We began using this company a few months ago, but at some point our account was apparently given or transferred to a different pool company--without any notice or explanation. Because of this undisclosed transfer, a single month fell past due. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, OC Pool and Spa sent a rude text message claiming they had mailed the bill and insisting we had received it, while demanding immediate payment. When I requested an emailed invoice for clarity, they refused and said they only mail invoices. Just two days later, I received another text threatening legal action over one month's past-due balance. This type of treatment toward customers is unacceptable. The lack of transparency, refusal to provide proper billing options, and the hostile approach to communication reflect very poor customer service and business practices. read more

I am not pleased with the service I received. I was supposed to be a brand new customer with my first service scheduled for 6/17/2025. I requested weekly cleaning and a one-time pool filter cleaning. The technician was not on time to clean my pool filter. He was scheduled to arrive in the morning. I informed him I would not be available in the afternoon. He arrived when I was not at home. When I returned home, I found two leaks on my pool filter. I called to report the leaks and a representative named Anthony told me to call another company if I wasn't satisfied and then hung up on me. What horrible service by a rude and unprofessional representative. This is absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced with any company. I have been using OC Pool and Spa since 2001. When something breaks, I am on the phone to Steve. If he is not able to take the call immediately, he has always returned my call within an hour. He is a very pleasant man and knows his stuff about everything pool related. Steve also made me aware of a $400 SoCalGas rebate for my new heater and made it super easy for me to send the form and photos to them. I am techno challenged, so that was very helpful. The service technician who has responded my house and performed the work has always been Brain. Brian has been in the biz for 28 years. He has also forgotten more about pools and equipment than I will ever know. Brian just replaced my old heater with a new one in about an hour. The new plumbing and electrical looks awesome. We had OC pool and Spa out for a second time yesterday, and a review is overdue. This time we had our pool filter replaced. They replaced our pool pump and heater the first time they were over. They had the lowest price out of the three companies I received a quote from, with no hidden fees or charges when they finished the job. The installer Brian went over the top and did extra work without being asked to do any of it! We recently bought a house a few years ago with a 30-year-old pool with all the original equipment. Of course, some of the equipment started to go bad due to age, so we needed to replace it. We accepted a quote with OC Pool and Spas. They showed up right on time. Brian, the installer, put in all new piping and removed other old unneeded vacuum pumps at no additional charge. Brian had told me he was done with the job, and I saw black paint on his hands. I went and looked, and Brian had painted all the piping and my rusted timer boxes black to match. This was over and above, and I was so impressed! Our pool guy said we did not need a new filter yet, so we passed on that. A few months later the filter started leaking, so we called OC Pool and Spa again. I had issues with my spa pump. Another company told me that the motor was bad and the entire thing needed to be replaced. With parts and labor it would have come out to over $1500. I got a second opinion from OC Pool and spa. Within 10 minutes of getting here they diagnosed it as a loose electrical wire - the motor was fine. They charged me less than $100 for the service. The repairman showed up on time And was very professional and neat. Unfortunately my pump was not repairable and needed to be replaced. I was quoted a fair price on the pump replacement as I did some independent checking online for new pump prices..... So I was pleased that the price was competitive. The pump was replaced and is working great since I had them out there I also opted to have them replace a pool light that was out and they did that too quickly neatly and professionally and once again for a fair price. Recently I had OCPS come out and replace our 20+ years old pool heater which had been repaired a few times over the years. It was time to upgrade to a new one so I called Steve at OCPS who I had dealt with before. He recommended a Hayward and gave me a quote which I thought was very reasonable. He had me send a photo of my equipment which he forwarded to his technician Brian to verify any additional parts needed. Brian arrived on the date scheduled and within about 1-1/2 hours removed the old heater and installed the new one. I used OC Pool and Spa from Sept 2021 - mid March 2022. Was very pleased with Gabriel. The issue is with their office that attempted to double charge me for Dec 2021 It was their mistake, I provided them the cancelled check. When I first phoned them to inquire he hung up on me. I called back thinking the call was dropped and he quit the service, said he didn't like my "f***ing" attitude and hung up again. He quit after servicing the pool on 2 of the 5 Thursdays in March so I owe 40% of the March monthly fee of $110 or $44. I was charged and paid an added billed amount of $95 in Feb 2022 for filter cleaning which they never performed. Steve or whoever runs this business owes me the difference between the $95 for work not performed but charged and the two pool cleanings, which I did not pay that amounts to $44. The difference owed me is $51 which he refuses to pay. He now threatens to sue me. I'm not interested in threats or ad homonym attacks only to get monies due me and close this matter once and for all. read more

The 2020 curse has hit our household! Spa heater stopped working and husband tried to fix it with replacement parts but we still couldn't get it up and running properly. Called Steve and told him our problem, he was able to diagnose our problem via text pictures of the equipment. In stead of giving us the run around of trying to sell parts and repairs, Steve suggested a new heater since it would be more cost effective. Price to replace was very reasonable and he even told us the equipment came with a $300 rebate from the Gas Company since it's a more efficient unit! The best part was that we were able to schedule service and replacement in 2 days! Brain was punctual and a very knowledgeable of our old equipment as well as the newly installed equipment. All prior services provided by supposedly reputable pool maintenance companies was an ongoing nightmare, always ending with shoddy and/or unnecessary work. There was never a time I felt comfortable with any pool staff until I called OCPS and met Brian, who in my opinion is the most knowledgeable, honest and thorough pool tech that I have ever dealt with. Had them install new filter. They failed to re-hook up the waterfall features in the pool. When I noticed, I called them to fix. I stopped using them earlier because they are very unprofessional and rude. I used another company recently to install a new pump. Steve at OC Pool blamed the new pump installer for the waterfall mess. New installer had nothing to do with it and its obvious to see. I asked if Steve could send someone out to take a look. First he forwarded a message from his employee/filter installer laced with insults and foul language (I kept the text for small claims court). Then he went silent. This is a pretty simple fix! I have been pleasant throughout and did nothing to warrant this continued unprofessional bad behavior and poor service. Run, do not walk to any other company. Did I mention the $125 trip charge? I still welcome a call from the owner to work this out. A simple visit from one of their technicians and they will easily see they are at fault. If they respond with excuses or by trying to make me look like the villian, I will have my answer and so will other Yelpers. I have only written 5 or 6 yelp reviews. When our old millivolt type gas pool heater bit the dust, we contacted about half a dozen pool repair companies for quotes to replace it. Some didn't even respond, a few came to our home and examined our old heater, then left with a promise to email an estimate. These estimates ranged from about $2800 to over $6200. We dismissed the highest and lowest estimates, checked the internet for any excellent or bad reviews and settled on O.C. Pool & Spa Service. The owner, Steve, was polite, not pushy, and explained all we needed to know. We debated the $3100 purchase for a few days, then hired his company for the job. Within 3 days, we had a new Hayward 400,000 BYU heater installed and running. BUT the installer, Brian, called and had us turn off the gas so a needed gas line repair could be made, for our safety, at no extra charge. NOW we have a great pool heater at a fair price heating our pool fast.
