If you're looking for a pool contractor who actually knows their stuff and won't flake on you, Eddie at Pool Effects is your guy. We had him out to our new place to do a complete equipment upgrade, and the entire experience was very educational me and Eddie was very courtesy with our timing and needs from start to finish. The scope of work was pretty heavy: full leak detection, draining/acid washing the pool, and completely replacing the old plumbing with a brand new Pentair pump, heater, and filter system. They also added new LED pool/spa lights and brought our equipment pad up to code with a proper bonding rod. Eddie made what could have been a stressful project incredibly easy. I forgot to add an important thing to my review. We have a rock pool and I was never really happy with the original paint job when the pool was built 25 years ago by a different contractor. I could see what I wanted in my head but didn't really know how to explain it. Also, I am very picky so I was nervous about if it was even possible to produce what I was envisioning. This included removing existing pavers replacing with top casted concrete, pool gutted, remodeled with new everything, new equipment with lots of automation, new pipes, needless to say it was a big job. It turned out beautifully and was done in less time then was originally estimated. From the start Eddie (the owner) was communicative with us and his teams of workers making sure they were performing to his high expectations. I called Pool Effects to get an estimate to repair an underground piping leak, rebuild a corner of the pool that was damaged by palm tree roots, and replace two leaking valves. Eddy sent a man out the next day to scope out the job and quickly provided a competitiveve quote. I was planning on getting one more estimates before proceeding, but because of Eddy's professional, prompt response and his educated responses to my questions I immediately hired him. Eddy gave us a start date and, unlike about every contractor I hire these days, began work on the day he estimated. He had two crews that were both courteous, professional and clearly knew what they were doing. They were in and out in the two estimated days, and the visible work looks great. Because of the location of the leak I was expecting a great deal of dirt and debris in the pool, but there was virtually none. If you're considering renovating your pool but don't have an entire life savings to spend, definitely go with Pool Effects. From the very beginning Eddie and his team were awesome to work with. They came out super quick to assess what we needed, and gave us a really detailed quote. I had a long conversation with Eddie on the phone about every possible scenario with our pool (we had a massive crack that was leaking water), and how much each scenario would end up costing us. He was transparent on the whole process and pricing. After receiving 6 other quotes from various companies, I went with Pool Effects for three reasons: 1) COST - they were significantly less expensive than other companies. 2) PROFESSIONALISM - I never had to chase Eddie down to get the info I needed. He always followed up with me. And if he said he was going to do something, he did it. 3) KNOWLEDGE - as I spoke to several different companies, I could tell which ones were just talking nonsense versus which companies offered detailed information and clearly knew their craft in the field. After we decided to hire Eddie and Pool Effects, I got confirmation that we made the right decision in a few different ways. First of all, after we began the project, his team found that the damage was MUCH worse than we thought (which is one of the scenarios he warned me about). The price could have skyrocketed from there, but Eddie worked with me and cut his cost down in every possible way that he could in order to keep our business (our alternative was just filling the pool in). So he kept the price affordable for us. Secondly, after seeing just how bad the pool really was, Eddie decided even MORE structural reinforcement was needed, so he added some services to the contract that he did not charge for. Where do I begin with this review?... Research: I got 5 other bids from 5 other pool companies. Some came in very high, some came in low, and some right in the middle. Many were nice, but they just did not seem right for the job. When Eddie (Pool Effects Inc.) came into the picture, he did not mess around. His answers were sharp, concise, and quick. We had a sudden, unplanned remodel of our pool a few months ago due to various leaking issues. We chose Pool Effects because they provided us with the best information to make an informed decision on how to get the healthy pool we wanted with less traditional chemicals. For example, they advised us that the copper plumbing did not go well with a salt pool (previous estimate made no mention of this). I was happy they added rebar to strengthen the pool structure during the crack repairs and basically gave the pool a new shell underlying the mini pebble--the foundation is strong. The hardest part was choosing the mini pebble---we went with mini pebble in Aqua Cool with blue glass beads that gives the water such a beautiful sparkly look. These pictures are 2.5 weeks out. This was a big job, and any minor issues have been addressed along the way. Overall I am very happy with the sparkly, clean look to the pool and I feel it is solid work that will last a long time. read more
