Char broiled pork chops with green beans and cole slaw
Chad P.

Every time my husband and I come to Lexington, we always go to Ramseys. It could be this location or another but we always go nonetheless. It's one of his favorites from his college days at UK and there you have it. He usually gets anything from the hot brown to the country fried steak. Usually always with corn and mashed potatoes. Sometimes also with the mac and cheese. I usually get something similar with the coleslaw and the collard greens. Basically every single time we come we're always just happy we did it. The food is always good! It's always good home cooking and you never have any regrets, especially after a big slice of pie. We can't do that as much as we used to but it's good to enjoy every now and then. The menu is different from lunch and dinner and it just depends on the time of day. But if you want something smaller you could always ask for the lunch menu as portions are just usually a bit smaller. Prices will also reflect that as well. Good tip to have if you want to not eat as much. Service is usually always good and ambience is always friendly!

10/5/24 My husband and I came here for dinner, as we were trying to find a place to go that wasn't a chain. I've only been to Ramsey's one other time but it had been years ago. Also, it was at a complete different location. If you're looking for amazing Southern food with generous portions, Ramsey Diner is the place to go. My husband and I ordered the steak dinner, which came with perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes, crispy fried green tomatoes, creamy mac and cheese, and a side of rich, flavorful chicken livers. Every bite tasted like comfort food at its finest. To top it off, we shared a slice of their decadent peanut butter pie--it was the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal. This place has Great Southern cooking, hearty portions, and a cozy atmosphere with great wait staff. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The portions were so large we even had leftovers to take home. Hands down, the best restaurant experience we've had yet!

Fried Chicken Sandwich

I've had this place on my list for a while now and finally got a chance to try it this past weekend when I was in town with some friends for the KY State High school Football game. This diner is in close proximity to UK campus and about a 5 minute drive to UK's Kroger Field. Upon entering the inside was nice and cozy feeling, besides the back room we were sat in. That area was a little older and just felt secluded from the rest of restaurant. It had about 6 - 8 additional tables I'm assuming they use this area for busy nights to spread guests out more. Our service was pretty good even though we felt that distance. Our waitress kept checking in with us to make sure we had drinks/re-fills and anything else we needed. The menu is pretty simple -- you have a choice of numerous sandwiches or you can pick from a list of meats and then pick three accompanying sides. They also serve breakfast and have a large list of pies and cheesecake for dessert. I got the fried chicken sandwich with all the toppings and came with a choice of side, mine was fries. The sandwich was huge and they gave a large amount of fries as well. It was served on an onion bun which I love. The chicken was super moist and soft. Honestly, one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had. You can tell the chefs took time to prepare the chicken and cut off any nasty parts someone might not want to ingest. The fries were the perfect texture. Only thing is I wished it came on a bigger plate because there wasn't a lot of room to move things around, but that's just me being a little picky. My girlfriend got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and said it was also really good. That they added the perfect amount of sauce to were it wasn't too much and wasn't too little. My other two friends also enjoyed their meals and said it hit the spot and they'd dine here again. I can definitely see why it's an area favorite. Thank you for a good meal and keep up the great work!

Chicken Strip Chef Salad

Door Dash-ed the Chicken Strip Chef Salad with sweet tea. The sweet tea was mediocre, but maybe the ice melted on the way. As for the salad it was fresh. The ranch is made in house and they give you a good amount. No need to order extra dressing. My only complaint was the chicken strips were a lil over cooked or possibly just cooked in old oil. I've eaten there a few times in person in the past, and have always had a good experience with large portions. Definitely recommend!

We've eaten here a few times. Had dinner here this past Saturday. Food was delicious! I had country fried steak, pinto beans & mac n cheese. Hubby had pot roast w/ carrots, pinto beans, kale greens, Parmesan deep fried corn on the cob. Everything was excellent! We got 2 slices of pie to go. Water w/ lemon for me & sweet tea for Hubby. Our bill was $54 & change. We highly recommend Ramseys! Service was not exceptional, but not terrible.

This year for Thanksgiving, my wife and I decided to order our meal from Ramsey's since it would just be the two of us eating at our house. My mother had just passed away from her battle with Cancer a few weeks prior and we just didn't feel like having a bunch of people over. A couple of times over the 20+ years that my wife and I have been together, we had ordered Thanksgiving meals from Bob Evans, and Cracker Barrel and we're disappointed. We received a flier on our bag when we ordered take out from Ramsey's and decided to order from them this year. The meal was absolutely perfect. The taste of all the food was amazing, and the turkey slices were so tender and juicy. I told my wife several times while eating how good all the food was and she agreed. We ordered the 4 person meal and I think we could have served 8 people because we ate on this meal the next two days for lunch and supper. I highly recommend Ramsey's for your Thanksgiving meal next year and we will definitely order this meal again. If they have this meals for Christmas this year, we have already decided that this is what we will be have. Thank you Ramsey's!!!

What is the difference between southern style, fried, and Cajun catfish?

Southern style and Cajun style catfish are both deep fried. The southern style catfish will be breaded in corn meal and our Cajun style catfish will be breaded in our Cajun seasoned flour!

We sat right in front of the fireplace which was very nice, the place was pretty big and well decorated; it is a new place so everything was neat. I unfortunately did not get to use the restrooms as the server suggested, but he claims they're nice! I ordered the buffalo chicken dip and it was very delicious to be honest; then I got the mushroom Swiss burger which was also great, the portion was good; I got one of their cocktails, it had the ingredients of a pina colada but not a pina colada... that was a 1/10 for me. The drink was very strong and it felt like we were drinking a straight up shot of rum. The dessert was AMAZING though; I got the Oreo brookie and it was just delicious, great portion as well. I'd definitely come back here for a burger and desserts, I'd give this place a 9/10!

Located near Fayette Mall, this isn't just another themed restaurant; it is a meticulously crafted homage to 1920s Americana that feels as authentic as a vintage Model T. From the moment you pull up to the "service station" exterior, the attention to detail is staggering. The interior is a gearhead's dream--vintage Ford vehicles are suspended over the central bar, and the air hums with a lively, communal energy. The "garage" commitment extends to the smallest details: napkins are thick, blue shop towels; the servers sport mechanic shirts; and even the bathroom sinks are cleverly fashioned from tires and fuel pump nozzles. It's immersive without being kitschy, creating a vibe that is both family-friendly and sophisticated enough for a casual date night. While the décor draws you in, the kitchen keeps you in your seat. The menu is anchored by their Burgers of Fame, a clever lineup of Black Angus beef creations. The Model "A": A standout choice. The half-pound prime burger is juicy and flavorful, but the real magic is the combination of a perfectly fried egg, sharp cheddar, and a bacon jam that provides a smoky, sweet finish. Every bun is branded with the Ford's logo--a touch of flair that makes the plate "Instagram-ready" before you even take a bite. You cannot visit without ordering the Jumbo Piston Onion Rings. They arrive stacked high on a vertical rod, encased in a thick, golden batter that provides a satisfying crunch without being overly greasy. If you aren't in the mood for a burger, the Pulled Pork Mac N' Cheese is a soul-warming alternative. The cheese blend is exceptionally creamy, providing a sharp contrast to the tender, bourbon-BBQ-slathered pork. For a lighter (but still flavorful) start, the Firestone Shrimp--tossed in a spicy "boom boom" sauce--offers a bright, zesty kick that wakes up the palate No visit is complete without a "Sweet Ride." Their Old-Fashioned Milkshakes are thick enough to require a spoon and come with the classic whipped cream and cherry topper. If you're sharing, the Funnel Fries (dusted with powdered sugar and served with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces) are a whimsical, carnival-inspired end to a hearty meal. They don't just have a great kitchen; their craft beer list is one of the most comprehensive in the area. Ask your server for a local Kentucky brew to pair with your burger! Ford's Garage has successfully accelerated into the Lexington food scene by proving that a "themed" restaurant can still prioritize culinary quality. The service is efficient and friendly--much like a well-tuned engine--and the prices are fair for the portion sizes and the level of immersion. Whether you're a lifelong car enthusiast or just someone in search of a top-tier burger and a craft beer, this spot is firing on all cylinders.

The ambiance is the perfect blend of modern sophistication and warm, cozy comfort--you really have to see (and feel) it for yourself. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Every server we encountered was polished, deeply knowledgeable about the menu, and full of spot-on recommendations. We were especially fortunate to have Richard--a manager of the restaurant personally greet us and set the tone for the evening. From the moment we walked in, his genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel like honored guests rather than just another table. The food was nothing short of spectacular. The Maui ribeye steak--marinated to perfection and cooked exactly as ordered--was tender, juicy, and bursting with that signature sweet-savory island flavor--was one of the best steaks any of us have ever had. Equally impressive was the ahi tuna salad: beautifully seared rare tuna slices over crisp greens, drizzled with just the right amount of citrus-soy vinaigrette, and finished with crunchy wontons and avocado. Light yet completely satisfying, it was the ideal contrast to the richness of the steak. Everything about the evening--the atmosphere, the impeccable service led by Richard, and the flawless execution of dishes like the Maui steak and ahi tuna salad--made our double celebration feel truly special. We left already planning our next visit. J. Alexander's didn't just meet expectations; it exceeded them in every possible way.

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.

Be prepared to yell at your table partner. Between the amount of people talking loudly (I assume to attempt to talk over the loud music) and the music, and being seated really near other people, having a conversation was difficult. So don't go with anyone who is hard of hearing with background noise (my husband lol). Food took a little longer than what I'd prefer to come out.
