This was a refreshing and fun pitstop during our visit to the New Glarus village. We popped in and explored their holiday decor, specialty food, items, candles, soaps, and other landscaping decor. I loved how much the shop leans into holidays and it was already decked out with Valentine's items in early January. The entire store smelled lovely from their lotion, samples and candles on display, and the staff was very friendly. I recommend giving them a visit if yourself strolling between the shops and restaurants of downtown New Glarus. read more

Named after the German word for flower shop, this is that and a whole lot more in an area known as Little Switzerland! With a built-in florist and an extensive collection of plants and lawncare products, this sprawling yet quaint store offers all the gardening supplies you'll ever need. Yard decor includes very hard-to-find items and everything right up to high-end fountains. But the additional cookware, kitchen gadgets, snacks, magnets, Christmas ornaments, spices, jams, and so much more put this country store on a completely different level altogether! I make my husband stop at Brenda's each and every time we go to New Glarus. He sits outside amongst the greenery while I shop. The front of the store mostly houses clothing and home decor items, while the back houses gardening items, including live plants, decorative and unique pots, bird feeders, and fountains. The back of the store is where I gravitate to, as I've found things back there that I haven't had an easy time finding in Milwaukee! My favorites so far have been pots shaped like heads, and handheld hummingbird feeders. In fact, of the multiple times I've visited, I think I've only left once, having not purchased anything! Prices are in line with other shops, and for the hard to find items, I'm willing to pay a little more for the instant gratification factor. Bought two Roma tomato plants this year from Blumenladen. It is now end of July. Yes, we've harvested a couple handfuls of berries but the plants already appear to be done. (tomato plants will thrive until first front by the way). These two plants only grew up to about three feet and the berries are very small for Romas. Yes, one might say we have poor soil. But, I know we do not. Last year I put home made (stinky BTW) compost in that spot and the two cherry tomato plants in that spot grew to crazy heights and were still flowering in November. read more

Pretty disappointed! We live in New Glarus and have gotten plants and merchandise and gifts here many times! A little overpriced but a good selection for the area. My partner was sent by me to get a specific plant, and was pointed to the wrong one. He took the plant back the next day, and was immediately interrogated and talked to in a very condescending way. It was just a mistake (by one of their employees!) so we brought it back in under 24 hours. They did accept it back, but it was a surprisingly uncomfortable experience. Disappointing! read more

I ordered flowers online on Saturday night. I saw they were open on Sunday, so I checked Sunday for delivery day. After I placed my order, I read a little farther down and saw that they do not deliver on Sunday and I assumed they would be delivered on Monday. Long story short, they called someone in and my sweeties flowers were delivered today, Sunday. For that, I won't even consider anyone else. read more

We spent Valentine's weekend in New Glarus with some of our close friends. While our hubbies went to a pub and enjoyed a flight of beers, my friend and I went shopping. We spent a good bit of time at Brenda's Blumenladen. It was so much fun and the sales people were helpful and were happy to let us browse as long as we wanted! This is such a wonderful place to get plants and flowers. I had the difficult task of having to buy a plant for a secret santa gift back in December for under $7. I didn't think I would find anything nice for that cheap. I decided to look for something while I was in New Glarus and came across this cute store. I found a beautiful flowering cactus for $6! Having been back in New Glarus this past weekend, I saw the huge assortment of flowers and plants they had outside. You can see them from a distance. My friend was really happy with her plant and I think it was better than anything I could have gotten at a Home Depot. If you want a special gift or plant, I highly recommend the Blumenladen. read more

Brenda's is a great small town greenhouse, gift shop, and florist. They are a wonderful place to find plants, flowers, and other garden items. I like that they carry certain items that can be hard to find in a big box store, or take the time to help you order them. Great selection for the area. read more
