Casual, friendly restaurant in downtown Monroe. The burger, chili, and cheese curds were all delicious. Our server was nice and very attentive. This place is definitely worth a visit.

One of many hilarious bar signs.

Great atmosphere. Amazing prices. Wonderful service - thanks Christian C. Love the money on the ceiling from customers that goes to charity annually. We had old fashions, chili, salami & cheddar on dark rye, and a piece of chocolate pie for dessert. Big slabs of salami & cheese and the freshest bread. Place was packed. No wonder. It's a fantastic place. Highly recommended.

I had an afternoon cocktail here and an evening meal and cocktails (all in the same day) while visiting Monroe a few weeks ago. I didn't really look in the deli case up front, but I ordered a sandwich and from the rye to the spicy mustard it was really good. My sandwich also came with a side of cheese, which cracked me up as well as made me so happy...I do love cheese. While in Wisconsin, right??? The bartenders were great. One even checked on me after a guy sat down and tapped my ear off for half an hour. I was fine, but being alone I really appreciated that he noticed. Cute tavern in a cute town. I would definitely go back!

Charming place. Good food and service. Sit outside during the nice weather to enjoy the music from the historic building across the street on the square and the Swiss style architecture of Baumgartner's building. Everyone gets a dive of fresh cheese with your meal!

Review # 800 This restaurant was the highlight of our Wisconsin road trip. I loved the place. It has such nostalgia to it. Every wall, every piece of art/decoration inside the restaurant has historical significance. Service by lively employees was phenomenal. They explained the menu and options patiently. We ordered, interacted with friendly patrons, and within no time our food was ready. We took the food outside, sat at the town square and enjoyed the peace and calm of a chill place! We ordered the following: Ian had a hot dog. Mrs. had a roast beef. I had a Pastrami sandwich. 2 amazing desserts to share. Total was $31.65. Food was freshly prepared. You could tell because, it melted in our mouths! Desserts were amazing. Cheese as a topping was unique. I loved it. If you are within 50 miles of Monroe, you should definitely head out here to this amazing restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

Came in my 6,000 mile food tour to I try the infamous limburger and braunschweiger sandwich which was served on rye with onion and sides of mustard. By the second half it was a bit rough, but not their fault lol. It's one of the stinkiest cheeses made allegedly. Neat little spot kind of dive bar meets diner vibes in the back room where I sat. Glad I tried it!

They helped me over the 2026 Easter Holidays! Thank you…read more Everything I ordered was delivered on time ,I loved the assortment of there products .

The Wisconsin Cheeseman is a good place to find edible gifts, and other things by mail. They have…read moretheir own in-house credit, with a usual starting limit of $400. All the gifts are under that, and many under $100 so it is easy to buy many gifts for the money. BE WARNED, however, the pictures make the gifts look three times bigger than they really are. Look at the net weight of each item carefully. The average price is about $18 a pound up to $25 a pound. Take for instance the one-pound sausage gift--it looks huge, about 18" across when in fact it is half of that, barely the distance between your thumb and little finger spread out (in ancient times, what they called a "span"). And the sausages themselves look huge, but they are barely 4" long! And the rule of thumb for every gift site is to get rid of older product first, so if you order here, it's a roll of the dice. You can call customer service and place an order that way and specify to please send FRESH product or they will get a bad review here. There is just no telling how fresh your gift will be and NONE of them look like the pictures. This holds true for every gift site, include this one's sister site, The Swiss Colony. They are not nearly as big as the pictures make them out to be so---don't be too disappointed now that you have the lowdown.
