We wanted a Cuban sandwich and this seemed to be the closest place open that served Cuban food. Fortunately for us it was open! Great sandwiches and atmosphere. Family style service and quality. The sandwiches were large and well stuffed with shredded pork and sliced ham. I would have liked a little more salami, mustard, and pickles, but that didn't change the deliciousness of the sandwich. $9 for a great sandwich and the atmosphere is well worth it. The food was so amazing. I highly recommend trying their sweet empanadas, specifically the cream cheese and Guayava!! It reminds me of my family when they cook Cuban food. The restaurant is hidden and simplistic, but it feels homey and it's honestly a great place to go and do some homework study and have a great meal. Two stars because my previous experience here was a good one and I'm generally lenient. However, I'll never eat here again. I ordered takeout from here last Wednesday. The same guy was at the front as always--long hair, kind of surly. As usual, he seemed exasperated that I decided to buy something from his business. It's always "*big sigh* it's gonna be a few minutes* while he makes a big deal out of making one coffee. Fine, I'm not a stickler, just give me what I pay for... He rolled his eyes, and goes "you're the last order of the day." I asked if he still would take my order, he said yes, so I figured it was fine... Mind you, I'm there 45 minutes before closing. So I wait, I get my order--a Cuban, a steak sandwich and a cafe con leche (iced). The Cuban was disgusting. It was cold, it smelled terrible--like a toilet. The cafe con leche was luke warm and tasted stale. I took one bite of the sandwich and gagged. I looked inside, and he could've taken it out of the trash in all honesty. It felt like he intentionally messed with the food or used old food. The steak sandwich I got my wife, looked just as bad. We threw it away. $35 plus tip down the drain. Really no explanation. I'm friendly, very polite, always tip. He took my money, acted put out about doing his job, then gave me an inedible meal. read more

You ask one of their delicious sandwiches, ,you get a great sandwich. You only want half, you get that, and a little more. You want anything on the Menu, you get it your way. I've eaten here several times since my initial review, and these folks are fabulous. -- On my first visit, it seems they were either really busy (perhaps doing a catering order), or someone might have called out sick. Either way, the service has been clutch many times since then. The food has also been wonderful. I used to eat breakfast only on rare occasions ... until I tried the breakfast sandwiches here. The Cuban has also been consistently fantastic, and the pulled pork sandwich is also really good. The ingredients here are quality, and the bread is outstanding. I'm happy to shop local, and these guys have earned my business in every way. read more

A simple, friendly, hole-in-the-wall sandwich place. I had been several times in the late afternoon, but they were closed. They are only open until 4 PM. Great breakfast pressed sandwich. Great simple Cuban sandwich. Nicely seasoned pan roasted potatoes and onions. Great apple and cherry emplanadas, I think they would be good with ice cream. While waiting, I ordered an iced dark chocolate mocha, best I ever had, and he gave it to me free. Nice local artwork for sale. Great service. Was at the end of my birthday weekend in Crystal Beach and we stayed a couple nights in La Porte. The wife found this place online. We love visiting small, family run businesses so we gave breakfast a shot. This joint is a joint, but in a good way. The owners are so nice and accommodating. I asked for a Ropa Vieja, 3 egg omelet (not on the menu) and they made it. The Cuban Breakfast sandwich is delicious and the bread they use taste as if was flown in from Cuba. The potatoes are crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle (like they all should be) and the empanadas...hands down the best ones so far! And of course the coffee. They have a small coffee menu but so far, everything we've had is great. The Cafe con Leche and the Mocha (dark chocolate, always!) are smooth and delicious! So good that we came here the second day on our way home. We'll be back! read more

The yucca fries are a nice and tasty change from the standard fries you see in most restaurants. The ladies at the front will wrap your sandwich in paper if you need it to go. We have supported this business time and time again just to be upset every time because the breakfast potatoes that come with the mini breakfast sandwich were never ready. We quit coming to this location and started taking our business to the Deer Park location where they never ever disappoint they are always fully stocked with whatever we pick from the menu. The La Porte location is closer to home so today we decided to give them another try after about 6 months without coming here. Well guess what?! No breakfast potatoes again!!!! At this point they need to just do without and take them off the menu. Another thing the breakfast sandwiches come with so little meat, I suggest pressing down on the sausage patty to expand it and make it be fuller at least so that if you don't plan on adding the extra meat to cover the sandwhich (meat that we pay extra for) because when you order the breakfast sandwich that describes what it comes with which shows meat included then at the register they charge you an extra $2.50 for meat. I see the potential here the taste in food is great and the coffees are also great. Its just the small things that makes us support Deer Park location. We won't be coming back to this location in La Porte, you can't convince me different plenty of chances given. read more

Dang it! I want to like this place, but they just can't seem to get it together. Ate here again recently. Out of approx six empty tables four looked dirty or had a mound of junk on them. Cook/owner? Decides to sit down at what looks like a permanent family table of his in the back section and eat instead of clean his establishment leaving us the only customers to eat in a nasty environment. Tried it twice. Not professional at all and won't be back. Oh yeah food rings us higher than the menu stated prices because "they haven't had time to change it." I love Cuban cafe and my only complaint is their hours. Like a lot of businesses in deer park, they have enough business in lunch/daytime that they don't have evening hours. The food is so flipping tasty. I've enjoyed all the empanadas. The salsa is a can't miss. read more

Called in for a to go order, it was ready in 15 minutes. This was my 1st time going to a Cuban cafe. The staff was friendly. The food was great, I don't have any complaints.
