Fried chicken with cream corn
Jennifer D.

Good diner food. Stopped on the way road tripping yo Tennessee. Fast service and friendly. Very casual place.

Soup beans with cornbread

Ramsey's hit the spot! I had the soup beans with cornbread and a side salad. Everything was perfectly seasoned. My partner had a hot brown which was piled so high with meat! The mornay sauce was perfection and the broiled cheese on top was heavenly. It was so much food, she got three meals from it! My daughter ordered a kids "veggie plate" and the portions were huge - an excellent value for $5.25. She was eating leftovers for days too. My other daughter had a burger which she was very happy with. The server we had was very friendly, and since we were from out of state and looking for things to do, he was kind enough to get opinions from the other staff and give us a short list of awesome playgrounds. We enjoyed our visit and loved the funny kids menu and cute signage encouraging relaxation and conversations instead of WiFi. Will be back next time we are in the area.

This might as well be my kitchen, when we can't come up with anything to eat from home, we go here. The creamed corn is one of our favorites in veggie land. The mac 'n cheese is consistent and good! The soups make me happyl The chicken, both fried and grilled is tender, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Service is always quick and friendly and I love all the hand painted chairs and random tables here. If you wand a good home cooked meal, jump off I 75 at the 108 and pop in here.

When in Rome... Kentucky Hot Brown!
Mark R.

My understanding is that this set of restaurants (I'm not going to call it a "chain" was founded in downtown Lexington and they expanded to other locations. This was just delicious food - on vacation and stopped in for lunch en route to Tennessee. Had the Hot Brown - man was this good! - and a really nice Lexington micro brew. Service was *extremely* friendly and welcoming, from the server to the manager. Really nice environment with a patio - highly recommend.

We were in the Lexington area and were looking for some local Southern cooking and this place came up. We noticed there were a lot of regulars when we arrived. We were seated very promptly and were brought out a dinner menu and a gluten free menu for my wife. I started with a Yuengling beer that I cannot get in Illinois. Their dinner menu starts after 5pm and they offer a few breakfast items, sandwiches,Meat & Three along with a few homemade favorites. I chose the open face Hot Brown which Kentucky is famous for...turkey and ham on top of a slice of bread with gravy covered with cheese and bacon. Very good..maybe a little too much cheese. My wife had the BBQ chicken breast with 2 sides. Again ,just like you would get at Grandma's house. The portions are huge otherwise I would have gotten a slice of Missy's Pie..they looked amazing. For a good ole home cooked tasting meal..this is the place!

Pot roast with greens and carrots

Have to raise this review to 5 stars. My Ramsey's experience inspired me to make my own copycat pot roast and coleslaw versions since I live far from Lexington. Thank you for motivating me to add more delicious southern treats to my menu!

The food here is really good but don't come late if you are a person who needs a lot of things or drinks a lot during your meal. They staff gets caught up doing their nightly closing activities and its hard sometimes to get their attention. This always leaves me very frustrated and disappointed in my overall experience. To be fair Ramseys is not the only restaurant that has this problem now but it's the one I visit the most. People are ready to leave 2 hours before their shift is over and you are out in the back burner as a customer. If it were Ramsey's of old they get a 5 star all day but not currently. As always, try it out for yourself as your experience may vary.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

Ramseys used to have a chicken sandwich I loved but it is no longer on the menu. I've tried other sandwich's and they have been a disappointment since they weren't as good in my opinion. I do like the large selection of sides they offer. The breakfast all day option is nice to have also.

Yogi chicken chef salad with ranch and corn bread
Vicky C.

I've been to Ramseys only one time before this, but this time I got their Yogi chicken chef salad, which was so delicious. Their chicken was not dry at all and super flavorful and all their solid ingredients were super fresh as well. Their ranch is also homemade so super creamy and it was perfect with a side of corn bread. We also ended off the lunch with getting the coconut cream pie made by missy's that is one of my favorite pies from there. It's so good other than the food service was good and the environment was fine.

When I was a student at UK, this was the place for students. They have many good alternatives and…read morethey are offered until late, including burgers, loaded fries, and breakfast favorites. I always get the Mega HO Burger, which is a 3/4 lb Triple Burger with all the dressings. All their burgers are made with fresh daily ground beef. My second favorite is the Philly Steak Sandwich, with swiss, mushrooms, peppers oniongs, lettuce sna dhte house sauce. My wife always got the special fried chicken sandwich, which comes with hanarneo cheese, jalapenos, lettuce, tommatoe and mayo. We either get the crinkle-cut fries or the tots as sides. In addition to being roomy and tidy, the interior had several vintage games. This place is excellent for both big and small parties (particularly after a late night). The service has always been friendly and timely. Overall the prices were a little too pricey for a place like this on a college student's budget but the food was delicious and the amounts were substantial. I would still suggest it and will probably come back. There is a rumor, however, that this place may be closing in the near future.

Fantastic grub spot…read more Solid options ranging from breakfast staples to burgers and loaded fries, all available into the late hours. The interior was clean, spacious, and even had some classic games. Great for groups large or small (especially after a late night). Service was friendly and prompt. Food tasted great and portions were quite generous, though prices were a tad on the higher end for a spot like this. Would still recommend and will likely be returning.

When on the road, I want to savor the local cuisine and I felt like I won the lottery eating here!…read moreI seldom order omelettes becauseI hate overcooked eggs, but Josie's Dad omelette is amazing. Easily the best I've ever had! It has me thinking I could live in Lexington....

Josie's was our only stop in Lexington, but a pleasant one. My top-tier chum who literally went to…read morethe school of hospitality and I came by here to meet up with a colleague for brunch last Thursday morning. He's from this general area and recommended this spot, among a few others. I picked it because I liked the vibe, which I stand by in hindsight. Last Thursday was an atrocious weather day, raining for most of the time including the entire morning as we drove up to Lexington from Irvine. Since we'd never been over here, Josie's wasn't necessarily easy to spot apart from the other nearby businesses. It WAS very obviously in this larger strip mall situation (which doesn't seem like exactly the right term, but it's definitely in a building with a bunch of other stores), though we had to walk around almost the entire perimeter from our parking spot on Euclid to find it. Once we did, smooth sailing. Despite the fact that it was a weekday, Josie's was pretty busy when we walked in around 10ish. We WERE heading toward MDW, which could have been a factor, but this seems to be a pretty popular establishment regardless. It feels pretty new - this isn't like an old school greasy spoon diner type of situation - with some interesting artwork on the walls, and booths, regular tables and counter stools potentially available. Our colleague was already there and had secured a booth towards the back closer to the bathrooms, which allowed for some fun viewpoints of most of the restaurant. We were already a few days into our debauchery of a road trip, so I kept it pretty well-behaved - I opted for waffles with strawberries. That's it. The food came very quickly, as did the requested coffee, which might have ultimately been more important than the aforementioned waffles in the grand scheme of things. I honestly don't have a lot to say about them other than that they were perfectly fine waffles. The strawberries were fresh, the waffles themselves were cooked through but not too crispy, and that was that. I think it's a little hard to mess up something this basic, and thankfully all was well. The service was excellent throughout and even though I didn't foot any part of the bill (a thank you to our Kentucky colleague), the prices seemed very reasonable to me - though I also have a completely distorted perspective given that most of my consumerism takes place in the NYC area. No issues here; didn't see a ton of reasons to wander back into Lexington unless somehow Coach Cal comes back to coach the Cats and I miraculously score tickets to something at Rupp, but this was a nice little spot.
