First time we ordered Swiss colony. Years ago we ordered from Figi's, which carried Swiss colony. Received our order and a piece was missing. Called and they started transferring around. Got to the fourth person and the finally hung up on me. First, they said I wasn't eligible but they changed their mind Fourth time I was on hold they hung up. I bought from them mainly out of nostalgia as we had stuff from them when we were young. Wont order again. Over priced. Shipping charges were high. I added a picture of their "beef log" that is made with corn syrup solids- yes that is the third ingredient! It is more like half of a bratwurst. I'd rather a package of bratwurst. Bargain hunting is in my blood. And this proves it. When I heard about the Swiss Colony's annual warehouse extravaganza sale, I was medium excited because I was going to be in Monroe that weekend.....but when I heard that the prices of everything was ridiculously cheap, I was super ultra excited. So this was a big event. Like advertised in the local newspaper big. People traveling across the boarder from Illinois big ;) (Monroe is only 8 miles north of the IL stateline). Standing outside in the misty April rains BIG. Yes, I stood out in the mist and waited for probably 20 minutes before getting into the warehouse. Once inside you were issued one cart or pallet thingy. It was up to you to brave the crowds and go about your bargain hunting business. A few of the items I purchased: Wine Racks (originally $45+....I got TWO for $1.50!) Wreaths (again, $45+.....$1 each) Martini glasses (set of 4..... $0.75 for the set) over 1# Babybel cheese (my big purchase of $2.70) Serving platter ($1) Condiment tray/dishes ($1) Random other things..... Grand total: $16.85 Let's keep in mind this is overstock of their catalog items. Beautiful, high quality, non-damaged housewares....not garage sale crap. Items you had to grab before getting ran over by 70 year old women. Oh and Rachel C's petit fours that she mentioned in her review....I won't even mention how much they were...ok I will. Bad customer service. I had problems online placing an order. The customer service person couldn't figure out what was wrong. She said she would take order over phone but She couldn't give me my discount that I was getting online. I told her I would go elsewhere and she said that was fine!!I have a 4.000.00 credit limit with them. I have been with them for years. My mother and uncle order from them. But not anymore. Field Trip.... of sorts! I make this journey with my mom on a quarterly basis. It's a blast. You can buy quality cheese, sausages, furniture, clothing, wigs, jewerly.... Ummm, isn't this the perfect Mom trip!?! The cheese is of very good quality. Look in the freezer for deals. On your way to the bathroom in the hallway are home sale pieces. It's a pretty good stop. You can spend about an hour here. Brennan"s is right across the street and they have a great discount cheeese bin. Also, if you make it to this area, there is a GREAT bar on the square. read more

I really don't order a ton of stuff from them but no real big issues.We either pay there credit card off in full or we just buy products..I've been getting products from then for over 20 years..I think one thing to do is order things well in advance of the holidays to prevent delays etc..Again no real issues with Swiss Colony.. I became a customer over 25 years ago, but I hadn't ordered in quite a few years; due mostly to the decline in quality...I ordered Petit Fours this year, and OMG how bad could bad be...They are CAKE, which is soft; and FILLING, which is also soft; they are then COMPLETELY covered in what I loosely term "chocolate", but is actually nasty wax in taste and texture both...Regardless of that fact, the coating should be enough to at least keep the other components in the condition they were meant to be in...How, in God's name, they managed to put STALE AND CRUNCHY cake into these God awful vomit bombs, I have not one idea; but they pulled it off...A FOOD company who starts with stale cake, then enrobes it in some "icing" that tastes like it could survive a nuclear blast is not my idea of something I choose to put into my body...DISGUSTING is a kind estimation... It really sucks that you all send an email like this explaining that there is an item on BACK ORDER...Perhaps in the future you might want to not have such a huge explanation about Colorado taxes and a paragraph about the back order itself. Especially since there is more attention drawn to the fact that the stupid macadamia nuts are going to ship to arrive as soon as possible and that is what I assumed was the status of the whole order as the back order information on the sausage itself blends into the description of what I ordered. I've been a customer to all of the Swiss Colony companies. For quite some time they were a top-notch outfit. However, over the past two or three years they have gone downhill and quickly. I ordered gifts early in the Christmas season, sending at different times to different addresses. Instead, all of the gifts went out at the same time. The ones that were supposed to come to me went out to others. The same thing happened for Valentine's Day. In addition, packaging and product quality have declined. Once upon a time, Swiss Colony responded to customer complaints. For these problems, Swiss Colony only shrugged and said "Too bad." Now, there is a payment issue. I ordered a bookshelf stereo which didn't work. I complained, ordered another. It didn't work. Both were returned using the UPS labels they sent. (This was through Ginny's) The next bill was delayed, I assumed while they applied the credits. Not so. They insist they never received the broken stereos. I gave them the receipt numbers. UPS confirmed receipt, yet still they hound me. For Swiss Colony I admit there was a problem one month, which has been cleared up -- or so I thought. I am receiving snide, nasty letters practically every other day. No amount of calling will stop it. Yet, at the same time, I still receive all of their catalogs, urging me to order more! Swiss Colony, which includes Ginny's, Seventh Avenue, Midnight Velvet, Country Door, Montgomery Ward, has decent products. The credit is easy to get and they increase it every Holiday Season. Unfortunately, customer service is a horror. They treat you like garbage. Keep the orders simple. Don't send orders to multiple addresses and arrival times in the same order. read more

Dishonorable. I placed an order to be delivered to my niece in Queens. Upon seeing the FedEx tracker I noticed it said the delivery will be going to Hastings (where I live). I emailed them twice, called them three times. They ASSURED me the order will be delivered to my niece in Queens. Guess what? Yup, at MY door. I called them, they told me they would ship out another order to the correct address, seems one of their workers screwed up. Guess what? Yup, they didn't make good on that either. So I'm left with cheese in my fridge I cannot eat (donate it?). And worse, I have nothing on short notice to give my niece for the holidays. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Received no notifications that an item that we ordered was out of stock... only found out it wasn't available after I tracked the order to see if it would arrive for Christmas. Called customer service numerous times only to talk to clueless people then get continuously disconnected. Tried emailing "customer service" but the email address provided BY SWISS COLONY doesn't work. Also tried emailing them on their own website... that didn't work either. Finally spoke to a supervisor who was also incompetent so clearly it starts from the top. The prices are already too high for chocolate, never mind the RIDICULOUS shipping fees, and now the cherry on top is their HORRIBLE customer service. Literally could've solved the problem by sending an email, offering a similar substitution, or just being nice and friendly but apparently that's not how Swiss Colony works. Their product is good and they ship quickly but don't use their credit. I've attempted to make payments to my account, on time, the past 3 months and it never takes, despite there being more than enough funds in my bank account. This always results in a late fee with Swiss Colony. When I attempt to call them to make it right, no one ever answers the phone. I imagine if there is a delay or error with my order, I wouldn't be able to contact anyone at that time either. I purchased 10 lbs of meats/cheese from Swiss Colony for my Family/Friends this Holiday Season, which came with a complementary tin of chocolates. The package was delivered to the wrong address, and sat outside in the hot Florida sun for 2 days before the homeowner discovered the package and delivered it to me. It was not Swiss Colony's fault (FedEx made the delivery error), and Swiss Colony offered to refund or replace the order. This was going to be a big part of my Holiday giving, but I don't feel comfortable asking Swiss Colony for anything. Swiss Colony should be able to hold FedEx accountable. Having said that, I will not order from Swiss Colony again. It's too risky, and I don't have that kind of money to risk, and have my Holiday ruined. read more

The food is good, I've always received the shipments on time and the bill for my Christmas order is delayed until February. The catalog shows what appear to be large beef sticks, blocks of cheese, etc. EVERYTHING is misrepresented, which is deduced when the package arrives, and one finds nothing is bigger than an ounce or two. Little thumb-sized meat sticks. The petits-fours are waxy on the outside and mushy/crumbly on the inside, absolute garbage. The cookies are tiny and you can do better at the dollar store for way less money. Cheeses smell strange and two were moldy. How this company stays in business is an absolute mystery to me. Let it be known that I have no problem with the products but today I received a bill for an an order I supposedly placed on 9-17- 19. The problem is I haven't placed an order this year. They then informed me that they had a problem with credit card orders last year and that I still owed them money. Had they contacted me a month or two after I placed the order I would have no problem with it, but a year later is unacceptable. Really NO stars. Do not waste your $ or your time. I ordered & never received so I had my credit card cancel payment. They took it upon themselves then to put me on their monthly payment plan. I called explained I never received but they kept sending bill. By second month I wrote on the bill I never received my order, cancelled my credit card payment & did not sign up for monthly payments. Thought all was good. Not good, ordered this year & when I went to account to see when items were being shipped it stated I owed them for past shipment & I was over 500 days late. In the meantime my shipment arrived but was missing a whole box of Petit Fours. I have called & emailed numerous times only to b transferred from one person to the next & hung up on continuously. Never received first shipment & still trying to charge me & second shipment only partially filled. One big headache & certainly not worth it. I was a longtime customer who grew up with this company. I received a sales and use tax notice from The Swiss Colony for taxes they didn't collect on a gift I ordered for clients in PA. When I called Swiss colony customer service to ask them what this was about, nobody at their customer service could give me a straight answer. I was told to contact my accountant about this! I don't live in PA so I had No idea what this was about. Today, I got a sale pitched phone call from them asking me if I'm "Ready to place my Christmas order" Really?? Its early October. I again asked the Rep about this since I had them on the phone, again I did not get a strait answer. For being the largest mail order company in the US, they can't bother to take care of this tax themselves, Ridiculous! I guess with all the bad reviews, their business is hard up. Yes, I was put on hold for around 15 minutes to be routed to their customer service department. However, once I did get a hold of an agent, she was very nice and arranged to have another apple pie delivered to us. The original pie order was sent to us by my wife's cousin, so we didn't know it was coming and it was left out by the front door for several days and spoiled. Moral of the story is that if you are shipping a perishable item to someone, let them know it is coming. read more

I have been a long time customer of Swiss Colony. The Petite Fours were a staple in our house every Christmas. This year, we received our order of Baby Swiss, the large box of Petite Fours and a free tin of chocolate covered macadamian nuts. The only thing that was edible was the Baby Swiss. The free tin of chocolate covered nuts all had a whiteish film on the chocolate and were definitely either stale or frozen and then defrosted - I couldn't even put the out for anyone. The most disappointing was the Petite Fours - the box appeared to be crushed on one side (however the packing looked fine as it was layered). When I opened it about 8 of the Petite Fours were crushed and we couldn't even lift them out without totally falling apart and at least half the box was stale - meaning biting into them and they were crunchy inside not creamy like the ones in the box that weren't stale. I contacted customer service and even sent photos and never received a reply. I will never order from them again as it is obvious that their quality control is no longer being utilized. To send a customer two items that were stale makes me a non-customer again especially when Customer Service doesn't even answer you. I would not recommend them to anyone. PS we dumped the cheese too felt that if the other two weren't quality items we weren't taking any chances. read more

Why would swiss colony eliminate a 2 lb Butter Stollen and require you to buy a one lb which is 2 servings for three people? Profit! You have to buy two for $27+ each to get a decent amount. I received a Swiss Colony Gift Box. I ate about 6 pieces of the cakes and cookies. FOOD POISONING!!! I am 65 years old and live alone. I was so sick and the pain so great I passed out on the toilet. I woke up on the floor stuck between the stool and the GLASS shower door. Lucky thing I only twisted my knee, bruised my thigh and rib cage as well as put a knot on my neck. Thank GOD I did not break that glass shower door and bleed out while passed out. 5 days later, the food poisoning is gone but my body is still paying the price. My doctor wanted to know who sent the box. Lucky thing I never doubted the friendship of the sender. My friend, when calling Swiss Colony to talk to them about it was "placed on hold for over and hour so finally I gave up". No....do not send this stuff to your friends. read more

Ordered an Easter basket on 04/03 because the website guaranteed delivery before Easter. It will be here two days AFTER EASTER! Didn't find out until the day before Easter that it was going to be late. I had to go out at the last minute and spend 50 more dollars (on top of the $40 spent at Swiss Colony) to get my child a basket . They offered to refund shipping. What a joke. You have to stay on top of your order. I received a catalog stating I could order up to $400 and not pay until February. I ordered $197 for family and friends to be delivered for Christmas. I kept checking on my order and it kept saying not shipped. I finally called on 12-23 and was informed my order was not approved for the credit and had to pay via mail a cashier's check or money order. This would have been no problem but because it was the 23rd I could no longer have it delivered by Christmas. So consequently NO ONE was getting our gifts. I ordered on 12-9 in plenty of time, however, Swiss Colony did not notify me of the payment issue so I could have paid by credit card and had everything taken care of. I am very very unhappy I ordered the best ham they had for my daughter who lives far away plus the breakfast meats. Couldn't get the whole breakfast no matter what hat. It was to be delivered dec. 24th for Christmas! It did not arrive. My family bought all the fixuns for it for breakfast and dinner. They didn't have a lot of money and I wanted it special for them. I checked the website and Low and behold the date of delivery was changed to Jan . 24th 2020. I know what date I added in there so I called even said maybe I some how made a mistake but could they deliver it for New Year's Eve. They said yes and it would arrive on December 30. Guess what it's now the 31st so I went on line and it was shipped January 31st to arrive January 2nd I was guaranteed it would be there the 30th. I am so p. Off I can't hardly see strait. We ordered 8 gift boxes for company clients for the holidays. It was a disaster from the get go and the company's customer service was awful. They screwed up every address, changed the spelling of company names (inexplicably) after the order was submitted, got all the tracking numbers wrong, and then were 'unable' to fix the mailing labels even though they hadn't shipped yet. I spent over 9 hours of my work time over 2 weeks talking to their customer reps trying to fix the issue, and it was a mess the whole. Their solution was to send 2nd packages to some of our clients, but even those still had typos and errors on the addresses. They made us look foolish to our company clients. I recently had a run in with this company, I have been a customer for years, quiet recently I sent gifts to my daughter and her husband, for some reason they did not bill me but billed my daughter, when I called the credit dept. all I got was a run around, they won't answer as to what the bill is for, what items etc. also they will not answer as to how they gave her an account number when she did not make the order herself, and when I ask questions they refuse to answer me. They then told me to write a letter and then they would handle the problem, so I had to send a letter so that they would bill me and then after I pay it I am going to cancel my account with them, they really don't care about customer service. This whole mess sounds fishy to me. So all you people who want to order....BE WARE. I am wondering how many other people they are screwing. read more

I ordered from them twice this month and first order was fine, processed and shipped on time. The 2nd order placed on December 7th never moved or processed after I placed it. I kept checking daily and it said in progress so I assumed it was shipping. WRONG. I called Dec 16th only to be lied to by their customer service department telling me my credit card declined. Complete lie. Another employee later admitted it was a lie. My order never shipped, now the main item I wanted is out of stock until NEXT CHRISTMAS. No call, no email no notification what so ever. Then after I call and complain their rude customer service reps are nasty and offer no help. They then email me stating half my order was shipping. No thank you. You will be refunding me all of my money. Their products are not cheap, their shipping costs are high and their employees are rude. After about seven phone calls I finally got a credit for half of my original order. I should not have to work this hard to spend my hard earned money for any business. read more
