Gabe and his team did a full backyard design and remodel for us that was completed about a year ago. We made some additional space in our yard by shortening and shallowing the pool, took out a baby pool, put in a spa and an elevated wall with a water feature, moved the pool equipment, added hardscape, added artificial lawn, and added an outdoor patio with a TV, Bbq, fireplace, bar top, etc. I got many quotes before the project, and Gabe's pricing was very reasonable. If you're reading this right now, chances are you're considering who to choose to build (or rebuild) you a swimming pool. Just 6 months before writing this, we'd finished a number of improvements & renovations on our home of 10 years. We stood outside and looked around, saw this empty space, and decided we wanted a swimming pool (*again* - we'd each grown up with pools). It was truly a spontaneous decision. Doing research, and meeting with 3 different builders, I quickly learned what red flags to watch for in pool contractors. The biggest problem, at least in our area, is their taking on a seemingly infinite number of open jobs at once - thus dragging out the timelines forever since they're unable to adequately service them. The second red flag is ambiguity in proposals. When you see a contractor unwilling to estimate an integral part of the job (like decking), claiming that a partner contractor will have to price that separately, it's because it's an opportunity to raise the price. Make no mistake, they'll take a cut of that "separate" cost. The 3rd is overly sales-driven practices. It's not a horrible problem, but it doesn't work in your favor as a client. The company sends a "Design Consultant" to first meet with you. They're not really a designer, as much as they are a salesperson. Their method is to tell you what you need to spend, tell you that they're your primary point of contact, and - here's the part they're not so upfront about - massage your feelings through the process. They won't actually make the process go any faster or better, but you'll pay a premium to "feel" good about them as your builder. What I look for in working with people, and what I believe everyone should look for, is passion for their profession: People who truly love what they do - you can hear it in their conversation, and see it in their face. Of the three proposals who came to visit with us, Gabriel Pires of Supreme Pools is the only one who is the actual contractor (the others were a "job manager" and "design consultant"), and Gabriel clearly loves his line of work. You know he cares, and he sees his work as a reflection of himself. Gabe is also driven by solutions. During the design process, he saw an opportunity to better conceal our equipment with the cascade wall. Our 36 inch cascade wall raised to a 48 inch for this to happen, without extra cost. The most obvious plus we noticed - while recognizing this may not be the case for all projects (in our case, the stars luckily kept aligning) - was how well the phases managed, schedule-wise. Signing the contract to final inspection, less than 4 months. The duration of actual work, from breaking the ground to filling up the pool, was just under 60 days. That can't happen in all projects, please understand that. But it rarely if ever happens with any pool builds, even in the easiest circumstances. The difference is that Gabe pays attention - and when he sees the opportunity to move things forward, he takes it. Just the same, when Gabe sees an opportunity to do something better for you, he suggests it, and keeps the cost manageable in those situations. He's not looking for ways to "take more" from you, he's looking to leave you with a better end result. An important thing I want to get out of the way: I recognize we live in a world where some people expect everything to go off without a hitch - anything less than perfect every day will be met with outrage. If that sounds like you, please do not build a pool, let alone do anything to your house with your direct involvement. You'll need to disappear and hire someone else to handle your projects. I say that to you as a friend! I'm a homeowner who loves being his own project manager - it's a lifelong thing. And I know, and I accept, there will ALWAYS be hiccups. There are things we cannot see until after we begin a job, and there are even some things we can't see immediately until after we've completed a task. Building a swimming pool is no exception to that reality. The rule to remember is take just a moment to recognize the problem, then quickly put all your focus on the solution (not the blame, etc - that's just wasting time). That is just free advice I'm giving you readers, having nothing to do with Supreme pools specifically. It applies to every home project you'll ever do. Building a pool is one of the most intensive, at times disruptive processes an existing home can go through. Not all personalities are meant to connect (i.e. some people prefer to pay for that "Design Consultant" aka project therapist I mentioned earlier). But Gabriel Pires is the best, most caring pool contractor I've ever met. His team, project manager Bruno and partner/photographer Delilah, are wonderful contributors to the quality of the end results. I got quotes from several vendors via Yelp, so I can vouch for that. I know next to nothing about pools, as this is the first time I've ever had one in my life. I asked a million questions and not once did he seem annoyed. I hired him to both clean the filter and take care of an algae issue due to lack of chlorine. It was a two day job, which required the initial filter cleaning and addition of chemicals, and then a follow-up to put the filter back together and make sure the chemicals were balanced. The rating scale should go above 10 with Supreme Pools. I had 3 pool lights on 3 different light switches. And I had a short somewhere so 3 other electricians told me this was the best way to set it up. This was over 10 years ago. It's taken me almost 3 years to feel calm enough about this situation to sit and write this review. My pool looks beautiful now that we did the work to keep water in it. I got a lot of free stuff thrown in for various issues during installation that aren't even mentioned here. We hired Gabriel to redo our pool, because he had done our neighbors. He made a mistake on her pool and was quick to correct it at his cost. We liked that about him, so we hired him. Gabriels crew put a hole in the pipe that runs from the deep end drain up to the basket and then to the pump. They made a choice to not tell us about it and just added Pebbletec to the pipe to block it and they covered the drain in the deep end that we once used for cleaning the pool. What's even more crazy is that they actually put a drain cover where the drain should be. It gets in the way of the pool cleaner. They also covered the pipe that was built into the side of the pool for adding water. After the pool was done we were losing water just below the skimmer Every. Single. Day! Long story "shortish". Gabriel never gave us the pool cleaner that he promised, since we no longer have a drain in the deep end. Gabriel said we don't need one, anyway. Ok, sure. He lied to us for over a week about the pipe that was broken by his crew. He never paid for the leak detection guy that he claimed he'd cover, since he didn't know why the pool was leaking. We busted out 2 areas of concrete to find the issue, because we didn't know about the broken pipe, yet. Once Gabriel came clean, we used a camera to find the broken pipe that was pouring water into the hill where the pool sits atop. It was not blocked properly. We had to make all of the repairs ourselves. Gabriel said that he'd fix the problems and we'd have to pay the other half of our balance. Why would we want him working on our pool, again? He also allowed crew in my yard on a day I asked him not to until either he was there or I was home, because they'd need to leave the gate open and I have dogs that I needed to lock up. His crew had recently left a neighbors gate open and their dogs got out. I got home and he's in his truck on the street and the gate is wide open. So, we now have a creepy crawler cleaner in our pool that is an eye sore and has to be removed when we want to swim. We did pay half price for a crappy pool that looks beautiful, but not what we want. We decided not to sue, but writing this makes me feel like we should have. Gabriel stopped talking to us and told us to go through his attorney. We sent letters to his attorney and never received any responses. Gabriel refused to talk to us, so we finally decided that it was cheaper to pay half price for the pool and fix everything on our own. I never expected this from a guy that used bible study as a reason to prolong getting me an estimate. He'll come here and tell you that I was horrible and I was. After so many issues even my calm husband was horrible. I realize that most of his reviews are great and I'm happy for all of you and the work you received. I was very nervous about resurfacing my pool but having Gabriel as my pool contractor made the project less stressful because he was there for me every step of the way, either by immediately responding to my phone calls or by stopping by to handle my concerns. Unfortunately, I had to deal with a preexisting severe leak problem in my pool, but Gabriel handled that by hiring 3 different leak detection companies to detect the exact location of the leak and fix it so that it would no longer be an issue. While we were busy concentrating on the pool leak, some algae developed on the pool bottom so Gabriel then hired a SCUBA DIVER to descend to the bottom of the pool to eradicate the algae spots by vigorously scrubbing each one with a chlorine tablet rather than using a large dose of chemicals in my new pool. I'll start of by saying in over my 6 years of owning a pool I've used many different pool repair services when the repairs were more than I could handle myself. To be honest I've never been fully impressed with the service I've received. I'm very picky and detail oriented. When a job is done, I expect it to be done completely and done right. I got to say Gabriel's promptness (sent a quote request Sunday and 20 minutes later he provided a quote) competitive pricing, and attention to detail was impressive. 4 days after quoting I had a new filter installed. Furthermore, rather just doing the quickest plumbing job he re-ran the existing plumbing to make the filter easy to service and painted it black to make it last longer and look cooler. I wasn't expecting that kind of thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and pride in ones work; it is hard to find that these days. What an honest company/service. Our pool heater was showing an error and was not working properly. I contacted several services. One told me just through photos that our pool heater is too old and probably can't be fixed and then quoted me $1300 to replace it.
