Very neat store. Nice antiques and horror themed games, shirts, etc. The bathroom is scary though. My kid and I did not want to use it.

We almost walked right by this place on a recent Friday afternoon when touring about New Glarus. We are glad that we made the detour into this super fun, quirky, kitschy, irreverent shop that reflects the personality of the owner. We ended up buying all sorts of things we did not need since it was such a hoot exploring and shopping here. After shopping at other places in town we stopped back in to enjoy a beer in their small tap room and lounge in the back of the store. This also gave us more time to chat with the owner. This is now a must visit when we are back in NG.

I appreciate small businesses that put their heart and soul into their enterprise. John at the Rusty Raven is one of them. We had a great visit speaking with John about, well, everything. His store is a personally curated assortment of merchandise that will undoubtedly put a smile on your face at some point. With a tasting beer bar in the back, eclectic, whimsical items throughout, your sure to find a gift for that rascal in your life. Stop in, look around, and have a beer. We did and would highly recommend you do the same.

Rubin's carries a decent selection of nice looking contemporary furniture. Much of it is veneer…read moreover MDF and priced appropriately. The salesman I encountered wouldn't leave me alone. I clearly stated more than once that I was "just browsing" and "doing fine", but everywhere I turned this guy was trying to sell me something. When I actually did purchase a table - not one that he was trying to push on me, and not with the chair upsell - the checkout and pickup process was fine. I asked for some follow-up information via phone on a different product and received it quickly. I'd be willing to try Rubin's again, but perhaps at the downtown Madison store next time.

I had first entertained the idea of purchasing said chair a few months ago and went in to see their selection. Prior to going in, I had found a 10% off coupon in the Reader, so the incentive to purchase from Rubin's rose proportionately. They had a vast selection of modern contemporary furniture on 2 levels. I had a hard time deciding exactly what to select, but after perusing the inventory, I made up my mind. The salespeople were very friendly and helpful, and not at all pushy. The particular chaise I ordered wasn't in stock and had to be ordered from their warehouse in Madison, WI and would take approximately 8 weeks. I was disappointed to have to wait so long, but good things come to those who wait. I got my chair about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It's comfortable as well as stylish. Can a piece of furniture be sexy? Absolutely. And I just ordered a second chair.

The brewery is under construction until next year so it's a little bit restricted in what there is compared to when I was last here in 2019, however, it's still worth a visit. They do have a large gift shop/beer depot. I always buy a lot of beer to mule back to KC. On this visit they had a limited beer release so it was busy. The individuals working in the depot were a bit rude to be honest. I don't know if they were just over it because there were a lot of people, but they weren't friendly nor very helpful. If it had been my first visit, it definitely would've been a turn off. The individuals working in the gift shop were nice. I bought a few Christmas gifts from there. After I bought all the merch I wanted, I headed across the street where they had a makeshift tasting room. They had lots of tables to sit at outside. In the tasting room you have the open of a pint or 3 tasters. You get to keep the glass either way you go which is pretty cool. I went with the taster option. They give you a glass and a bracelet that has 3 taster tabs that they remove as you get each one. The individuals working that station were nice and friendly. I love their sours and had to get pours of the strawberry rhubarb which is one of my favorites. They also have a self guided tour. It's on the smallish side but still cool to see even with all the construction. The bathroom situation was a bit iffy. Definitely try to use the gift shop bathrooms because otherwise it's porta-potties or there are restrooms in the tour area. Those are pretty run down and the stalls don't lock. My apologies to the poor lady I walked in on mid piss with her pants around her ankles. Overall, it's definitely worth checking out especially if you've never been. I can't wait until they finish construction and I'm able to return to see what it looks like.

I've had a New Glarus Brewing visit on my list for a while now and was so excited to finally go!…read moreThe brewery itself was a lot smaller than I expected. It definitely makes you appreciate their level of distribution more but also makes a visit shorter in length. In one building, they had a tasting room. Inside, you could pay $8 for a pint of one beer or sample of three beers. Depending on the size you chose, you got to keep your cup. They also gave us a token for a free beer anywhere in town. There were picnic tables in the parking lot to enjoy drinks at casually. In the adjacent building, one could do a self guided tour of brewing equipment, canning equipment, and watch a background video from the owners. Across the street, they have a gift shop as well as their beer depot. They had merchandise available from glassware, apparel, pet items, coasters/stickers, and more. They had a lot of sizes available in store. The beer depot is a room where you can grab your drinks in 6 or 24 pack sizes. They have some beers specific to the brewery only but also had your wisconsin classics found in stores. Overall, I'm so happy I finally got to experience New Glarus Brewing. If traveling from a far, I would pair a visit here with other local plans. Elite Tip: They are currently building an expansion of Hilltop Brewing.
