Love getting the cakes here as they're not too sweet. I usually opt for the strawberry matcha cake or the taro cake. A full sized cake is like $42. The decorations are super cute, and the flavor is light. The matcha cake doesn't taste much like matcha at all, though, but I couldn't care less. The strawberry part is light and slightly tart. Highly recommended for an Asian taste palette!

I definitely like supporting a local business when possible. It's even better when the product and quality is good! The small bakery had some nice surprises. The space is ample with enough seating and nicely decorated as well. The pastries that they have look very modern, but have a traditional essence to them as in Asian bakery... They're still very delicious and not too sweet. My favorite thing that I got was the ube puff. It was flaky like a croissant with a fluffy, creamy filling that was just the right amount of sweet for me. The staff was very friendly and quick on their toes to make sure to get everyone's orders just right and out in time. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.
I heard about this place because of a special promotion they were running for their 3rd anniversary. If you spent a certain amount, you could get a raffle ticket and potentially win a Labubu, and the first 5 who do, are able to get a guaranteed one! I figure, I love sweets, and I don't HAVE a labubu yet, so why not right? :3 I came by and got 3 slices of cake (the Strawberry Sweetheart, Double Layer Chocolate Cake, and the Summer Lemon Pistachio) as well as two pastries (Strawberry Danish with Almond Cream and something just called the Grilled Cheese) and was able to play the raffle where I won a free drink, choosing the Lychee Yakult. Aesthetically speaking the cakes are very pretty and the packaging holds up which is nice for when you have to commute back home with them ( I live near Coney Island for reference). Strawberry Sweetheart: I think the balance of strawberry cream to the cake was handled well. A bit more strawberry forward in terms of strawberry than a strawberry shortcake with a hint of rose to it I believe, I detected some floral notes to it, which were understated but present and delightful. ------------------------------------ Double Layer Chocolate Cake: I will say, when something says Double Layer Chocolate Cake, I'm kindddd of expecting it to be a burst of chocolate flavor. This isn't too heavy handed, which I know some people would appreciate, but I'd love for them to pile on the chocolate flavor! ------------------------------------ Summer Lemon and Pistachio: I think the lemon flavor compliments it well, just wish the pistachio was also a bit stronger, it is Summer Lemon and Pistachio after all! The flavor combination is a good pairing though, tart+ citrus with the earthy nuttyiness of pistachio. ------------------------------------ Grilled Cheese: Okay, when I asked about this, they couldn't REALLY tell me more about it which I thought was funny lol. Tastewise, it kind of tastes like a gooier egg tart, one which the center isn't as baked through. It tastes good! And the pastry shell, I will say is very crispy which is a great plus but it didn't really come off as Grilled Cheese haha. ------------------------------------ Strawberry Danish with Almond Cream: Just a well executed strawberry with pastry cream danish. The cream has good flavor and pairs well with the strawberries, and they do their pastry shells VERY well here I've noticed. They're super crispy and not a hint of sogginess to it, even when holding all that cream inside. ------------------------------------ Lychee Yakult- perfect as is. It tastes a bit like yakult+ lychee boba which is great, well balanced and you can taste both flavors which lend to the overall drink. ------------------------------------ The cherry on top was the free Labubu with my purchase ( I ended up getting Loyalty) but overall, the baked goods they make here are quite good. It's a little off the main shopping street in Flushing but not too far. These cakes are basically made for the quintessential Asian who often doesn't like their desserts too sweet. I will say, I'm kind of the antithesis to most Asians though, I have a huge sweet tooth and I would love to see a bit more Western flavor profiles mixed into some of these cakes, whether that's denser cake, sweeter creams, or more out there combinations on top of the pastries they have now!
I recently visited @sweetcakenewyork, and I have to say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish and prices are reasonable. I tried the unique Taro Mochi Croissant and it was outstanding. The croissant had a perfect balance of flavors and a flaky, buttery texture that melted in my mouth. Everything tasted fresh and clearly made with care. Matcha Cranberry attracted my attention so I decided to get it. It was fabulous. Everything was delicious and it is hard to pick just one. I love that they have my fave flavors, Matcha, Taro and Ube. This place is a hidden gem (or well-loved local favorite), and I'll absolutely be returning. This is a cute café/bakery on Northern Blvd. right off of Main Street. They have a few tables inside for those who want to dine in. I thought the desserts were a little on the pricey side and I saw one dessert with a price point of $11.99...yikers. Considering, I can get a slice of cake nearby for around $8, it may not be the best value here. I found the service was friendly. Their selection of desserts seemed limited but perhaps it was because of the time of day which I went - around 4:30p. They also didn't have a menu posted up anywhere where I could study their drinks to decide what I wanted. I had to decide the minute I got to the register because that was the only place where they had a menu! The double layer chocolate cream cake was good but the purple cream puff was not my favorite....tasted a bit like matcha cream which is usually a bit too chalky for my liking. One thing I did love was the clear/transparent cake boxes they had for people who bought whole cakes....so nice to be able to see the cute designs of the cakes!
Everything is as pretty in person as it appears online! The Taro Vanilla cake nails the "sweet but not too sweet" flavor. Very natural, I would say, and tasty. It is nearly $10, but as I was eating it, it did feel larger than I had anticipated, so I wouldn't mind getting it again or trying another flavor. The Hot White Peach Oolong Tea is a light drink as well. I wish it stays warmer for longer though. The ice definitely cools it all down, but I'm not sure if that's my ordering mistake. The cafe ambience is perfect for a study session or friend catch-up during my Sunday evening visit. The service isn't the most hospitable during my time and the main, if not the only, reason I'm not rating 5 stars.
Sweet cake is a very clean and nice cafe. They have big clean tables and also tons of outlets. The girl who helped me was super nice and attentive. She did not rush me and let me explore. It wasn't busy at all, but she was very welcoming. Prices are decent and desserts are delicious. I took off one star because the cake fell apart in transport. The cake is mostly soft cream so it's very easy to fall apart. I loved the way they boxed the cake. Maybe next time I get different cake that's not as delicate. The cake was very good. Their desserts are beautiful and tasty. Not very sweet which I prefer. The creampuff wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The filling tasted more like taro filling than ube. The shell was crunchy but tasteless. Next time I'll probably try their other cakes.
Space wise is relatively big for a cafe in Flushing. About three blocks from Main Street/7 train (still not too far away) to say the least. Right across the street from Flushing Town Hall. Best of all, it's a very short walking distance for me from my home to Sweet Cake. Staff will immediately greet you as soon as you've walked through the door. That fridge display of vibrant cakes and delicious cream puffs is just so mesmerizing to look at, wondering to yourself what you should order and chow down. Has quite a lot of seats in the seating area on the side and towards the back where there lies a very clean (I mean spotless restroom) for customers to use. Love that there're plenty of outlets to charge your phones/devices either underneath the seats or on the wall. Ambiance wise is very warm and homey like an outdoor patio with wooden seats and tables. You order at the front and then they call the # on your receipt, sometimes the staff might even bring you the tray of treats to where you're sitting. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. You can sit for hours without being worried that you'll be shooed away. Extremely fast service from very friendly staff. They accept Apple Pay besides credit/debit card and cash. Price wise ranges from moderate to expensive depending on what you decide to get like a sliced or whole cake. I have ordered an iced brown sugar boba milk tea (tried asking for no ice to get my money's worth but then staff said it would have been just milk foam....so no, you can only get it with less ice if you really don't like ice in your drinks...epic fail). Accidentally forgot to adjust the level of sweetness while looking at the delicious cake display, so turns out that I've ordered it with 100% sugar instead of half the amount in the end. It is in a huge plastic disposable cup though, so at least you'll get lots of sips out of the drink. Even without full sugar but because there's the brown sugar syrup, I think it's already sweet enough. I'll have to remember to adjust the sugar along with the ice level when I go back next time. Love their qq-textured boba, it's been cooked to just the right amount of chewiness (not too hard and not too soft or slimy). Also got an ube brown sugar mochi cream puff and a sesame earl grey chiffon sliced cake. Moving on to the taste test, the crust pastry of the cream puff is far too soft for me. In other words, it crumbles up way too easily imo. I didn't even use a lot of pressure (just by holding it gently) and the crust already cracks/falls apart. Therefore, I think it would be a good thing to improve on the texture of the outer crust. However, I truly admire the rich and creamy but not heavy ube filling of the brown sugar cream puff. Additionally, it's not overly sweet either which is a huge plus. The sprinkling of the tiny mochi pieces have added the perfect final touches to the cream puff like a cherry + icing on top. Other than the crumbling texture, everything is great on its own. As for the rectangular sesame earl grey chiffon sliced cake, there's a lot of aromatic sesame flavor in between each of the evenly-layered sesame cream filling. You can see that they've also added edible gold flakes as decor + as the highlight on top of the cake. It's not very overwhelmingly sweet unlike the desserts from typical American bakeries. I feel like all the sweet treats from Sweet Cake would be great to pair off with a cup of coffee for a quick treat, as desserts or for a cheat day breakfast. I mean, you gotta treat yourself once in a while lol. Can totally see myself going back to this cafe more often now from time to time whenever I'm not off to Manhattan and staying in the Flushing area. Sweet Cake is certainly a hidden gem! The sweets are creative, delicious, and visually stunning. Plus, their desserts have that perfect balance of flavors. Definitely a great spot to satisfy your sweet tooth! Until next time!
I stopped by here on a Saturday evening at around 7 pm and I was absolutely charmed by the place! It was very spacious and quiet, with a few people studying and some chatting. I was greeted by a sweet lady behind the counter and took a look at all the cakes and pastries, which were all very aesthetic and had unique flavors! I bought a sesame basque burnt cheesecake ($~11) and a strawberry yakult cheesecake (~$11). Since I bought two cakes, I was able to get a free smoothie, so I ordered the mango yakult smoothie. I took these all to-go and they provided the cutest bag, which both cakes packaged individually and securely. I tried both cakes when I got home, and really enjoyed the flavors of both! I liked the sesame cream and the mochi bites on the sesame basque cheesecake. The strawberry of the strawberry yakult cheesecake was fresh, and the cake itself was very light, not too sweet. The mango yakult smoothie was also delicious, though it was more of a slush than a smoothie since it was pretty icy. I saw they had an ube cream puff but it was sold out when i was there, so I plan on come back another time to try it! Plus, it seems like a sweet study spot with lots of space and outlets.
I was lured in by the numerous instagram reels of this place, and it lived up to the hype! It's a cute dessert shop with a good amount of seats and outlets as well. The mango shaved ice was refreshing for a hot summer day, and they had cute little star shaped jellies in it! My favorite is the strawberry basque cheesecake though! Not only was it instaworthy, it was loaded with strawberries and not too sweet! My friend got the tiramisu and it was good, but about 80% of it was cream... wish there was more cake. Overall, it's a nice and cozy dessert shop! Can't wait to come by again! read more

I definitely recommend going to sweet cakes for some scrumptious desserts. I loved their mango cream puff that they had! It was light, airy, and very fluffy. There was a lot of mango flavoring in it! Also the portion size was really good for the price. The service was also good, the workers were polite and informative. The store was also pretty big and had sufficient seating. I came here hoping to try the sesame flavoured cream puffs with boba topping because of all the reviews, but because I came here around 7 pm on a Sunday night (1 hr before closing), of course, they had run out. So, not wanting to waste a trip, I ordered a ruby red milk tea with boba and matcha strawberry cake. The bill came out to a total of ~$16. The milk tea tasted as good as other boba tea stores in the area and is reasonably priced at $6 + $0.50 for extra toppings. The cake is decent. It is aesthetically pleasing, but I'm not fond of the taste. While enjoying my dessert in the cafe, someone (baker?/owner?) came by and offered me half of a croissant (new product?/extra product not wanting to sell tomorrow?) for free. It was interesting tasting and also very kind of them to do that. It seemed to be either a strawberry or raspberry glazed croissant. Sorry I can't tell the difference as the taste was very subtle. In terms of vibe, it's a very nice well lit place with some kpop as background music. The staff won't try to push you out so you can relax and do what you want there, whether that be working on a project or chilling with friends. Hopefully, I get to try their sesame flavored cream puff with boba topping next time. read more
Firstly, we really appreciate that they allow dogs since it was so hot and humid outside, it really helped to cool him off. We came here twice before. First time we bought cakes as takeout: the cakes had unique flavor options and it tasted pretty good, pairs very good with tea but they are quite pricey ($9-$13 a slice). Second time we stayed in with our dog. We got the sparking coffee which was ok, coffee flavor is diluted and I don't get any sparking. The imperial lychee jasmine slush was yummy, it was sweet but not too sweet. The ambiance is nice and chill so it will be a nice place to chit chat with friends or get some work done. There is bathroom, which is a must for me (coffee makes me go, if you know what I mean). There is also free WiFi for customers only if you ask the employees for the password. read more
Very modern and clean bakery/cake shop in Flushing. It's a fairly new cafe. I saw this on Instagram and really wanted to check this place out because they specialize in black sesame desserts. I ordered the black sesame cream puff and black sesame pudding. For the cream puff, they add boba to the top of the cream puff after you order it. Total came out to be about $12 for both desserts. I really liked the cream puff; the cream inside was rich and the pastry and boba on top really tie the dessert together. The pudding was OK; it really had rich black sesame flavor but it reminded me of black sesame paste soup, which I'm not a fan of. Next time I want to try the black sesame cheesecake and basque cheesecake, but the price is pretty steep ($9-$11). read more

Ordered a 7inch taro cake for my grandmas birthday for $38. Pick up was super smooth and it looked amazing! They didn't write the words directly onto the cake but did write it on a notecard which I inserted into the cake. The fruits on top looked great and the flavor was not too sweet. Strong taro flavor and overall this cake was a hit for everyone! Will be back to try the other flavors! read more

Plenty of seating and great playlist playing the hit songs of Kpop haha - Lychee green tea cheesecake $7.99 - Great lychee flavor but didn't have much green tea taste. - Ube cheesecake $7.99 - Disappointed that there was no ube taste at all. - Sesame Boba Cream Puff $5.75 - Had lots of mini bobas and a great sesame flavor. Desserts look so pretty but they are a bit expensive. I had a mango cake and chocolate cake. The mango cake was nice and light. I really enjoyed it. Not so much for the chocolate one. It has as hard outside layer of chocolate crunch but inside is yellow cake with a lemony cream. The passion fruit tea drink was average. Go with the mango cake. read more

Came in here with a friend a few weekends ago for an iced coffee beverage. I'm not entirely sure what the name of the beverage was but it was soooo freaking delicious and sweet and creamy and amazing. I'd die for one right now. It reminds me a little of a less strong Vietnamese coffee so perhaps it had sweetened milk in it as well as syrup. Oh, it was just yum. We also tried these moon cakes. Which were pretty good. I liked the creamy yellow filling more than the mochi paste. But if I had more room I would have gone with one of their epic and exquisite desserts. She said they make one of the best tiramisu shes ever had in her life and their cream puffs are gorgeous as well as their various slices of cheese cakes and macaroons. Stopped here late afternoon for some coffee and dessert and I loved everything about this place. I saw some people doing work on their laptops and some were even playing card games. This tells me that it's a place that people can actually hangout at and not feel rushed to finish their food or feel that they're going to get kicked out. We ordered the black sesame earl grey cake, strawberry pudding, peach mango pudding, coffee and milk tea. The black sesame earl grey cake was my favorite out of everything. The cake was soft and light and the filling was very nice as well. Everything was not too sweet and didn't leave you feeling heavy after eating it. Staff were friendly, it was a bit of a wait. The desserts were delicious. Blueberry pudding: very creamy Green tea lychee cheesecake: rich green tea and cheesecake is good. Black sesame cream puff: boba on top of the cream puff compliments the black sesame. Would recommend! You can eat at the dessert place but, it was packed when we got there. read more

A very cute and modern cafe serving up yummy teas and Asian sweets! I got the Osmanthus oolong tea (hot) and a sesame boba cream puff, which came out to around $12. The tea was a little bit too hot to drink right away, but in terms of flavor was amazing! Oolong tea with a hint of osmanthus' floral aroma. The boba cream puff was super unique and filled with a yummy black sesame paste - it was quite heavy but so good! The best part of my visit was the service - the lady at the counter noticed that my glasses were wet since it was raining heavily outside and handed me a napkin when I arrived, and then when I was sitting and eating my snacks she came around and passed out free pineapple cakes to each diner. Sweet Cake has fantastic not-super-sweet desserts for everyone and I enjoyed every single dessert that I tried, especially the mango cream puffs. They were super reasonably priced and packed with cream that was so airy and light. I also tried the brown sugar mango cake slice and the lychee one as well- both were great as well but didn't compare to the cream puffs. I will certainly come back and hope that they can come out with more cream puff flavors too! read more

Cake shops are the way to my heart! This place is so cute! They have a bunch of different types of cakes and tarts as well as a boba/tea menu. We ordered: Lychee Green tea cheesecake ($7.99) Strawberry moment ($5.25) Water is free, just ask! The lychee cheesecake was actually so light unlike your usual dense NY cheesecake. The cream was also infused with a lychee flavor. I really enjoyed this! The strawberry moment was probably my favorite! Just simple strawberry flavored cake with a very fluffy cake layer. Neither cakes were too sweet and was perfect for after dinner dessert. It was very chill in the cafe. I absolutely loved this place! Cant wait to try more cake and their drinks next time. :) read more

Got the chance to visit this cute little dessert shop in flushing again! Our favorites were the tiramisu, lemon tart, and the mango bingsoo. SO and I stopped at this relatively new dessert shop. We had tea and coffee along with sharing an ube cheesecake and sesame boba pastry. The desserts were sweet, but not overly sweet so as to cause that tingling feeling. The cheesecake was not the normal dense kind, but was delicate and creamier with a great ube taste. The boba pastry was generously filled with a black sesame cream/paste and covered with boba topping. Will definitely be returning! read more

'Ah, no wonder' is the only thought that crossed my mind as I stood at the counter. I was planning on buying a cheesecake here after reading many good reviews. These signs littered around the store soliciting five stars made me turn right back around. After being open for only two months, Sweet Cake has a rating of a full five stars on google with over four hundred reviews. It doesn't take a genius to do the math. How do I know if people were telling the truth and the cakes are actually delicious when there is essentially a 'scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' deal occuring? It's not exactly trustworthy and coupled with the fact that it was dead empty when I walked in, I decided to take my patronage elsewhere. While I cannot speak to how the cakes themselves taste, I can speak of the service. There were two workers who both greeted me as I walked in and bid me goodbye as I left. So props to them for that. read more
The cakes here are so good! They are moist and not too sweet! The drinks were not too great whether it was with or without sugar it was too sweet. They don't have many tables so prepare to likely order takeaway. They can get really busy! So prepare to wait in line but it's worth it! read more
This spot had decent desserts. I tried the Sesame Cheesecake and the Passion fruit cheesecake. They were both light and tasty. The sesame cheesecake was subtle but airing on the side of being bland. The passion fruit was so fragrant but not overpowering. While good, the slices were small and quite pricey. We did get free samples and the ambiance of the space was good! read more
I did not get a free puff. I saw the high reviews and took a chance on ordering a cake for a friends birthday. I was very wowed by the aesthetics, interesting flavors, and gold flakes on the cakes. I chose the Oreo cake and what impressed me further was that they placed it in a giant tall clear box that made it feel like carrying a master piece. It was quite cumbersome to carry but definitely provided the wow I wanted from the birthday girl! The cake was extremely moist, soft, fluffy, not too sweet but still very tasty. Definitely the opposite of your Martha's. I thought presentation, price, and taste has really impressed me, the service I received from the kind staff is what brings it to 5 stars. You will not disappoint for someone's special day!!! If I ever have a celebration in Flushing this is my new go to place! read more

The rose milk tea is good. Cakes were decent. The 5 of us ordered 5 drinks and 3 pasties to share. The workers behind the counter need more training. They brought us 2 of the 3 pieces of pastries and ONE fork. Then we had to ask what happened to our 3rd piece and for more forks. What I didn't like was the offer for 5 stars Google review for some sort of free gift. I think rating was obviously over inflated. read more

They have so many Asian inspired flavors for all their sweets and I couldn't decide what to get bc they all looked so good. We ordered: - Mango cream puff - Black sesame boba cream puff - Lychee green tea cheesecake I really enjoyed both of the cream puffs, especially the black sesame one! Cute bakery in flushing - everything was pretty decent but nothing was super amazing. I tried the strawberry moment, ube cheesecake, and mango cream puff. Ube cheesecake was definitely my favorite, since it is a lot lighter than traditional American cheesecake. It still has a layer of normal cake on the bottom, and the cheesecake part is on top, but has a light and fluffy consistency. The strawberry cake and cream puff were decent, but I've had better at other Asian bakeries. I wished the strawberry cake had actual strawberry slices in it. I did like how nothing was overly sweet though. Sweet Cake is a new bakery in Flushing that carries a variety of boba/drinks, and pastries. A solid 3/5, and here are my reasons why. Highlights: - Lots of seating inside - Cream puffs were fresh and tasty - Passionfruit cake had the right tartness Feedback: - The cheesecakes don't taste like typical cheesecakes. It felt more like a sponge cake with a layer of custard on top? If you're looking for a lighter option, then maybe that works for you. But it's not the usual flavor or dense-ness you would expect from a cheesecake. - Blueberry Cake: The topping tasted funny to me, and lacked sweetness. - Peach Yakult with Popping Boba: I wish I took a photo, but the drink tasted like all artificial flavor :( There was a layer of something that looked like pulp on top, but I later think it was just powder. After reading someone's feedback about this place soliciting 5-star reviews, I feel a little more wary about coming back. read more
