Our food was dry. Nothing juicy or succulent about any of the meat we ordered. Shame because we used his father's day gift card to eat here. Burnt ends should not be dry. While it's true they have a dark, caramelized "bark" on the outside, the interior should be tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth. The meat we received was both tough and dry, and were likely overcooked or reconstituted from yesterday and reheated. Or they may have been made from a cut that didn't have enough fat in the first place. Either way, Sonny's has shamed the name of American barbecue. The baked potato was adequate and very well baked. The garlic toast was nothing to talk about as it tasted like and appeared to be Texas toast from the supermarket frozen bread aisle. Good but nothing to brag about. The corn nuggets were "meh" not terrible but very forgettable. The ribs were not great but were the best thing we had on the plate. The brisket was barely edible when drowned in sauce and thank God we got it chopped else who knows how difficult it would have been to bite. Terry Black's you are not. When I found out that I was going to Kentucky for training I knew I wanted barbecue. I Went to Sonny's twice while I was in Kentucky and got the 2 meat special both times. Great BBQ, server was nice ( Ace on both visits ) a bit no nonsense which I enjoy, sometimes you just want your drink and food and to be left alone. he still checked on me but I was eating bbq and was fat and content. Very nice restaurant either brand new or remodeled, restroom was clean and tidy. I got ribs and pulled pork both times the second visit I got beans, mac n cheese and a grilled piece of Texas toast. A ridiculous amount of food for $15. I went to a "fancier" bbq spot later after I my classes and it was nowhere near as good and twice as expensive. So I called in an order for pick up but they didn't have it when I went. No issues though, they were super nice and it was pretty quick for them to pull it together for me (maybe 10-15min). The inside of the store was very clean, and the to-go area was kind of empty (not that many people around). More people were trickling in, so I can see how the parking lot could get busy or crowded. Food was delicious, corn nuggets are just yummy little bites of joy (if you like corn). We tried the sweet peach bbq chicken - the chicken was pretty good, but the sauce was very sweet, no peach taste. My wife and I come to this restaurant often. There is a lady that works there as a waitress who is extremely rude. Her name is Trina. It's so bad when we walk in and we see she is there we immediately ask for either Ace, April, and Emma. All who are amazing at there profession. I even heard being rude and totally degrading to a table next to us. She walked away and the woman said what in the world is wrong with that woman. Trina has zero people skills and is extremely rude and nasty. I don't understand why Sonny s would want Trina being pretty much the face of that restaurant. I had the most ridiculous, over the top, decadent dessert ever at Sonny's. The peach cobbler egg rolls are not even listed as a dessert on their website, they are listed as a special. I got these egg rolls as part of a to-go order and they were amazing!! These egg rolls reminded me of a funnel cake that oozed peach cobbler goodness. They come with a side of whipped cream you can dip them in. Looks like this is a limited time deal, so order you some before they run out. A group of 10 of us arrived around 12:15pm on a Sunday. We had about a 20-25 minute wait which is completely okay because they were short staffed. Our waitress was outstanding, I wish I could remember her name, it started with an A I think. Everyone's food came out perfectly and we didn't have to send anything back. The loaded tots appetizer with some added pulled pork is delicious, I did ask for extra queso for it. Our drinks stayed filled up the entire meal. Sonny's BBQ is a good restaurant to visit for good BBQ. My fiance and I are huge BBQ fans so we occasionally visit Sonny's to get our fix. This is a chain restaurant so the BBQ isn't the best I've ever had, but it is still very delicious. My typical go-to order is the sliced pork sandwich combo. It comes with sliced pork on garlic toast with a choice of a side and a drink. The side I always get is the sweet potato. My sandwich was very good and the pork was smoked wonderfully. My sweet potato was also cooked well, which is a huge compliment from me because I am very picky with how sweet potatoes are cooked. My fiance got the pork and ribs plate. He thoroughly enjoyed everything. He said the ribs and park were cook perfectly. We also ordered corn nuggets for an appetizer. They are a fav of ours! It's literally fried corn nuggets with powdered sugar on top. Definitely get these! Our server was amazing. I wish I could recall her name because she has been the best server we ever had here. She was attentive and literally working so hard the entire time we were there. This Sonny's location is tucked away so you may not notice it when driving past. Their parking is plenty and we've always gotten seated fairly quickly when we visit. Sonny's is also good for large groups since the dining area is spacious. The worst ribs ever. First bite bit the bone into with no force thought it was the meat. Then got an awful taste. I have cooked and ordered ribs from many places and never had this happen. Ok BBQ... not amazed by it. We had the redneck eggrolls for appetizer. I had the sonny's sampler. Ribs, pulled pork, chicken with two sides: sweet potato and fries. OMG YOU MUST HAVE THE REDNECK EGGROLLS !! If nothing else, have those... ridiculously good!! The ribs were quite good, I had the dry rub. The pulled pork was very good also. The chicken was not fully cooked and still you could see blood in it. I had the chicken replaced and the new chicken was even bloodier. At this point the manager came and asked me what the problem was and how he could fix it... he was very nice and helpful. I showed him the chicken and he proceeded to tell me that is the way it will look when the chicken is cooked in a smoker... unmmnn ok, i don't want bloody chicken anyway. Went here Saturday afternoon. So as I walked in and was greeted by the HOSTESS I felt the bad vibe from your hostess, She walked us a party of three through a half empty side of the dining room and sits tries to sit us between two other small tables. Which was a cramped space already and said she was sorry , I immediately asked to be sat in a booth and she moved us over to the half empty dining section she just walked us the Through.
