I live far away and placed an order about a month ago for relatives in the Wisconsin area. Shipping was expensive, as others have mentioned, and the package was delivered 4 days before it was scheduled to arrive. The Wisconsin Cheeseman is a good place to find edible gifts, and other things by mail. They have their own in-house credit, with a usual starting limit of $400. All the gifts are under that, and many under $100 so it is easy to buy many gifts for the money. BE WARNED, however, the pictures make the gifts look three times bigger than they really are. Look at the net weight of each item carefully. The average price is about $18 a pound up to $25 a pound. Take for instance the one-pound sausage gift--it looks huge, about 18" across when in fact it is half of that, barely the distance between your thumb and little finger spread out (in ancient times, what they called a "span"). And the sausages themselves look huge, but they are barely 4" long! And the rule of thumb for every gift site is to get rid of older product first, so if you order here, it's a roll of the dice. You can call customer service and place an order that way and specify to please send FRESH product or they will get a bad review here. There is just no telling how fresh your gift will be and NONE of them look like the pictures. This holds true for every gift site, include this one's sister site, The Swiss Colony. They are not nearly as big as the pictures make them out to be so---don't be too disappointed now that you have the lowdown. read more

At the beginning of December I was thrilled to find a place I could order Limberger cheese as a special gift for my 84 year old mother. I always try to come up with something thoughtful and wanted her to have a taste from her youth. After ordering, I never got any notification that the order was canceled for some unknown reason until I tried to track my order today (78324593). Customer service was terrible and now I have to scramble to find another special gift. Do not order from them! They do not care about the little guy and put a negative spin on my holiday experience. read more

Order placed and confirmed for Christmas arrival. Did not arrive, and we found out that it had been canceled, reportedly due to credit card charge being declined. Same credit card used many times for thousands of dollars in purchases both before and after, so any declination had to have been an error. Mistakes happen, but the worst part was that we were NOT NOTIFIED of the cancelation, so we had no opportunity to fix the problem and the gift didn't happen. Very poor business practices. Apparently my credit card didn't go through and they canceled the order but no one reached out to let me know! I called on 12/17 to see what the problem was and they said the order had been canceled and I should get a letter telling me that in 7-10 days. WTF? Went to check the status of the order and it was canceled. Apparently canceling orders is a standard practice of this company. Avoid if you care about the ingredients you put into your body. My husband placed a large order including 2 Kringles which, according to the catalog, are "made in the Danish tradition". According to the package label, they contain margarine (3rd ingredient), soybean oil, several preservatives, artificial color, artificial flavor, modified food starch and other mystery ingredients. No butter. A mini loaf of Lemon Bread contains propylene glycol monoesters, preservative, soybean oil, artificial flavor, other mystery ingredients, and artificial color including yellow #5 Lake!! My husband saved the chocolate Santa coins and small bottle of pure Grade A maple syrup included in a gift basket; otherwise he is very disappointed and said "Not worth it." read more

I purchased a gift for family and received a confirmation email. When it didn't arrive as expected, I went to the email to view my order. The website said my order was cancelled! First they told me my credit request was not approved but I paid with a credit card. Then they told me my credit card was not approved! They never notified me of the cancellation and should have know immediately that the payment didn't go through. Not using them again. read more

BUYER BEWARE! This company has terrible customer service. I ordered holiday gifts for 9 people, and the orders were cancelled with no notification or explanation. I had received the order confirmation, and when they didn't arrive around the anticipated delivery date, I logged into my account, and that is how I learned all the orders had been cancelled. I called customer service 2x, was on hold for 45 minutes, and also talked to the credit department, and no one was able to explain what has caused my order to be cancelled, why I was not notified, nor did they try to make it right. I should have done a bit more research, but turns out Wisconsin Cheeseman has terrible reviews online. Do yourself a favor and go with another company. read more

In a world where most people no longer eat fruit cake or fruit cake cookies, my mother made the absolute best I've ever had in my life. I preface with this because I ordered the Wisconsin cheese man fruitcake cookies. Never in my life have I eaten such garbage. The cookies tasted like pure sugar and oil. I wouldn't usually take the time to write up an experience with any company, but the amount of inaction and unwillingness to do anything to right an order that was a Christmas gift speaks volumes to the character of the people running "the Cheeseman", I won't bore you with my details. Just know that they screwed up my Christmas gift from start to finish and then told me I hadn't contacted them in time so there was nothing they could do.My friend, in turn, never received his gift because they sent it to me instead of him and I refused to pay twice to fix their mistake of where they sent it. So no stars for the Cheeseman. The wild game sausage came with three flavors and they all tasted the same because they used pork and beef filler also. This company is a joke, I know that there must be better,more deserving companies that can use your money. DON'T SUPPORT THESE PEOPLE. This is a bad business. read more

Very disappointed. Placed an order for Christmas on December 10th. Checked on order status Dec 21 to make sure it has arrived. There was a note saying order cancelled. Never got an email or call with any indication this order was cancelled. Very disappointed considering this was a gift and did not have time to order something else to arrive in time without paying a crazy shipping price. Good tasting chocolates, but extremely small amounts of everything in the packaging, no crackers even included with cheese and sausage, they misrepresent something about "credit" or discounts to seniors to lure them in, and all the food is marked with "Distributed by: The Swiss Colony, LLC Monroe, WI", not "Made in the USA" or "Made in WI", which means most of it is probably made somewhere they don't want to disclose on the packaging. They are not BBB accredited, and the BBB listing for them has a ton of complaints about customers' credit histories being abused. If you have a loved one who has done business with Colony Brands, make sure they get a free credit report from one of the credit bureaus in the subsequent months. You get one free from each of the three bureaus every calendar year. read more

Great promise on their website with limited delivery... Impossible customer service to reach and no real resolution. I will never order from them again... Many many many instances of error that are unresolved with no offer of service recovery. If zero were an option, I would've chosen it. The person with whom I spoke said "I'll pass that"... I have ordered from Wisconsin Cheeseman on numerous occasions and have always been pleased with their products and service. I have primarily ordered cheese spreads. The recipients have loved the product. My only complaint is the cost they charge for shipping. For the price of their product, shipping should be less or free once you spend a certain dollar amount. The cost of shipping has stopped me from ordering more often. read more

We ordered a Christmas present which was to be delivered December 15. Using Fedex tracking we went to in circles. Calling Fedex they said the item was never sent. It was ordered 12-05 and I cannot get satisfaction nor even a person...Just "we are too busy please all back later." Have been calling for 2 days same results No options. Now I am told via their message system there is no way the person we sent this too will get this order before Christmas. And no way Wisonsin Cheese can answer the phone. read more

I called Wisconsin Cheeseman to see why a payment ($25.00), has not been credited to my account (it was due on March 15, 2022), even though the required payment was sent through "online bill pay" service, through my bank (Keesler Federal Credit Union), and was received by March 11, 2022. When I was hung up on when I tried to speak with a Representative from Wisconsin Cheeseman, very rude and indifferent and didn't seem to care that I sent a payment and i have never been late paying my bill. I was unable to speak with anyone about the payment not credited to my account. I offered to send proof of payment by my bank, but I was hung up on so I couldn't send proof that payment had been sent several days before the due date. i have included with this correspondence a "Attachment" that shows payment was sent as proof of payment. I have recently purchased several hundred dollars worth of orders from Wisconsin Cheeseman. Multiple issues have been discovered, such as wrong addresses, people receiving more than one gift, and no messages on the containers, telling the recipient who sent the Christmas gift. The ones that did have a message were very small and hard to find but several had no message whatsoever. I contacted customer support and talked to a supervisor who said there's nothing they can do about delivery to the wrong people and that everything should've had a message on it so there's nothing they can do. I am now faced with calling all of the people I have sent gifts to for Christmas to see if they have received them. this is supposed to be worry free Christmas shopping but it has just added another layer of confusion and work on my schedule. The supervisor had an attitude and this will be the last time I have ordered from Wisconsin Cheeseman after being a loyal customer for the last two years . The orders I have placed this year we're not small orders, but I got the feeling that the supervisor didn't care if there were problems. I am very dissatisfied with the whole process.
