Love the down home cooking. We enjoyed the four veggie plate dinner. It was wonderful.

Went there early on a Thursday to beat the lunch crowds..., we ordered the fried chicken salad and the Cajun blackened fish with creamed corn n honey mustard carrots as main items. Both were huge servings! Good taste though the creamed corn was a bit too mashed. For starters, we tried their famous fried green tomatoes... they were the best!!! For dessert, we shared a huge slice of chocolate brownie pie with vanilla ice cream.. was yummylicious! Service was fast n very friendly. Pretty economical bill. So why the 4 stars? Well, there was this musky stake smell inside, which is always present when you have carpets Also, the crockery could've been better washed. Not bad though.. I'll definitely be trying out the other branches. read more

We have been to Ramsey's many times since it opened the new location off Leestown Rd. We have yet to have something we don't like. Pie, drinks, breakfast, dinner; it's all been lovely. It's a place we enjoy going again and again. read more

After probably 100 amazing meals at Ramsey's, they left me hanging yesterday. Took friends in town from Denver there for a hot brown. Unacceptably slow service and they kept seating people. We arrived at 12:45 pm, sat at a table at 1.07 pm and food arrived at 2:15 pm. This was the case for all tables - not just ours. When the food arrived it was as good as always. They need to step back and figure out what has happened. They have always been able to handle large crowds quickly. I was embarrassed to have brought our out of town guests here. read more

My wheelchair-bound partner and I went into a busy Ramsey's last Friday night. Just after getting seated and ordering, my partner passed out from low blood pressure and I had to race to get him back into the car and home safe. We almost had to leave our food and drinks as we raced out of the restaurant. Jordan, the manager, was able to bring the take out meals to the car and then was gracious enough to comp them! Was looking for some pinto beans and corn bread! Went to Ramey's around 1:30 thinking we would wait for lunch rush to be over, and over it was! We were promptly seated and waited about 10 min for someone to come take our order while the servers were all gathered around chatting my husband discouraged me from flagging them down. Husband ordered pinto beans and salad (bag lettuce was a disappointment) I ordered soup beans, our soup was out in a matter of minutes, however they were not hot and barely warm! What a disappointment and would've let our server known if she had bothered to come ask or see if we needed anything else. Eventually she came by and I let her know and she offered to bring another bowl, but I didn't want them by then. So going to need to find another establishment to satisfy a soup beans and corn bread craving! May need to hit the road for Eastern Kentucky. read more

Ramsey's serves up great down home comfort food and more! We arrived early and the hostess greeted us warmly. There was only a couple of parties dining upon our arrival, but within 20 minutes the main dining area was full and the enclosed outside area was filling up rapidly! Ramsey's breakfast foods are sensational! Their omelets are crazy delicious and huge! All of the entrees at Ramsey's are huge, and the entrees that I've had were all delicious! I "constructed" my omelette with my favorite ingredients and added freshly cut jalapeños for a little kick! My daughter goes for The Traditional Ramsey's Breakfast which delivers five, yes count them, 5 eggs and the trimmings for only $9.95!! I was unable to finish my entire meal, but it was fun trying to do so! Our server Kira was awesome! Kira kept our beverages filled to the brim, and nothing left to be desired as we enjoyed our meals! I always have a great experience at Ramsey's. The food is great down home cooking, and it's paired with reasonable prices and friendly staff. I usually get a Veggie Plate, but I've never been dissatisfied with anything I order. I'm especially fond of the honey mustard carrots & fried green tomatoes. Great selection of Missy's Pies for desserts. This particular location is probably my favorite, as they are so kind when I come with my dementia residents. They are also the first restaurant in Lexington chosen to host a Dementia Friendly restaurant night. LOVE Ramsey's! read more

The fried banana peppers were the highlight. Those things are good. They come with cocktail sauce but we got ranch. The hot brown was okay. Mine didn't have a lot of meat under the cheese, and the toast was a little burnt. My wife really liked the Mac and cheese. read more

Meh- Overall, I wasn't impressed at Ramsey's. It is a cross between Cracker Barrel & an aged 80's bar. This restaurant could use a makeover. We were seated at a booth in the bar area. The entire time, staff gathered at the end of the bar. A man came in for a beer and waited a solid 10 minutes before staff acknowledged him. It made me uncomfortable seeing this man being ignored with 5 staff members cutting up 10 feet away. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. We ordered a Ruben and the Kentucky Hot Brown. I did appreciate all of the choices for sides. The pies sounded wonderful but we didn't order due to the lack of service. Both us agreed that it would have been better to have gone somewhere else. read more

Ordered take out and the process was super easy. After calling in the order, we were able to simply swing through the drive thru and get the food. The flavor was there on both the dumplings and the fried buffalo chicken sandwich. Really good "home cooking" kinda food. I did find the cornbread to be overly dry but aside from that the food was tasty. read more

After living in Lexington for several years I can't believe last week was the first time I tried Ramsey's, A Lexington tradition! Everyone told me it was great. I'm not much on southern food, not a big fan of fried stuff, but they have plenty of grilled options and the menu really did sound good. The deal here is a meat and 3 sides. You can order sandwiches and salads too but from the looks of everyone's table, most people get the meat and sides. (Though the buffalo chicken salad looks amazing) I got chicken livers (I LOVE them - even fried) and the portion was quite big. My sides were kale, potato salad, Mac and cheese. I thought the sides were highly overrated. To me it was nothing more than hospital cafeteria stuff. The chicken livers were a little better, but I can get those at KFC too, for half the price. It was a pleasant dining experience, nice atmosphere and very family oriented. Nothing was wrong with the food, I just wasn't a big fan. read more

We visited Ramsey's while on vacation in Lexington and the Yelp Reviews did NOT disappoint! We all loved our meals. Each plate comes with a TON of food, so arrive hungry! I had the Hot Brown sandwich which is an open faced sandwich with turkey and ham and as you can see is topped with melted cheese and two strips of bacon. This sandwich was amazing! Wish I could find it in Texas cooked just this way. From the drinks, to the service and especially the food, this place is a gem. Try it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

There are many things I love about Ramseys. Summer offers "corn and 'mater days" which is when they have fresh corn and tomato items on the menu. Personally, I recommend the creamed corn, fried corn with bacon, the deep fried corn with parmesan, and the fried green tomatoes (have you noticed a theme yet?). I also order pie first or as I call it "appetizer pie". They are Missy ' s pies and they are crazy delicious. Butterscotch, peanut butter and brownie are some of my favories, but blueberry holds a special place in my heart. Now, there are some things I order here and some things I just don't. The hot brown is tasty. The fried chicken (boneless) is tasty. The meatloaf is ok, but there is better in town. I'm not a fan of the chicken and dumplings or the yogurt chicken or the mustard carrots. Most dinners come with these corn bread sticks that I usually toss aside. I find them to be dry and gritty, but I and generally not a fan of cornbread so this is no exception. The other thing I find to be weird is the gravy. I'm not a fan. Long story short, go here for comfort food that is not going to be very healthy. It's worth getting the pie. read more

Visiting Lexington and wanted a non-national chain restaurant for dinner. Ramsey's was a nice choice. Had the catfish with side selection. Catfish was moist and meaty. Nice breading. Mac and cheese was OK but nit something I would try again. Apple fritters were amazing! Friend had steak and eggs. It must have been good because he ate every bit of it. Had a slight issue but it was handled quickly and professionally. Very sweet staff. read more

Came here 4 months ago for a co-workers retirement party and we reserved the patio area. It was cold outside but the patio was closed off and it was warm and comfortable and cozy. The service was a bit slow, but I felt like it was forgivable, being that it was busy inside the restaurant and we had a number of people that showed up. The servers were able to accommodate some of the requests the some of the guests had since they had to go to work before the party ended. The food was good, the fish was cooked great but was a bit bland. The sides were very good. The fried okra was just how I like it and that corn muffin, I could eat more of those! I did order from Ramsey's more recently with the pandemic going on and ordered a different dish, their Hot Brown! And OMGEE! Now I understand why it's so popular. I will def come back and eat here again and order that Hot Brown again and definitely try one one their pies. read more

What a great find! We enjoyed a delicious lunch while stopping in Lexington on a recent road trip. The menu is amazing. It was hard to pick. Hubby had the beans and cornbread and said they were delish. They served homemade blue cheese dressing with his salad. I had the lemon yogurt grilled chicken sandwich. Excellent. Tried the Hot Brown. Very disappointed. Hadn't had one before. The waitress told me what it was but still had a thought it would be Turkey and ham off the bone. Nope - just your run of the mill thin (very thin) sliced turkey and ham lunch meet smothered in a bland gravy, covered in a ton of cheddar cheese with a couple slices of fresh tomatoes and two slices of bacon. First time visiting Lexignton, and was craving some Catfish. I was in a rush and got a Catfish sandwich and the side I had was Tomatoes with Cottage Cheese. That was a first for me as well. The catfish sandwich was so good the bun it came on was even better buttery and soft! The kosher pickle with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions was amazing! Ramsey's has been our family's default "feel good" restaurant for a long time, and is the place we always end up when nobody can agree on where they want to eat. We've gone there for Mother's Day numerous times, birthdays, graduations, and other important events, and always leave satisfied with the food and the service. Although we typically go to the original Harrodsburg Rd. location, and occasionally Man O' War, this was the first time we had eaten at the Nicholasville Rd./Zandale location, and were pleasantly impressed that the food and service were just as excellent as the other locations we frequent. I typically order the fried banana peppers & a beer with a shot of Bourbon, but I wasn't feeling it this time so we declined an appetizer and I just had a sweet tea. My mom always gets the meatloaf sandwich, and I always get the reuben, and both were exactly as we expected which is why those are our go-to selections. My dad had the barley vegetable soup of the day, and the boys had a cheeseburger and chicken tenders respectively. The service was mediocre, and it looked like maybe our waitress was a little overwhelmed, but after waiting a little while with no attention after being seated (and this was after a 30-minute wait), the hostess took our drink order and saved the day. She stepped in right on time as we were all getting a little antsy, so good on her for noticing and taking care of us. The bathroom was out of soap, which made me wonder how clean people's hands were, and the tables were a little close to each other so I can't really say they were spacing appropriately, but everything else about the place was clean, modern, and well organized. The food took a little while to get to us, but not disproportionately so, and they were clearly busy. Having a hungry tweenager moaning about how long things were taking didn't help, and certainly wasn't their fault, but it did make us regret not getting an appetizer. The food was excellent, and we all dove in like hungry beasts. My oldest polished off his cheeseburger with a side of mac & cheese and was still hungry so we ordered him a side plate of fries and a slice of pie. Our little one didn't want pie at first but later changed his mind, and the waitress was kind enough to run our bill again since it looked like we were done but then added on. The hostess also swept in at one point and got our drinks refilled since our waitress was busy, and I really appreciated her taking care of us and noticing our glasses were empty. Seriously minor, circumstantial complaints, and overall the quality of the food and ambience made up for it; exactly as we've come to expect from Ramsey's, no matter which location, and why we keep coming back. The whole family waddled out, literally stuffed, and satisfied. That always makes it worth it. [addendum] If you've never eaten here before, definitely take advantage of local growing seasons, like tomatoes & corn, as Ramsey's is famous for sourcing local produce and always providing a rich variety of fresh vegetables during peak seasons. Also, if you go, always get the pie. "Missy's Pies" is the perfect companion to Ramsey's excellent menu. read more

Amazing food! Amazing service! I would give 10 stars if it was a possibility. The fried chicken and the Cajun fried fish were great.

I really wish there was a way to give 4.5 stars. My husband and I came here tonight for the first time and were extremely happy with our food and the service. We both got meat and threes and were impressed by the portion sizes and the food quality. He loved the red sauce for the pork chops and the yellow squash and onions. My catfish was wonderfully cooked and I absolutely loved the hush puppies. I wasn't the biggest fan of the corn oysters but I think that's mainly because I tried the hush puppies first. Will definitely be back. We took two pieces of pie to go and hope they are as delicious as they look. read more

I'm an avid reviewer for both excellent and sub par service/quality/experience and sadly this one comes with negative feedback (despite always having been a huge fan of Ramsey's.) "Corn Days and 'Maters Too" came as quite the disappointment.. 2 orders of well-done fried green tomatoes, 2 deep fried Parmesan-crusted corn on the cobs, tomatoes and cottage cheese, pork chops and blackened catfish (all sounds delicious, right?)..... well.... we never had a bite of food. After a significant wait time, the waitress delivered the message that Ramsey's was out of corn on the Cobb and fried green tomatoes. Wait... what? The Ramsey's in the same shopping center as a Kroger is out of corn and green tomatoes.... On a Thursday night at 8pm during "corn and 'mater" days? No chance Ramsey's, and bad form. What a sad experience for a local business that I have always loved. read more

The food, as always at Ramsey's was very good for the style. Being seated in the cold patio room surrounded by screaming children, when there were plenty of open tables inside was not the best. It is difficult to enjoy your food when you can't take off your coat, or have to shiver. Also it was not fun waiting for ten minutes around the bathroom because you are about to eat and need to wash your hands, but the soap dispenser was not working. Then the manager acted annoyed when he fixed it, and the only paper towels were sitting on the wet counter soaking up sink water like a sponge. The food is good, but maybe some more attention to the customer experience would make this place even better. read more

I love breakfast, so the fact that they serve breakfast all day makes me happy!! Cool staff, fast service, delicious food! A great menu variety and pies galore! My favorite breakfast is simply bacon eggs and toast. Very tasty!
