I don't know if our waitresses was new but she definitely needs more training. It took forever for her to come take our order and we were the only people there, 4 of us. First off, she didn't know the menu. Even after we pointed to what we wanted on the menu she asked questions that made it obvious she had no clue what we were talking about. Secondly, my friend and I ordered coffee and it was fine. At some point, I asked for another cup of coffee instead of refilling our existing cups she brought us two new cups of coffee. Thirdly, from the time we ordered our food until the time we got it was about 30 minutes. Also, we were eating BREAKFAST and she brought out dinner rolls. Not biscuits. Not cornbread. Not toast or cinnamon bread. Dinner rolls ‍ From the time we walked into the building until the time we left, it was about two hours. Yes, we sat at our table and talked for about 15 minutes after we ate, but the rest of the time was waiting for our order to be taken, waiting for food and refills. I totally understand if this waitresses knew, but they either needed to have someone working with her or train her.

Went during breakfast hours on a weekend day and thought it would be a lot busier than it was, as I had heard it was good. Our experience was not all that great. We both had something different and neither of us really liked our choice very well. I had the J Crew breakfast. 3 meats, eggs, hash browns, and biscuit. Bacon was way too done and brittle, country ham piece looked good but it was so tough it was even hard to cut, let alone chew, and was much too salty. The sausage - ummm, it was a round patty, but seriously unrecognizable, and almost black in color. I tried a small piece of it but nope, it was not even edible. I just thought how could they even feel good about serving this stuff. Hash browns were not even consistent. Some were crispy and good while another part of the pile were nearly raw and not cooked through at all. Even the biscuit fell flat because it was flat. Not a fluffy southern biscuit that i had hoped for. Wife's breakfast was similar and she wasn't able to finish it, nor was I which rarely happens. We love going out to breakfast and it's usually one of our favorite meals to eat out but this just didn't cut it. Maybe there was just a new cook that day or maybe he was having an off day but it really didn't check all the boxes for us sorry to say. A couple of high points however was the coffee was really good, and the service was great. We'll give it another try at some point but for now we're going to keep on exploring.

It's one reason I don't go out for breakfast ~ I can make a pretty good breakfast at home. No use paying someone to do something I can do. So, going into Jackson's restaurant, a mom and pop restaurant specializing in home cooked style food, I had my doubts. Walking up to what resembled a school cafeteria lunch line only furthered my doubts. And, seeing the sheer number of different options sitting out behind the glass window only furthered my suspicions. Look, I was wrong. The food here is really good. The service is super friendly and helpful. I was so overwhelmed by all the choices I just told the lady behind the glass counter to pick me something. She obliged with a kindness that made me think she knew me somehow. She chose the chicken and dumplings, beef stew, apples, and two different types of corn bread. Now, I thought initially, and she even admitted, that the chicken and dumplings/beef stew mix was a little unorthodox, but that they were both so good I had to try them. Both were fantastic. The apples were awesome. I liked both types of corn bread. When I got up to leave, she called me over to the counter and said that since it was my first time there, I'd get a free dessert. You all, I was too full to even try. The food here is both tasty and filling. I was in Richmond for a conference at Eastern Kentucky University. So it was really convenient to stop by. My wife and I were pretty excited about a new experience and a fun lunch. The place was disappointing to say the least. The servers weren't really friendly or outgoing. The value was severely lacking- a reported 5 ounce burger (looked small) and literally about 10 crinkle cut fries, a 12 ounce drink served in styrofoam and a vanilla malt to go costs us about $50. I tried to say thank you to the server on my way out but she was busy having a loud conversation with another employee and didn't notice me. There is outdoor seating on picnic tables. The menu has a variety of sandwiches like cod fish and a fried bologna plate. But most of the menu was different burgers with cute names. The web said they served breakfast all day, there was no breakfast menu on the table and we didn't ask. All in all I'm glad I went to satisfy my curiosity but I would not seriously recommend this place to people visiting Frankfort. You would get a better deal and probably service at Hardee's.

The steak we ordered came out significantly undercooked and had to be sent back. Beyond that, the food overall lacked the depth of flavor and quality I was expecting. The presentation of each dish was beautiful, but the taste just felt off and did not match the visual appeal. The dessert cake was also disappointing, as it tasted dry and almost frozen. There were a couple of highlights. The Whiskey Sour was excellent and probably one of the best parts of the meal. The Mac and Cheese was also absolutely perfect and something I would happily order again. I do want to give credit to the staff because they were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional throughout the experience. They even offered us a gift card, which was very generous and encouraged us to give the restaurant another try. Unfortunately, we were still let down by the food on our return visit. I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The ambiance is fantastic, the staff is wonderful, and the presentation of the dishes is impressive. With a menu revamp and more attention to flavor and overall food quality, I think Carson's on Main could really thrive. For now, the food is what keeps me from giving it a higher rating.

Working was the owner at the grill, his wife on apps and plating, and one young man waiting tables and bussing. We overheard that their second waiter had called in that night--naturally your help calls in on your busiest nights. It is likely for this reason that the lady below left her unsavory review about the wait time. She was probably hungry and they probably had somebody call in, and they went to their show hungry so she took it out on this restaurant's page on Yelp. I'd say that blame falls on her lacking perspective more than this restaurant lacking quality. Some folks from the area may not be accustomed to food like this, and it may not hit them right. But folks who know good food will love this place, as we heard multiple other patrons raving about how good their food was. Ours was no exception. I got the three kabob shawarma platter which was excellent (though the "market price" for it ended up being an astounding $46. The idea must be to share it among two or three folks.) My wife really enjoyed her hummus with chopped up chicken shawarma and roasted almonds, just superb with the pita chips and pita bread served alongside. Y'all, the hummus is special here. The food options in Lancaster are limited. You've got your standard bbq spots, the little pasta place around the corner in the Lancaster square which I've reviewed separately, your token Mexican restaurant, and then your fast food chains. This spot is a real hole in the wall that outshines all of them when it comes to flavor, while putting on no airs. Just be prepared to sit back, wait patiently to be served, and maybe inquire as to what the "market price" is if you (like me) weren't intending to come away spending $75 after tip (having ordered waters to drink).

We heard the lady behind the counter fixing food yelling at the wait staff for the back up of orders. We asked about our appetizer two times when the staff came to check on us. We had been there over half an hour, and once we heard the lady tell them she would fix it but she never did. As we had plans to catch a show at Grand, we finally got up and left after sitting there for about an hour with no food coming out to us. Here is when the meal went south... when we go to order, we are told no chicken, no steak. Only real options are the chicken and dumplings, sloppy joe, hamburger, meatloaf, ham or fish. Any other beef dish, or chicken dish is not available ( think half the menu ). Had we of known, before the drinks and cornbread, we might have left, as we had driven an hour for brisket and fried chicken. It was extremely disappointing. I went with the chicken and dumplings, as I don't eat fish, or beef, and can't eat pork products. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes and was told the chicken and dumplings came on a bed of mash - nope, apparently it does not. Expecting mash, I ordered carrots... guess what the chicken and dumplings come with carrots! So I got a bunch of carrots, no mash. The others in my party ordered the sloppy joes and both said they were okay, but not what they drove an hour to eat. In my opinion a restaurant, that is closed on Monday, should not be out of half of their menu items on Tuesday. I'd there are delivery issues, they had all day Monday to come up with alternate items, source other foods, etc.. Our waitress rarely came around, never offered refills, or asked how our meals were. At the end, she messed up our tickets so many times, that we finally just paid. I am no longer in a hurry to go to Local Feed and it will not be a place I drive an hour, to eat. To say it has gone downhill, is an understatement. PS - we spent roughly $175 (3 women, with drinks)
