We absolutely love Sutton's. We've had one bad experience and Gordon took care of it right away. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and polite and the owner genuinely cares about your experience at his restaurant. We've been regulars here for nine years. If you're in the area, you have to try it. We Love wine down Wednesday's! Half price bottles of wine!! The last Thursday of every month is the wine dinner. Great service! Yes, the food was good, calamari tender and not greasy, spinach salad delicious and seafood pizza was great. But the service was outstanding! Our waitress was so kind and we wanted to sit outside, the only table was in the sun and it was windy, so she let us move as soon as another table cleared. I would not recommend this place. First time we have ever eaten here. The food was way too expensive for what you get. Best thing on the menu was the flatbread pizza that my son got. Our bread that was brought out to dip in oil had green mold on the bottom. Of course the kids had eaten almost all of it when I noticed it. Grabbed our waiter, he was kind at that time, he apologized and brought more. Never informed the manager, whom never came an addressed the moldy bread my kids and I had eaten. Once our food came, mine was missing the fresh basil that was listed as an ingredient on the menu. At this time we were out of drinks and I asked the waiter after he gave us our food order if we could have refills, he response threw me off. He said, "oh you want a refill?" My glass was empty for at least 15min. It was a long day and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, the manager walked by my table probably 10 times while we were eating and never addressed our again empty glasses or the growing pile of empty dishes from our appetizer and salads. He ended up leaving and walking by our table with empty glasses and empty plates while waiting to get our bill. I did not finish my meal, it was mediocre at best and the artichokes looked old. We finished and had not seen our server again since receiving our meals. We waited patiently, as my kids started to lose their ability to chill, so I left to the car and my husband waited to pay. While waiting in the car I watched from the car, the employees goofing in the kitchen. I texted my husband that he just needed to catch the next person that walked by because our waiter was still messing around in the kitchen 15minutes later. It was the worst experience at a restaurant I have had in a long time. Their only saving grace would be to get a manager that can run the place and turn it around. We will never return. I normally give places multiple chances but it ultimately was a breakdown on many different levels of poor service. And the moldy bread?! That kind of killed it. read more

This place is located in the parking lot of Kroger on Richmond and Man o War Road. I stop in here when I am on this side of town and have a hunkering for Italian food. The wait staff here are very on point and nice. They tables and floors are always clean and tidy. Actually their bathrooms are usually spotless as well. I love that. They have great pizza, salads, sandwiches and pasta. When the weather is permitting, they have a great patio where they usually have live music for entertainment. It gets packed during warm weather so get there early if you want a spot outside. Those seats are a real hot commodity. I have never really had bad service there at all, which is pretty impressive. They also have Half Price Wine bottles on Wed. My friends and I love that deal. We kind of like the Juice. Stop in next time you are in the area. I am sure you will love it. read more

I can't believe that I've waited so long to review this awesome local restaurant. Maybe I was afraid that the secret would get out. It's just off of Richmond Rd and Man O War Rd. I used to come here when I was often on that side of town at the ice rink or when I would go to the movies, I would stop to eat here first. It's within walking distance of the Movie Tavern across the street. The free starter bread with herbs and oil is a nice beginning touch. I've gotten the seafood pasta dish, which was excellent. I usually get a flat bread pizza as my meal my favorite pizza in Lexington, the BBQ chicken. I always have leftovers. The service is always top notch... Never a complaint from me about that here. Great place!!! We were traveling to Georgia for the weekend and found this gem. Awesome place. Cozy, clean, great menu, great service. Following pandemic guidelines carefully. This is my second visit here. I fell in love with the massive portion of mussels on their appetizer menu. Regular price $10. $8 during happy hour. Totally worth it. Today being a weekend day they had prime rib I tried it. Sides. Delicious. Prime rib. Tender and texture approved!!! Free wifi is another plus along with their full bar. Let me start off by saying that the review is based 90% on take out dining which is how I primarily eat from here. Ambience, meh...feels like a chain, looks like a chain, etc...nothing exciting about the decor or the location at all. Menu, solid staple of great Italian dishes with sizable portions. Sometimes they're excellent and other times they're just okay. They're still probably the forth of fifth best place in the city to get this type of cuisine. Service, well where do I start...it always sucks. Sometimes getting to-go food from the bar is just plain painful. When calling in your food they always seem annoyed to take your order and picking it up is even worse. Management could really fix this but they haven't. Price point, a little on the pricey side to be fair. The chicken Parmesan with red sauce is what I always get. It's been great for a while but the last few times have started to slip. I have eaten at Sutton's several times over the years, but probably won't again. We were there a couple of months ago. My friend got a fish sandwich with sides. The fish was not done. When we were finally able to find someone to tell, he took just one piece back with the sides which were pretty much not eaten yet. He had eaten the done part of the other piece and said it was ok if they just replaced one piece. Probably ten minutes later the server came back with that lone piece of fish; no sides were on the plate. My friend did not complain. Before we left, someone came out and had a good-natured chat with us, saying that he was sorry, but the kitchen at Sutton's does not use a meat thermometer and that is why it occurred. He said it like he couldn't believe it, as we could not either. Nothing was taken off the bill; no complimentary dessert, no amends at all. I finally wrote a personal email to the restaurant and I got "the next time you come in you can get $10.00 off your meal." I'm sorry but that was way too little and way too late. I would rather have had an apology saying the meal should have been comped. Instead he said it's a small business and unlike big businesses they can't give complimentary meals. In this case, I believe it would have paid off, because the whole thing really turned my husband against the restaurant. We had had some strange experiences the last three times we had been there. We made reservations for party of 3! When we got there the hostess told us no tables were available other than on the patio or in the bar. We explained to the young blonde host that we made reservations for the reason of being seated in the dining room. The host just said she was sorry and seemed to really hate her job. There was no personality, no kindness, just get out if my face attitude. We went ahead and let them seat us at the bar. But told her that we needed to speak to a manager! After 10-15 mins a manager comes out to our table and we explain our concern. Basically fallen on his deaf ears, because he had the same attitude as the host. Not really sorry, not really anything. During this awful ice storm, we were fortunate enough to find Sutton's was willing to deliver and did they ever... I've only dined in a handful of times before so we decided to order a variety. The bang bang shrimp was actually better than expected bc I didn't have high expectations for it traveling well. We also had the chicken tender appetizer bc I was craving buffalo sauce, but then it gets special. The spaghetti was amazing and they provided extra meat sauce on the side. The lasagna was cheesy beyond belief and had a nice middle layer of ricotta. There was also spinach which was a surprise, but really complimented everything. My wife loved the pork chops marinated in olive oil, garlic, and rosemary accompanied with mushrooms and broccoli. I'd vouch for them as well, but she liked them so much sharing wasn't an option. Finally, the meatloaf was different than most are accustomed to, but it was surprisingly delicious with a thick sauce of peppers and onions with an old world rustic feel. And did I mention they delivered in the snow, to my doorstep, in 40 mins! We were quoted an hour. Just awesome. Yes, highly recommend. I might even get to try the pork chops next time. Miss Alyx behind the bar was super friendly and a great intro to Sutton's! Lots of good conversation to be had for those who like to have a drink after work to wind down. The inside is a lot bigger than I originally thought, and the bar only seats eight, but is tucked around the corner from the front entrance. Bathrooms are hidden around a corner, but are very clean. The bar prices were very reasonable, and they had a wide selection of liquors and even had a couple different sangria's that were lovely to test out. I'd definitely love to go to dinner sometime. read more

Hello Business Owner Here, This was hands down the rudest I've been treated in a restaurant by staff. First I come during happy hr 10 to close... I was there at 11pm not near closing time. I wasn't greeted cause the bartender wasn't there so some man grabs me a menu and says "bartender will be right back" he shows up first thing he leads with.... hey you can't have that in here pointing at my Yeti filled with coffee cause I'm "working" we all don't have day jobs. Not that it should matter but I'm taking it TO GO..... any way order my appetizers to go.. during "happy hour" then he charges me 4$ for to go which is more than regular priced menu items... so if I said "I'll eat them here" then ask for a to go box we're all good. Also while waiting the staff is clanging dish-ware and things are breaking... it was NOT Enjoyable. Worst experience ever in a restaurant that's saying a lot when I worked I service industry for 5 years. Will be going to OLIVE GARDEN for the foreseeable future. I am a person with a physical Disability and I am in a wheelchair. Sutton's has the BEST handicapped restroom that I have been in. They have both vertical and horizontal grab bars which is very helpful. The sink is not Too high for a wheelchair bound person. The server starts you off with delicious bread and pesto seasoning. I have only had the chicken Alfredo there because it is so delicious. I ask them to add small Pieces of broccoli to my pasta, and they do it with no problem. I ask for small pieces because it is hard for me to cut broccoli with one hand due to my disability. Their bread pudding is fantastic! I highly recommend it for dessert! I went to Sutton's with a friend on a Sunday night at 8 pm and had a pretty good experience. There wasn't really anybody there at that time, so we didn't have to fight for our servers attention. She was very attentive and made sure we had full drinks and our food in a timely manner. I will admit the food wasn't spectacular or the best I've ever had, but it was delicious. I did enjoy the decor and theme of the restaurant. There were mug shots of celebrities and mob bosses all over the place which is fun. The music was also a nice touch, helped give you that Italian feel. This is a perfect place for casual dining with friends and family. read more

My sister and I were there about a year ago, so Covid-19 hasn't risen it's ugly head. The place was dimly lit and lots of iconic pictures on the walls a nice bar set to the side tables were very nice. The food I got lasagna and my sister got spaghetti with meat sauce. The lasagna had sausage flavoring to it, so I was surprised by that. The spaghetti was very very good! The prices were a little high but we kind of expected it going into a place like this. Had to take a family member to a hospital in Lexington and needed to grab a bit to eat nearby. Sutton's fit the bill. It is close to St.Joe east and had great reviews on Yelp. The hospital reminded me that eating healthy is important so I thought I would order sensibly in portions and food. I originally ordered the turkey sub dip. I have never had turkey with a beef broth dip. Sounded interesting. So after some time studying the menu I took the plunge and called in my order. I was disappointed to learn that the Turkey sub dip was on an old menu and had been discontinued. The waitress was willing to check and see if they could Still make the sandwich which I appreciated. I respectfully declined. I did ask for the waitresses recommendation and she recommended the turkey club. Now the Club Sandwich is my go to safe (bland) choice. I went with the recommendation and added in a house salad (I know Pretty milk toast on my selections, the Stromboli sandwich looked fantastic but I was counting calories) So I got the turkey club and house salad carryout. You pick up your food in the bar which is shut down temporarily due to the pandemic. The bartender was the "waitress" whi took my order. She was so pleasant. When I got to finally eat my food the Turkey Club was on a sub cut at a diagonal for ease of handling. The cheese was melted and the bun slightly toasted. Bacon and tomato was tasty and I did not feel stuffed afterwards. The house salad was average. That was the only reason they did not get 5 stars. When I stopped by the placed looked to have an active business. I do want to go by sometime when I am not counting calories. It still looks delicious. I highly recommend Suttons. read more

Current health score had marks off for the silverware, floors and lighting. Not a big deal to me since I am not eating off the floor. (This has been addressed since my last visit) We had a reservation for 7pm. When we arrived 10 minutes early to check on the reservation (before the other 8 people in my party showed up) the host said it would be a while. So my group of 10 ends up having to huddle at the entrance. Finally 12 minutes after our reservation time we are seated. The waiter comes and gets our drink orders. He gets our food orders. The food comes out 5 minutes apart from each other until 15 minutes later my party of 10 all have their food. But my wife was given the wrong thing. Why? The waiter wrote it down wrong. The food was great. The lasagna was very delicious. The sauce was so good you could have just given me a bowl of that. Our waiter was having a bad night or was new. He messed up our tickets. We had eaten and talked for 30-40 minutes when another waitress came to tell us our waters was working on our tickets. Finally we got our tickets and our poor waiter was apologizing to us for the wait. I told him not to worry about it. I still tipped him well. -Food was good -Service and hosting needs some work but the owner told me recently that staffing has been updated and worked with since my last visit. I would go back. Had a wonderful first experience at Sutton's last night. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. Honestly my only complaint was that the bread could have been fresher! My boyfriend and I both ordered french onion soup, which was good. I ordered a plain cheese pizza, and he ordered the chicken marsala. The pizza was huge! Thin crust, and absolutely delicious. I was happy to have leftovers. The chicken marsala was excellent as well! We also ordered a chocolate lava cake and chocolate mousse for dessert. The lava cake was out of this world! I love Suttons. It's so nice to have local delicious Italian food available in this part of town. The atmosphere is very Italian and calming. It feels like a place that the Rat Pack would have eaten in. The service is good...very friendly staff who are not too overbearing. The food is amazing. I love the eggplant Parmesan with alfredo sauce. It's a lot of cheese, but it's sooo worth it. The eggplant was cooked well...it wasn't mushy, which was very nice. The bread that came out before the meal wasn't very memorable. It was overly crunchy, as if it had been in a warming drawer for too long. But everything else was great. We seldom make it over to Sutton's because it's on the other side of town, but the food is really good. They have a very varied menu but I usually get one of the pasta dishes. They will allow you to make substitutions to their dishes also which is nice as I don't love capers or olives and both are really hard to pick out of things. Their Bruschetta appetizer is outstanding and I also love their Bread Pudding for dessert. Their covered patio only has a few tables but it is really nice. They also have two Bocce ball courts around the side of the building. read more

My team and I were staying at the DoubleTree down the road for a team building trip, and I was in charge of food. I ordered from Sutton's in advance through their website. When I got to the restaurant the hostess told me to go to the bartender to get my food. The bartender then told me that they had never received an order from me, even though I got a confirmation page which luckily I had printed out and brought with me. He apologized but said that since it was a larger order and it was during the lunch rush that my order was going to take an hour to prepare! Absurd. I would have cancelled my order but since they had already charged my manager, I had to wait an hour. I would give the food we received a 6/10, since it was not packaged very well and slightly soggy. read more
