This awesome little gem caught me totally off guard! On the corner of Pansy and Pine in Pasadena, this quaint coffee shop has GREAT coffee!! I had a mocha latte and it was so good I then ordered an espresso. They were both fantastic! The vibe was perfect, as were the pastries we tried, service was even better, and there was merch to boot. I found this place when looking for somewhere to study. They have great coffee and friendly employees. I enjoyed my latte much more here than at chain-coffee-shop-on-every-corner-which-shall-not-be-named... pastries are pretty good here too. Great local place to get a solid coffee! Staff is easy going and friendly. The traffic noise isn't bad so you can totally sit outside and do work. Except those chairs out side...The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars in the outdoor furniture is in really rough shape. Like, you might question sitting on it. I'm a regular here. The girls are amazing! They are always welcoming and recommending good menu items. I am always a supporter of mom and pop versus chains. Chains get boring very fast and mom and pops always make you feel like your going home to your actual mom and pop. Lol the pumpkin brownie is hands down the best brownie I have ever had. The girls heat it up so it's warm and moist perfect with a warm cup of coffee. It can get busy at times, and while they can't have the same number of workers a Starbucks would have, the employees seem to hold their own very well. I've never waited longer than 10 minutes for my coffee and dessert and even that amount of time is rare. Seats are limited as a normal mom and pop shop normally is, but taking it To go is never a bad idea. All and all I love this place and will continue to support their business. read more

Sycamore Grounds has amazing coffee! The service is just as great! The atmosphere was very calm, clean, and enjoyable. It's placed in an old-home like giving it a very homey and comfortable feeling Definitely a local hidden gem! It really is a great place to study or get some work done. They offer a variety of books and play good music in the shop. The staff is very friendly and offer recommendations if you're having a hard time picking your coffee (which happened to me). There is also a variety of pastries to choose from, they all looked very delicious. I am all in with supporting local businesses and this is one of many! Highly recommend to those that enjoy checking out local businesses and especially if you're a coffee drinker. Location is great also if you're from the area and not looking to go far. I don't know about anyone else, but it's rare to find a comfortable coffee shop in the area, excluding Starbucks. Definitely worth it coming here, you won't regret it! I had NO clue this place existed until my friend recommended it to me and all I have to say is that I am oh-so thankful she did. I came in to grab a cup of coffee before band practice one day and it was empty but very cozy. The guy behind the counter gave us a warm welcome and helped us choose items that fit our taste. I got a vanilla french latte and my boyfriend a smoothie and some macaroons. It was all so lovely! It is a refreshing place to visit since it is the only coffee place that I know of that isn't the generic kind. I am definitely coming back for more and preferably to come study since it is such a relaxing place. read more

I used to come here all the time when I worked in Pasadena and LOVED it. Amaya is one of my favorite coffee roasters, plus, since I went about once a week, the barista knew my order before I even had to order which was sweet! And they employees were very friendly and helpful. Over the last year I feel like there has been a breakdown in the level of service, and sometimes quality. I went for their Pumpkin Spice Latte (which was wonderful last year), and I was really disappointed. There was way too much milk, so I could not even taste the coffee or the flavor, and the barista who helped me was impatient with me even though it took me not even a minute to decide between pastries. One of the pastries wasn't labeled, so I needed to ask what it was, which is fine, I just felt like she was acting annoyed with me and that's unecessary. I have also experienced this in the drive thru, employees acting kind of annoyed that I'm there and not willing to help. It makes me sad because I used to love this place so much that I would drive all the way from Southwest Houston to go there. read more

They have very good coffee, lattes, and some interesting specialty drinks if you are in the mood for something different. Staff is always very friendly, quick and helpful. The only thing holding me back from a full 5 stars is that I think their dessert/snack menu is a little overpriced. $6 for two macaroons is pretty exorbitant. They do have some interesting flavors but they don't have price tags on anything so it's very inconvenient on the customer. Bottom line: apart from some pricing issues it is a quality coffee place that I will continue to go back to. read more

The best, and frankly only, independent coffee house in the Pasadena - Deer Park- La Porte area. You have to go to El Lago in Seabrook, with its weird hours to get anything other than Starbucks. Onto the coffee. The espresso has been rich every time I have been there, and the lattes, from what my friends have told me, are quite good. I had an almond milk latte that surprised me with its creaminess. They have a real espresso bar, unlike the swill that Starbucks passes off as espresso, and each of the baristas actually knows what they're doing.
