I can't say enough great things about the start to finish of my backyard transformation! At the beginning I met with Domi (DQ) who spent at least 3 hours in the backyard taking measurements, gathering input etc- and came up with an amazing pool, spa and yard design. As with any project, there were obstacles- as in having to take down a large section of an adjoining block wall, and of course encountering massive amounts of underground water that we had to run a pump day and night to keep cleared out. The crews which included demo teams, excavation crew, masons, plasterers etc were all so kind and helpful. I was especially impressed with the masons who rebuilt the block wall with old and new blocks so that it blended beautifully. They are craftsmen for sure. The two project managers- Juan and Johnny were at my home inspecting things almost every day for four months. They were available within minutes each time I called or got freaked out- even on weekends- sorry guys. James- the GM was so kind- he came by numerous times to make sure things were running smoothly. The office staff who included Annie ( who helped me pick out tile, etc) and other- sorry I forgot your names- were always attentive and made the payment process easy. The value and aesthetics to my property made the price a good deal- I do have to say I spent more than the original quote- but there were unexpected issues that had to be managed for structural safety. It was made clear to me at the beginning of the project so there were no shocking moments and things were communicated to me clearly. We had a pool installed by Swan Pools. It started out okay, but we quickly learned this was going to be a challenging process. The sales representative, Jim, was great until the contract was signed. After that, very unresponsive. The permitting process took 10 months, with some of the delay due to Swan Pools lack of follow-up. The construction foreman, Johnny, did a good job and was informative. Once the pool was completed, the start up process was terrible. Finally hired another firm to get the pool conditioned and the salinity level to an acceptable level. This is a review that is a long time coming. I think that my perception of where this review should land has changed overtime so I'm glad I waited because I think this is probably a fair review. The pro about the experience was that at the end I got the pool that I wanted. I am really happy with my backyard and the pool has become a very nice addition to the house. I did think that the early phase of the process primarily around the design and contracting was fairly easy. I also want to acknowledge that during the time that my pool was built, the effects from Covid were also still very much in play . This meant mostly that the subcontractors that Swan Pools typically uses or used were not always available. This extended the build process quite a bit, but I was prepared for that. The con really comes around to the communication with the project manager and team, and the workmanship around the very last parts of the pool construction, primarily the concrete for the decking and the coping. If you hire Swan Pools, you should expect that you will have to manage the project very tightly. I found the communication from the project manager to be extremely poor, although he was a really nice guy and I know he did me some favors, he was not as organized as I would've hoped, and often forgot about things that we had talked about and then generated unnecessary, extra costs in having to redo some work or do things like bring in heavy equipment a second time at a significant extra cost. Also, he paid some subcontractors directly, and when I had a change in design, the restocking fees were enormous. That being said I also think he did save me some money in other areas. Also, at the end, I think they had to use subcontractors that they were not very familiar with because they needed to complete the project. They have many projects going on at the same time, and I think the project manager frankly was not able to keep up with all the projects. They also did not have a good supply of subcontractors, like I said, because of Covid, which I understand. The concrete had to be redone multiple times and really even today is very inconsistent and does not unfortunately look the way I had hoped it would look. The imperfections are minor and probably only noticeable to me, but they are there. The overall cost of the project ended up being about 15% more than I had originally anticipated and budgeted. This was driven both by design changes from me, as well as some unexpected costs related to things like building an extension to the stucco wall for seating, etc. I do think some of those things could've been better fleshed out during the design phase and I also think some are directly related to the project manager , not listening and having to redo some of the work. Again, in the end I really love the backyard. And the pool. I do think I would recommend swan pools to people generally but I think you have to be very careful with them. Maybe the same goes to other pool companies. You should expect to really have to own the design process and I don't mean picking out tiles. I mean the actual design of the pool This includes whether to put retaining walls in or other features. Pay close attention. Because if you don't, it will cost you on the other side. And again for me communication is really important. The constant lack of communication with the project manager became a huge problem, unfortunately. I think that is principally the reason why I cannot give this a five star review. Also, I was disappointed with the workmanship at the end. So consider Swan Pools if you are looking into putting in a pool. They do know how to do it, and they know how to do it well. The issue is subcontractors may no longer be an issue and that will serve you well in your journey. read more

We had a pool installed by Swan Pools 4 years ago. We had a designer that we know do the entire backyard and then bid the job across various companies, including Swan. The sales team was on it, and worked to fit our budget. The process itself was pretty good and fortunate for us, we finished the yard exactly one month before the world shut down due to Covid. Why am I now writing this review? Because the quality of the work has come to light over the last 12 to 18 months. And, I've asked for support from Swan and there really has been no ownership or care fort eh quality of the work that has been seen. In the four years since we've had the pool, we've had to have it drained and the surface redone because there were streaks and spots that started to show. We did this thru Swan and they were somewhat helpful and owned the work at that point. We've also tried to get some support with the concrete that is the entirety of the backyard hardscape. It has stained and become so discolored. Swan looked at it and said there were definitely areas that were not great, and shared potential reasons as to why, all of which could have been avoided had the work been done in a high quality manner. When trying to get to a resolution, we were ghosted and have since been working with other professionals. All of them have shared similar reasons as to why the appearance has resulted in the discolored, cracked, and simply unacceptable manner just four years later. And while it is easy to say it was a poor job done by the previous company when you are looking for work, we've also received independent feedback from our designer who did not, repeat - did not - recommend Swan. I wish I could say "you pay for what you get" and that we saved a bunch of cash working with Swan but we didn't. Their bid was on par with the other companies we vetted but I am certain, their quality is subpar. My suggestion for anyone working with them is to get educated on all of the materials, substrates, installations, finishes, equipment, etc. I'd also recommend looking at reviews from people that are 3, 4, 5+ years into their work. For the cost of what you are doing, it really should hold up much longer than it does. Needless to say, you don't want to be 4 years into your pool ownership and be working with other companies to rip up the hardscape and start over. read more

If you haven't signed your contract, RUN! As I have read some of the reviews, I am horrified to discover I am not alone. If you work with SWAN, be prepared to have a project designer abandon your project multiple times throughout the contract. ZERO communication or customer service is provided. I signed my contract in June of 2021. DQ was our designer. The video rendering he did was beautiful. It was the best of the pool companies we had interviewed. DQ or Domie, informed us that one of the benefits of working with SWAN is that there is consistency. You write a check to one person. You also have complete transparency in the cost of the project from start to finish. During the meeting, he showed us a program that would provide the costs of each item, the design elements, we could add or remove as we went along. This was a complete lie. We were never provided a login to see anything. DQ told us the project would be done by December of 2021. It's August 18th of 2022, and our project is still not completed. It gets worse. This is just the start. The design rendering that we were provided and that we signed our contract agreeing too is not the design of our pool. We were showed a video and then provided CAD Drawings. I have brought the video to the attention to every person we have spoken to at SWAN, and they have said I should have reviewed the CAD. By the way, our project was $300,000. As a consumer, you would expect if you were sold the project via the video rendering, that is what you would expect. Not according to SWAN! It took 3 months to get through the HOA. We were informed during the sales process that they do a lot of business in Nellie Gail Ranch. It passed in November and rather than digging before Christmas, I requested we begin the first week of January. Instead, the dig didn't begin until January 29th or 30th. After they tore up our yard, they abandoned the project for over 8 weeks!!!!! No word. All excuses. I called, texted and asked when they would be starting again. It took over 2 months! I included pics in this review. Now, we had a disgusting mess in our yard with excess dirt and mud. Our dogs still needed to go outside, and no one their cared! The excuse - COVID. They would get someone there as soon as they could. They returned to the property in April. Remind you, we are at the end of August now. They would begin working, then would disappear for weeks at a time. I would call, text and email to understand the timeline and we had nothing but excuses from everyone. Eventually, as the pavers began to get laid in the back yard, there were dings in the pavers. In fact, right now there is a paver that has been lifted on one of the patios and you can trip. They haven't addressed any of this - it's just part of the routine when you work with concrete pavers they said. Let's go back to the video. They had us remove trees from our yard that provided shade and cover. They had stuck to the CAD drawing - and created a patio that didn't look anything like what was in the video. They told me that I should have reviewed the CAD. Well, I did review and although they were right about the design, I was sold on a video rendering. Not a CAD drawing. I don't have a lot of experience looking at these drawings. I said, if you were selling us on the CAD - then why isn't that the method you used to do the sale. Perhaps I would have spent more time. Instead they showed us a video design and said this is what we were getting. No it wasn't! Jim came to our house and did a walk through. I showed him the patio wasn't going to look okay. He tried to convince me it was fine. As the patio got built, there was a huge drop-off behind the patio which then led to some stairs. It looked ridiculous. I said, I didn't pay $300,000 for a poor design and this to look stupid in my yard. This doesn't look elegant it looks like a poor design. I spoke with the mason, he agreed that it wasn't a good design and we should do the upper deck. We said that would be great. Now, pay attention. THEY BUILT THE UPPER PATIO, WITHOUT PROVIDING US AN ADDENDUM, THERE WAS ZERO DISCUSSION ABOUT THE COST! AFTER THE UPPER PATIO WAS COMPLETED, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FOR AN ADDITIONAL $22,000! I said, I am not signing this...you didn't even talk to me about the cost. You built it. You built the whole patio and didn't even discuss there would be a cost. Jim shared that "it would all work out." Don't worry he said. Here we are now, it's August 18th and now the pool is ready for the final inspection according to Jim which they will not call until I sign the addendum! They installed the bbq, and appliances didn't connect anything to ensure it wouldn't work. I included images so you can see what's been done. There are cracks in the water slide which hasn't even been used. Don't use SWAN! That's the bottom line. THEY ALL LIED! EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM. read more

I figured it has been 8 years since I wrote my yelp review and its time for an update. 1. The pipes in my waterfalls were not sealed properly and cracked. Leaking rust into the pool and ruining my rocks ( $10,000 repair ) 2. They put REBAR in my brick coping.. the rebar has rusted and expanded and it breaking my coping apart ( $10,000 est repair ) 3. They installed the filter backwards and it cracked the insides ( $500 repair ) 4. The decking was poured sloping to the pool and now away. So it pools up and runs into the pool. 5. They acid washed my decking too many times and it gets as hot as black asphalt in the summer and feels like sandpaper. 6. There was stain in my pool which was ugly so the acid washed it and left the acid in all weekend ( they forgot to come back on that friday ) So my plaster is super rough and causes blisters and ruins bathing suits ( $9,000 repair) PLEASE do not you use this company ever. Never did an update so I am going to paste my orginal review too just in case. - Previous May 10 2016 Worst Pool Company Ever They messed up something with my pool every single step. I was constantly baby sitting their subs Its family owned, so they really have no accountability to anyone about how they act. One of their workers defecated in my back yard. They sprayed my gunite wrong, did the plumbing wrong, broke a lot of things around my property, the waterfall leaked, they did the tile wrong, and the filter was installed backwards. Stay away from this company They had the worst and most rude workers I have ever dealt with. We had our pool started by Swan late 2021 and completed April 2022. Swan is a reputable company and have been in business for a long time. Considering that this work was being done during a pandemic with most construction trades short-staffed, they did well to complete the job in a reasonable amount of time. Our designer, Jim, was great and our project manager, Julian, was very professional and accommodating. The pool turned out spectacular. There were some snags along the way which is expected with a project of this scale but Julian was quick to respond and make corrections when needed. After a visit with D.Q., a Senior Designer with 28 years of experience, who has won all manner of awards, the other companies were off the list. He did a design that was not only better than we had imagined, it was better than we could imagine. We went with Swan pools based on a recommendation of a friend. What really sold us on Swan initially was working with their designer Domi. Of all the designers we had come out, Domi was the only one we felt really listened to what we wanted from our pool. The initial meeting with Domi was about an hour or so, during that time he talked to us about why we wanted a pool, what we were expecting out of the pool and also walked the yard with us. All that time spent with us paid off, Domi gave us a design we loved and we ended up signing a contract within a month. As reference every other pool contractor spent about twenty minutes with us, most of that time was measuring the yard and they really only asked what pool shape we wanted and if there were any special features we wanted. Construction began in our pool at the end of August 2018 and with a few weeks of rain delays the pool was done by the beginning of February 2019. I don't have any complaints about three construction, any issues were dealt with quickly. It's now August 2019 and everything is working great. I have had some issues after start up that I needed help from Swan and they have always been quick to respond and if needed correct things. If I ever need to build another pool I wouldn't hesitate to call Swan. read more

I would not give them any stars. DO NOT choose them. My neighbor and friend told me before I chose a pool company, she said I would not use them. So here we are suffering for it. The company has been fully PAID because they pressured us to pay even though they had not completed the pool and spa, they missed the deadline of my daughter's birthday so it was pushed back a month, they did enough to have the party. I would expect more of a pool company that says they have been in business this long. Our friends came to our party and several made the comment about the entry of my pool, I wanted beach entry but was talked out of it and now it's a cliff of an entry to get in. Total liability issue. They did not a final walk through with us, after two months of sending emails and phone calls for the final inspection, they finally came out to complete it with the city but did not finish the job, they left the seams around the pool and spa unfinished, there is hole/rebar sticking out in the spa and is causing a rust spot (going on 2+ months and growing) we are finding something else that is growing from the tiles in the spa. I've been sending in emails almost weekly and phone calls - not one response. We are now making calls to attorneys because they refuse to communicate with us and they have been paid in full before they were even done. I regret not listening to the reviews that said stay away. After two months of being ignored and a YELP review - James contacted me for a meeting. Yelp works! A contractor was scheduled to repair the growing rust spot in our spa yesterday but no show. It's a shame and a waste of water and such a hassle, we have to drain the pool and the spa to get the repairs fixed but here we are. There are worse things in life we could complain about. read more

Lake Forrest Swan Pools - Contractor excavated the pool and all utilities were destroyed, this was expected. All utilities were rerouted and replaced by me (the owner) so the grounds could be irrigated. The next sub came in and we showed them where the new utility was so they did not rip it out of the ground. We showed cut ones and said these are abandoned. The sub ripped the new utility out of the ground, and broke the main connection 60' away. They were standing in the open trench where the main connection was, and looked at it and covered it up with dirt. Later when they left the irrigation came on and water came flowing out. I told the project manager, Juan at swan pools and he said it was underground and he's not responsible. He would help but it would be later like 3-weeks so I would have to climb the slope and water my back yard as well by hand until then because it was a hassle for him. Intentional negligence and bad customer service. I told him if he would not come out, I would pay someone else to fix it and take it out of his pay. He said he would file a lien against me for the money. No other Swan pool employee will answer. read more

Destroyed our front yard and electrical and still not fixed months after job complete with absolutely no response regardless who we contact in the company. So disappointed our Pool ended in such a sour note. My response here on this review deflected the issues showing I was vacationing in Puerto Rico that it was an incorrect review which is not the case. I hired swan pool in Lake forest California to build me my dream pool. Jim the designer listened to my ideas and draw a fantastic design. Annie the office manager was also very nice and receptive to my calls. But the best and most patient person during the process was my project manager, JUAN Corrales. He was very patient and communicative. We almost spoke daily through texts or calls and he continually tried to resolve any issues that came out. The process took a bit longer than I expected and I had to pay a contractor to fix some minor issues afterward. Our pool building process began a few months ago and was just completed with final inspection the other day. First, I will tell you that the process is lengthy and there are a lot of moving parts that go into building a pool and jacuzzi. Swan was recommended from a few people I know, so we decided to go with their company. Once I understood the process, I began to feel a bit more comfortable with everything. It is a major project. Whenever I had questions, Sal and Mike were there with quick responses. I know I wasn't the easiest customer, but I wanted everything done perfectly. From working with the City on permits to dealing with the day to day build, these guys exceeded our expectations with the final product. We could not be happier with the pool and jacuzzi.
