Another solid outing at Ramsey's (Andover location). My wife and I went with three of her siblings. It's Corn and Mater Daze, so fresh corn and tomatoes were on the menu! We were seated right away. I debated between their hot brown and the chicken livers. Went with the livers so I could get fried corn and the fried green tomatoes. The livers were great as always, the corn was good. The tomatoes missed the mark, tasted like they were fried in old oil. That's been the case before with that side, so I'll choose another next time and let that one go. I wish I'd gotten a raw tomato side because the tomatoes that came with the chicken salad looked good and I'm told they were. Running our monthly errands in Lexington on a Friday night before a forecasted winter storm, everywhere we went was crowded! We usually eat at a different Ramsey's location, but this was closer to where we were. The atmosphere, service, and food were just as good as the other locations we've visited so we were not disappointed! We had a short wait for a table when we arrived, and I saw a table of women enjoying the espresso martini that I ended up ordering and enjoying. After starting with the Loaded House Salad with blue cheese dressing, the chicken livers were calling my name, along with mashed potatoes & gravy, with green beans. Hubby also had the Loaded House Salad, but with ranch dressing, fried chicken breasts, macaroni & cheese, green beans, and a corn stick. They were out of the sugar free peach pie so we skipped dessert, but we both brought home leftovers to enjoy for lunch on Saturday. I have 44 check-ins as of today and I'm sure that I have eaten here over 75 times in my life and I have never tried the Hot Mari. I finally ordered it tonight and I have to say that it is my new favorite sandwich anywhere. I can't wait to get it again! I can't believe that I have never tried this and I didn't know what I was missing! The Hot Mari is the most delicious thinly sliced beef tenderloin that has been marinated in a salty and slightly sweet marinade. I highly recommend it! read more

Ramsey's hit the spot! I had the soup beans with cornbread and a side salad. Everything was perfectly seasoned. My partner had a hot brown which was piled so high with meat! The mornay sauce was perfection and the broiled cheese on top was heavenly. It was so much food, she got three meals from it! My daughter ordered a kids "veggie plate" and the portions were huge - an excellent value for $5.25. She was eating leftovers for days too. My other daughter had a burger which she was very happy with. The server we had was very friendly, and since we were from out of state and looking for things to do, he was kind enough to get opinions from the other staff and give us a short list of awesome playgrounds. We enjoyed our visit and loved the funny kids menu and cute signage encouraging relaxation and conversations instead of WiFi. Will be back next time we are in the area. read more

This might as well be my kitchen, when we can't come up with anything to eat from home, we go here. The creamed corn is one of our favorites in veggie land. The mac 'n cheese is consistent and good! The soups make me happyl The chicken, both fried and grilled is tender, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. My understanding is that this set of restaurants (I'm not going to call it a "chain" was founded in downtown Lexington and they expanded to other locations. This was just delicious food - on vacation and stopped in for lunch en route to Tennessee. Had the Hot Brown - man was this good! - and a really nice Lexington micro brew. We were in the Lexington area and were looking for some local Southern cooking and this place came up. We noticed there were a lot of regulars when we arrived. We were seated very promptly and were brought out a dinner menu and a gluten free menu for my wife. I started with a Yuengling beer that I cannot get in Illinois. Their dinner menu starts after 5pm and they offer a few breakfast items,sandwiches,Meat & Three along with a few homemade favorites. I chose the open face Hot Brown which Kentucky is famous for...turkey and ham on top of a slice of bread with gravy covered with cheese and bacon. Very good..maybe a little too much cheese. My wife had the BBQ chicken breast with 2 sides. Again ,just like you would get at Grandma's house. The portions are huge otherwise I would have gotten a slice of Missy's Pie..they looked amazing. Ramseys used to have a chicken sandwich I loved but it is no longer on the menu. I've tried other sandwich's and they have been a disappointment since they weren't as good in my opinion. I do like the large selection of sides they offer. The breakfast all day option is nice to have also. read more

The food here is really good but don't come late if you are a person who needs a lot of things or drinks a lot during your meal. They staff gets caught up doing their nightly closing activities and its hard sometimes to get their attention. This always leaves me very frustrated and disappointed in my overall experience. To be fair Ramseys is not the only restaurant that has this problem now but it's the one I visit the most. People are ready to leave 2 hours before their shift is over and you are out in the back burner as a customer. If it were Ramsey's of old they get a 5 star all day but not currently. Ordered takeout tonight (directly from Ramsey's, not through a third party), and it was unfortunately a last straw for us. Too many missing items (salad dressing, salad not prepared correctly, missing toppings on a sandwich), and on top of that the food wasn't good (Buffalo chicken was super soggy and not crispy), and we found multiple hairs in our food (hairs that weren't us). I know things happen, and I've always loved the food at Ramsey's, but this is multiple times now that the quality just wasn't there. For $60 for three people, it's just too much. read more

I've been to Ramseys only one time before this, but this time I got their Yogi chicken chef salad, which was so delicious. Their chicken was not dry at all and super flavorful and all their solid ingredients were super fresh as well. Their ranch is also homemade so super creamy and it was perfect with a side of corn bread. We also ended off the lunch with getting the coconut cream pie made by missy's that is one of my favorite pies from there. This 2-star rating is very generous. I was really looking forward to this meal because of all of the good reviews, but I've honestly had better food at a hospital cafeteria. The only good thing about this place is that the chicken that I ordered was very thick and juicy - It was breaded nicely and had a good taste. However, the meal was two (small) chicken pieces and two sides. The mashed potatoes were absolutely disgusting - very grainy with no flavor. Upon arrival, there were plenty of people to let me know someone would be with me soon, but it took about 10 minutes to actually be seated. There also isn't a waiting area really, so the customers just pile up awkwardly at the door. The breakfast platter was OKAY (at best). Our server was great and very attentive. There's carpet throughout the main dining area, which is fine, but one of the workers spent a solid 10 minutes vacuuming after a family left. But there are tons of TVs to keep you occupied during all of your wait times. We also got the pecan pie and it was too candied. 100% will not return to this restaurant. read more

I've heard about Ramsey's for a long time, but I haven't had the opportunity to eat there until today. It definitely lived up to the high praise I had been hearing from others. It is billed as Ramsey's Country Store by the sign out front. The interior is clean and slightly eclectic with mismatched ladder-back chairs at the many tables. Black and white historical photos of Lexington are on the walls. There is a bar area with big screens but there's outside dining as well. The server was excellent and provided information about daily specials. The lunch menu had combinations available where you pick a meat and two sides. I had chicken livers, Mac and Cheese with a baked potato. The livers came with a side of white gravy and a corn bread stick. It was all excellent and the portions were generous. All the lunch combinations were around fifteen dollars. They also have a kids menu that looked like fun for the little diners. The restaurant features Missy's Pies for desserts and there is a plethora of choices! This is a great place for casual lunches, it would be a fun place to watch a sporting event in the bar area as well. Ramsey's has the vibe of going to your grandma's house on a Sunday morning. The staff is generally always friendly and the food has an element of comfort. I got their Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. All was delicious and there was more than plenty of sauce adding to the spiciness of the meal. My favorite part was dessert! They have fresh pies from local pie-maker Missy's so they are a MUST have. Josie was our waitress. She did an excellent job making sure everyone's drinks and meal was prepared to our liking. We were a party of 8. The vegetable hot brown very delicious. The turkey Reuben with sweet pickled betts was fabulous. The meat loaf dinner was tasty. Open faced pot roast sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy could not have been better. Always a good place to remember when you can't decide where to eat. Most of the food is good, like the pinto beans. And the cornbread is amazing. However, the interior is EXTREMELY dated and the carpet is old looking and musty. Even though they said that they completely replaced it after the plane was flooded, the walls and carpet look horrible. As a result of this, whenever we have it is a carry out order. The carry out is incredibly inconvenient, as you have to call in to place an order, and a lot of the time you don't get an answer until the second or third call. When you finally do place the order, you arrive to pick it up just to wait for an hour (at the least) in the parking lot. read more

You may be a little underwhelmed at first--seating is plain and the free appetizer is saltines and butter, but most of the meals are very good. I really wish I had gotten my servers name when I went in December. I was there the week before Christmas for lunch. I expected it to be extremely busy, but I had a tooth that had abscessed, and I had went to Ramsey's specifically to get potato soup because I was unable to eat a lot of other food. My waitress was so wonderful, bringing me water with no ice, but ice on the side to add to soup (everything had to be basically room temp or it caused pain). She checked on me often and was just the perfect waitress, even with multiple other tables. Ambiance was the only kind of downer - I was outside in a tent. It was warm enough, but definitely not my favorite place to be - but, it was a week before Christmas so they were busy... so no loss of stars, ha! Went here for lunch. Waited about 15 minutes for a table, but this seems like a good local restaurant as was busy. Restaurant has both indoor seating as well as an outdoor covered patio, but we sat inside as it was hot and we had just finished a hike. The menu for lunch and dinner was the same and we went with a vegetable platter and a buffalo chicken salad with a couple of fresh made sweet teas. Yea was very good. My veggie platter was a house salad, pinto beans, pickled beets and Parmesan grilled corn on the cob. I tried both the balsamic and Italian dressings and while both were really good, I liked the Italian better as it was more vinegary. The beets had some special seasoning on them that I had never tasted on beets. At first it sort of reminded me of cinnamon, but not sure what it was. They were delicious, more firm than I have had in the past and less tart. Corn was perfectly grilled but I hardly tasted any Parmesan on it. Pinto beans were in a thick sauce which was flavorful and rich. The cornbread sticks were good but I would have preferred butter on them. Chicken tenders on salad were incredible with a not too crunchy or soggy breading and the buffalo sauce was flavorful without being spicy. Dessert was their MayDay pie and supposed to be for later but after trying a bite , only about half of it made it to the car. It was THAT good. Service was pretty good but there were a couple of things I asked for that the waitress forgot to bring and I didn't ask a second time. She was friendly though and kept the drinks filled, mostly. Wanted a missy pie so I ordered the mayday pie warmed up. Honestly was disappointed, but I've heard good things about missy pies and would try a different pie next time. Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in the Lexington area. A wide variety of menu items to please the pickiest eaters. The fried green tomatoes are amazing. Perhaps the best that I have ever had. Served with cocktail sauce (which I thought was a little weird until I tried it). My go-to favorite is their Kentucky Hot Brown. I am quite the connoisseur of hot browns and this is one of the best! Generous amounts of turkey and country ham. A plate full of deliciousness! My wife had the Catfish which was a huge serving of Catfish filet, hush puppies and 2 sides of your choice. No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. For dessert, we had their coconut cream pie. Oh my gosh! This pie is to die for!
