review from 2012 the ONLY place to buy macaroons...cute store, friendly staff great taste...always fresh and can last up to 3 days in the frig they make me happy ______________________________________________ review update 2 years later and 6 visits total ---rating went from a woohoo to a a-ok [july 5, 2014] took a friend who has never been---i raved about the macarons...only to be truly disappointed. we got the following flavors: coconut, red-velvet, lemon-bluberry, lavender---each one tasted good---but, not like they used to taste. what happened, sweet? they were crunchy---like the way they get after 3 days....that's not right. thankfully, the chocolate w/vanilla frosting cupcake she had was delish---decadent and fresh and for the first time i tried cake ball truffles....vanilla bean and german chocolate---fabulous unfortunately, this will not be my go to for macarons anymore...."petite sweets" is now the one to compare others to and as far as, citycentre goes....ooh la la will be the bakery i visit ...buh bye read more

Five stars for Sweet! This place is open later than some of the other establishments in city centre so it is always a great way to end the night; although there may not be as many choices of what cupcake flavors are left by the end of the night; and the cupcakes obviously won't be very fresh. But the macaroons are great no matter what time of the day you eat them! My favorite is the passion fruit flavored macaroon; it's almost too pretty to eat...almost. I also appreciate the space available to stand/sit; I have never had to wait in a ridiculously long line to get my order taken, nor have I ever felt claustrophobic as I often do in other cupcake stores. This place is ok... They have some items that taste great. Then some taste horrible. Then there's the mediocre. Macarons here are overall ok. For the price it's a good deal. Have lots of variety for flavors but not all are worth trying. I like the texture they have though. Doesn't fall apart when bite into it. Some are too sweet though. However, they have specials a lot on them. Coffee is nothing to mention. But their tea is good. It's organic and even the sweetened ones aren't too sweet to where you almost have a heart attack. read more

Bought macarons from Sweet and they are delicious. They sell many cupcakes but I'm not a big fan of cupcakes so I didn't get any. The macarons are crispy and the fillings could be tastier. Worth the try! read more

I ordered a 9" cake for my daughters 18th birthday from Sweet because I wanted it to taste awesome. I chose something different then our usual. unfortunately, I was very disappointed by the taste of the cake it was very dry so much so that it crumbled every time I cut a slice. The cake was beautiful and was decorated as I asked. Although, I was shocked at the $30 to add strawberries and raspberries around the top of cake and an extra $10 for a frosting drizzle. Anyway after paying $136.00 for a 9 inch beautiful cake it was not worth the price. read more

Sweet tasty cupcakes and the macaroons are bomb! The creme brûlée macaroon is addictive!! So yummy! My only gripe - I purchased a dozen assorted cupcakes. The cupcakes had that slightly crusty outer layer from sitting out (versus moist and soft from preservation). Additionally, all the cupcakes seemed to taste the same with no true differentiating flavor despite one cupcake being strawberry, one funfetti, one champagne etc. However, overall nice sweet cupcakes. I love the simplicity of this place -- everything is clean lines, striped paper straws, bunting, perfect. The packaging and branding are superb. It's like Anthropologie (aesthetics) and Sprinkles (tasty cupcakes) had a baby. So other than it being down-right ridiculously cute, I really enjoyed my desserts and can't wait to go back. I tried the Nutella cupcake, which was certainly tasty, but the real show-stealer was the dark chocolate cake truffle. I couldn't justify having a cupcake AND a truffle on the same day, so I took the little morsel home.. it was still fresh the next day, and even more delicious than my cupcake. First time here last month when I went to visit family in Houston. I love the location which is within the Town & Country shopping area. Beautiful and lively. I tried the cookies & cream macaron ice cream sandwich & it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The size of the sandwich was literally as big as my palm! The cookie part was too hard (hence being in the freezer due to the ice cream), but I was hoping it to be softer. The pictures of the macaron ice cream sandwich on SWEET's Instagram page look more delicious than when I got mine..looks were definitely deceiving. It was still good, but for the price which was around $7-8? ..ridiculous. When I'm back in Houston, I plan to make another trip to SWEET to try their cupcakes/macarons :) Maybe my rating for this place will be a little higher the next time around! read more

I just love Sweet. Its where I first tried a macaron, and where I was initially piqued to try making them at home. Their employees are usually really sweet, patient when going over the flavor options, and even dispense baking suggestions for home-cooks. However, since trying macs at different stores, I must admit - these aren't the best. Good? Definitely. Creative and always-rotating flavors? Absolutely. But they're usually a little too crisp, too dry, or too stale. The perfect macaron should crumble into shards when bitten - many flavors of these do. Oh well, I'll still keep coming back. Something about the sheer cuteness of the store's interior, decorating and staff have me just addicted. Thanks Sweet! read more

I come here every now and then for their drinks, but it's a been a few months since I went last. Stopped by to purchase a gift card and notice a lot has changed! This place is still so cute as usual, but they now have a whole separate section for macarons! It looks gorgeous of course.. And they now have new cute boxes for the macarons which btw is like a replica of Ladurée. I dont know how I feel about that... Seeing pretty pastries makes me happy. read more

Sweet treats are not something I get often. Therefore, when I get them, I expect them to be not good but great! I ordered a strawberry cupcake, a bag of oatmeal raisin cookies (which were to die for), and a flavored iced tea that I can't remember the name of but it had ruby red and pomegranate, I think. All three items were just over $12 which I thought was a pretty good deal. There isn't a large variety of cupcakes to choose from but what's there is yummy. read more

YUM! The only reason why this is 4 stars is because of the mini key lime cupcake. I think this cupcake is so good! The icing is marshmallow instead of whipped cream and the filling is ALL key lime. I don't know how I would feel about eating the regular sized key lime cupcake because it's quite rich, but I love the mini one, it's like a fun sized cupcake (you know, like the halloween fun size candy?)! Besides the key lime cupcake, I also tried the chocolate one that looked liked one of those hostess snacks but it was so dry, a carrot cake one i think which was pretty good except the icing totally made me choke because it was so tart. I still have the red velvet one in the fridge so I haven't eaten that one yet, but it is really cute.They garnished it with a tiny red heart. I love little things like that. The total for 4 mini cupcakes came out to be ~$8, so ~$2 per cupcake. I say it's worth it for the key lime one, but my boyfriend says that $2 is way too much for something that he eats in one bite. lol. I've never had macarons before and everyone seems to talk about how good they are, so I tried the coffee one and it wasn't what I expected macarons to be. It tasted super bland and too dry and crumbly. They're also really small for the price! I'd rather buy a cupcake instead, honestly. Specifically, the key lime one. It's so good I can't stop talking about it! lol. The actual store is cute and small and the employees are friendly. I will definitely be back! read more

DO NOT purchase from here. This is the most UNPROFESSIONAL and rudest company I have ever purchased from! I pre-ordered a cake a month ago. My cake was made incorrectly and had to be rebaked 4 hours prior to the event. I was then told that for my inconvenience, they would deliver. The delivery was TWO HOURS late and was delivered as an unfinished product. I got in touch with the owner to discuss the inconsistencies and was told I would get a refund and emailed the conversation in writing. Never received the email so, I called back for confirmation and she hung up in my face and BLOCKED the number I called from. I called back the next day and was told "the refund has been processed, find something better to do!" and hung up in my face for the SECOND time. I will never buy anything from this bakery again & hope you don't either. read more

The employees are hardworking and very helpful but the manager Faith is extremely rude. She needs a few lessons on customer service. I love the cupcakes here but I will not go back strictly because of her attitude. She was very rude to my fiancé and I, who were consumers of the establishment. To be honest, really hard to find a spot you would not like at the City Centre but this little bakery it's worth mentioning. Love the design of the shop at that little corner, really nice ambience and the food was right at the point my capuccino was delicious and my significant one said their macarons were the best she had ever tried. Best thing for me, the cronuts, please please, do not leave without trying one of those delicious donuts made out of croissants dough. 100% recommended. read more

Happy to find this locally to me.. Deliciously made coffee, cakes, sweets and breakfast Crossiont's ... only reason for 4 stars is that their almond milk is quite on the sweet side, I'd prefer an unsweetened barista blend, which would make it out of this world!! Sweet is a very good pastry spot in city centre but oddly enough the last two times we have come there's s patron that brings his dog, now there is nothing wrong with bringing a dog but he seems to leave his dog around and go do his own thing. The first time I came the guy left his dog in the front and people came up to sit outside but ended up turning away and I don't know why but maybe they had a dog allergy or what but the guy didn't mind. Right now I'm sitting outside and the guy is sitting out here and the dog is inside this food establishment now if you have a animal allergy this is not cool nor would the health inspector allow this. I was disappointed. I purchased 6 flavors, rose, lavender, cookies and cream, creme brulee, fruity pebbles, and salted carmel. Macron's are my favorite and for what paid for it expected tons of flavor. Only the creme brulee had slight flavor everything else was bland. Unfortunately I won't return. read more

I went here for the annual macaron day and experienced multiple issues which will be laid out into three separate parts in this essay. These 3 issues revolve around the pre-order, the no-refund rule, and the absolute deception of the manager/owner. The day before SWEET's macaron day, there was a preorder form that allowed people to pick their flavors and pickup time. It required you to select the 15% tip, which was I assume to have your order prepackaged. I set to pick up my order at 5:15 PM. I then arrived at 5:10 to pick up my order, and found a huge pre-order crowd waiting in front of the store, as well as a line for current orders. As I waited with the rest of the pre-orders, I saw many current orders able to go inside and pick their Macarons and leave, presumably without having to pay tip. I ended up waiting for a total of 1.5 hours for my order, just like many other pre-order customers. Essentially, I tipped to wait a hour for Macarons that others were able to get instantly without pre-ordering. As for the no refund rule, about an hour and 15 minutes into my waiting, an employee went outside to announce that they were out of two flavors: green tea and espresso. Many people were confused, and one woman asked to get a refund on the Macarons she would not receive. The manager/owner then walked out to tell her she couldn't get a refund, even without getting her order yet. And instead had her choose different flavors. I overheard this conversation and was bothered because I too ordered some of those flavors and was wanting to get a refund. Then, as I was about to ask about my order, they brought it out and it was given to me quickly. I was confused, as they just announced they were out of flavors, so I opened my box to check. I saw green ones and brown ones that looked like the flavors that I ordered, and they were all there, so I assumed that they packed my order before they ran out. I then left and went home. Now comes the deception of the manager. After getting home, I saw that the flavors I ordered were not the correct ones, they just looked like them initially. Instead of green tea, I got pistachio and instead of espresso, I got salted caramel. Both were substituted specifically with colors that were ambiguous and could have been the ones I ordered. I was never asked to substitute my flavors, and was never told that they replaced them. When I realized, I called the store and talked to the manager. They refused to give me a refund or take accountability, and instead blamed it on their workers for not "knowing the flavors". However, if they were out of the flavors I asked for they should not have gotten confused. When asked about this, the manager simply said "since you've left the store we cannot do anything, and can't give you a refund." I also mentioned how bad it could have been if someone had been allergic to pistachios, and got a blank apology. In total, I got 16 Macarons replaced without my knowledge or consent. Overall, the awful system and terrible management made this much more difficult than it should have been, and that fact coupled with the lack of compromise with the manager left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

These 2 stars are only for the sweets, they are good but I have no desire to go back there again. The customer service and the customers have no consideration for people of color. I have been there at least 4 times and each time the cashier rushes us out the line to help the next person behind us. Today, a lady skipped the entire line to order and the cashier was going help her until I said something, just pathetic! read more

Cupcakes are baked in unbleached liners, corn cups for teas, recycled cups for coffees, and recycled paper for all packaging. All of SWEET's furniture is vintage; wood fixtures and glassware are 100% recycled. I almost walked out, but decided to give them a chance. I ordered a vanilla cupcake to try before I invested in a dozen. I asked them if the cupcakes were fresh and the girl said that they were from that week. Most bakeries make them fresh daily or every other day. I tried eating my cupcake there, but I couldn't stand the smell. I left with just the one cupcake.

I read somewhere that the bakery is set to close soon and wanted to share a few thoughts regarding how important this bakery is, not only to my original childhood neighborhood, but the city itself. A family member bought a delicious strawberry cake for my birthday a few years back, and that was my first introduction to Crumbville. The owner's decision to offer vegan and gluten free desserts was a smart decision, but she also offers regular baked goods. During my first visit recently, I purchased a strawberry cupcake, which had a lime-flavored cookie base. It was sublime and reminded me so much of the birthday cake from years ago.
