g of seating. Kids were playing with balloons and they have a little area with blocks and toys for the little. I liked that. I had the limited time birthday cake late. It wasn't as sweet as I expected but i loved it. The flavor was more coffee facing and that's how i like it. My sister on the other hand likes a sweet coffee. She asked them to recommend something and the guy at the register recommended the Ube oat milk late. I love Ube and to me the drinks was good. Definitely sweeter than mine but still very coffee facing. My daughter had the lemon aid and loved it. I thought it was tart but good. My daughter also got a blueberry muffin that was delicious. Tasted like cake. I got the breakfast bagel on an everything bagel bagel. It was a bit dry but still very tasty. My little man loved it and couldn't wait for me to take a pic. Since it was a birthday celebration they had party decor everywhere and free cake! I'll definitely be back!!

Most people who know me know I don't spend much time chasing fried food. Life's too short for…read moremediocre grease, and if I'm going to surrender to it, it had better be worth the guilt. Today, I was supposed to meet a client at Main 101 in La Porte, but renovations sent us wandering in search of Plan B. That's how we ended up at Wooden Spoon & Bakery--a place that, at first glance, promised fresh bread, pastries, and the kind of comfort food that usually comes with a side of nostalgia. I walked in thinking I'd order a salad. Then something happened. From the host who greeted us to our waitress and the rest of the staff, there was an infectious excitement about the day's special: a simple cheeseburger. No gimmicks. No towering masterpiece held together with a steak knife. Just a cheeseburger made with confidence. Their enthusiasm was enough to change my mind. Naturally, I added onion rings. If you know me, you know that's never a difficult decision. What arrived at the table was one of those rare moments that reminds you why neighborhood restaurants still matter. Five onion rings, each one the size of a small planet, wrapped in a thick, beautifully seasoned crust that was impossibly crisp. Peppery. Salty. Rich. The kind of crust that shatters with every bite before giving way to sweet, perfectly cooked onion. They weren't trying to reinvent anything. They just happened to make the best onion rings I've ever eaten. And I wasn't expecting to discover them in a small restaurant tucked away in La Porte, Texas. The cheeseburger was exactly what it should be: honest, satisfying, and the perfect companion to those unforgettable rings. What made the meal even better was the hospitality. Before we left, the manager, the chef, and several members of the staff all stopped by to make sure everything was right. It wasn't rehearsed hospitality--it felt genuine, the kind that makes you want to come back before you've even paid the bill. Sometimes the best meals aren't found in famous cities or trendy restaurants. Sometimes they're hiding in plain sight, waiting behind an ordinary storefront in a town you've driven through a hundred times. If you ever find yourself in La Porte, Texas, do yourself a favor: stop by Wooden Spoon & Bakery. Order the onion rings. You can thank me later.

She was quick with our drinks and let us look at the menu for a few more minutes. Mom had the Green Tomato BLT, the Missus had the club sammich. But enough about their meals ... I want to review my meal. Their menu lists that the burger is on a brioche bun ... check that one off of the item list. A hearty patty is also placed inside of the bun and along with it are pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato. Check and double Check. Mayo is slathered on the buns, at just the right amounts that make it taste good, but not so much that it slides the innards of the burger all over the place making the chomping experience mushy. Flavors were good, I had just hoped the patty fit the bun a little better. The ratio was a bit more bun sided than oatty sided. My fries, crinkle cut, were seasoned well. Well enough that no ketchup was needed to dip them into for additional flavor. I would have liked a bit more crispiness from a double fry, but these were toothy enough to get a decent mouth feel. The meal for the three of is was about 47.00, so inflation has also hit my hometown dining places as bad as they have hit my current home near The Woodlands. Will i return to eat there the next time I visit Mom? If she wants to go, then yes, yes I would. I would also hit it alone just for their chicken fried steak or chicken. Ciao, Darrell
