This has always been my go to for visitors - a great local example of southern food with good options for everyone. Let me start by saying that the service is, and has always been, fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. Unforntutely, the food has changed. Bland, bland, bland. It is like the land that seasoning forgot. Fully appreciate limiting salt but that does not mean that we have to eliminate depth of flavor across the board. The breading was completely void of any flavor and every veggie side was just plain boring. There is just only so much you can do at the table with salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Food is good, but the atmosphere is less than to be desired. Very little lighting and the seating was incredibly uncomfortable, especially for someone like me who has screws placed in their hip and pelvis, zero cushioning on the hard wood seats. Needed a Motrin after leaving the building. As for the food itself it was quite tasty, and service was friendly, though I found the prices to be a little high, though it is homemade and tasted fresh, so depending on how you look at it, does make up for the price in some aspects. We loved this place! We started our meal by having milkshakes. When we ordered them, our waitress mentioned that each shake had 8 scoops of ice cream in it! They were excellent! For our entree, we ordered a fried chicken platter to share. Each of us had a breast & we shared the 3 sides. The chicken was delicious. For one of our sides we ordered the corn oysters, which were sort of like flat corn fritters & were very good. For another side we ordered deep fried corn on the cob, which my husband gobbled down. This is a country restaurant... the first time I ate here I was 7 (57 years old now) with my granddad. Sitting at the bar (at 7) eating pimento cheese sandwiches and bagged chips. At that time it was the last store going out of town. 2 gas pumps, country store staples and they had a full bar with sandwiches, homemade soups ect. I fondly remember watching granddad smoking Kent's, and drinking curry sark( not his brand but what they had) with this in mind I stopped in today. The food was comforting and the beer was cold. I had the hot brown, An open faced turkey ham sandwich with tomato covered in bechemel sauce and topped with cheddar cheese and bacon. It was exactly what I needed on a cold rainy day. Staff was nice and attentive. They have an excellent selection of pies with meringue to stunning levels. I didn't have pie today but yeah it's pie. The best place to go if you love vegetables. They have a variety I've never seen before. And their prices are very reasonable.

Ramsey's is a perfect spot for casual, fun dining. The location is easy to access and offers lots of parking. The fare is anything from chicken livers to burgers and though prices are moderately high the portions are generous and well worth the asking price. Save room for pie, Ramsey's has a huge selection of perfect pies for dessert. This is a regular dining spot for me, I often take visiting friends and family to Ramsey's because I know we will enjoy a friendly atmosphere, great service and awesome food. read more

A really excellent spot for some classic southern food! This was my first time at Ramsey's and it was really nice. The service was friendly and efficient, even during a Friday rush! The inside is quaint and simple, and the food was flavorful and well prepared! We enjoyed our meals a lot - the buffalo fried chicken was zippy and had a great crunch! My fiancé ordered the Cajun catfish and loved it as well, his sides were also well made and super tasty! Ramsey's was absolutely slammed when we opted to go there for dinner. I got the Meat & 3 option. I chose beef filet, okra, mac n' cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. For as much as people love this place I'm afraid it didn't do much for me. The meat cuts were fantastic but I found the side dishes to be bland. The food used to be above the norm but I'm afraid it's slipping. We've been customers for as long as I can remember. We've visited all locations at one time or another. Our fav is Hamburg! Our original fav was downtown before it closed years ago. The food and service is having a hard time. I've been ill since Jan. 24' and order take out 5-7!days a week. Ramsey's was on the list, but the last two times I've ordered I got more than I bargained for. I liked the chicken and dumplings but I had to pick out bones and cartilage from the soup. Not appetizing!! Plus I've been asking for and receiving a small container of just the broth or soup ? until the last two times as well. The soup they send is dry. I don't want just dough. So my view of this restaurant is in jeopardy. Not sure it's worth trying again. I hate that! read more

The service was the only good thing about this restaurant; my waitress was an absolute angel sent from heaven. She was the only thing that made this meal bearable. When my food got to the table, it was overcooked, and my burger tasted like char. The dining room was nice and cool, but there was a smell of mildew at the window I was sitting next to. Maybe this was a circumstantial thing, but I wouldn't give this place a try. Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in the Lexington area. A wide variety of menu items to please the pickiest eaters. The fried green tomatoes are amazing. Perhaps the best that I have ever had. Served with cocktail sauce (which I thought was a little weird until I tried it). My go-to favorite is their Kentucky Hot Brown. I am quite the connoisseur of hot browns and this is one of the best! Generous amounts of turkey and country ham. A plate full of deliciousness! My wife had the Catfish which was a huge serving of Catfish filet, hush puppies and 2 sides of your choice. No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. For dessert, we had their coconut cream pie. Oh my gosh! This pie is to die for! Always a favorite, and the Hot Brown did NOT disappoint; it was as good as I remembered it from several years ago. But the pie on the other hand, was not up to par. We took home the coconut cream and butterscotch, but when we tried them, they tasted like too much flour had been added. I couldn't finish the butterscotch. I was told that I HAVE to get a Hot Brown in Kentucky and HAVE to go to Ramsey's in Lexington! I sat at the bar and really wish I had gotten the bartender's name because she was so sweet and nice. I learned a Hot Brown has ham, bacon and turkey which means modifications when you don't eat pork. I went with the vegetarian version with turkey which was so good I even liked the zucchini which like never happens. I asked why it's called a Hot Brown since it's more white than brown and learned the dish was created at the Brown Hotel (that makes sense). They also have great fries And I ordered a Black Bottom Banana Pie. It was really flavorful but a bit dry, the portion size is really big so it became bfast the next day. read more

I had the Hot Mari, which was basically a French Dip. It was good. A friend had the Hot Brown, which was very good, unique and large enough to feed two. In fact, he and his wife shared it and still had some to pass around so the table could try. The reason I might rate lower is because of the atmosphere. We were seated in the "patio", which felt like a church revival tent. The drink machine and service stand were all out in the open. The interior didn't seem a lot nicer as we walked through. Ramsey's fit the bill for an affordable southern style dinner. We had the fried chicken breasts with three sides (mashed potatoes, kale greens, and fried okra) and the veggie plate where you pick four sides (sautéed spinach, okra/corn/tomatoes, fried green tomatoes, and green beans). The fried chicken was boneless and juicy, but a bit bland and could've used more seasoning. Fried green tomatoes were a tad sweet which was surprisingly good (and I'm not a fan of sweet food unless it's dessert). Fried okra was good as well. Veggie plate came with cornbread which was dry and over baked. On the table is a delicious and addicting condiment: vinegar in a clear plastic squeeze bottle with a jalapeño. It paired great with fried chicken, kale greens, and just about everything we had. Overall, a good place for southern food with no frills. read more

I have always been satisfied until the last visit on Sunday. First of all, we sat at table after being seated for 15 minutes waiting on our waitress. Then we finally received our Luke warm food. We asked for some hot fries because they were not even warm. Then we never received a refill for our drinks. Here is what got me, the big black hair that was on my food. The manager took my meal off, I almost puked in the floor and now I wished I hadn't held it back after the attitude that the waitress gave us! Stopped here a few nights ago while traveling. Excellent service and food. The catfish I had was awesome, came with veggies that I don't remember what I got but they were good and really good coleslaw. I've eaten at two of the other locations in town and everything was good at both locations. At this one, we ordered two different meals and they were both bland. The waitress was not very personable to us. The salad is a joke, it is just lettuce with a few little carrots in it. If you you want the salad to actually have stuff in it, you have to pay an additional $3.50. My stomach was messed up for two days after eating at this location. read more

New place to try right down the road from Amber's sisters. The food was amazing and you can twll home cooked. I tried a petite hot brown and side of Mac and cheese. The food was legit homemade. The fried okra you can tell was shaken in a bag of flowrr/salt/pepper and then fried like grandmother cooked it. Mac and cheese was made with real cheeae,, not processed like Velveeta. The grilled yogurt chicken was very tender with oodles of flavor. Had my first Hot Brown and it was yummy and cheesy... I love cheese. The combo pie (peanut butter and fudge brownie is a must try.
