I ordered chicken alfredo at 11:00am, I was told it would be 20 to 30 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:35am, they didn't even start my food, so i waited until 12:15 to get my food. I thought when you order a salad- you wouldn't be charged over $9. Apparently the rest of the stuff wasn't ready and didn't start until a certain time, but still got charged the full amount. Since my parents moved to Winchester, I've pretty much tried everything that Winchester has to offer and I must say that this is my favorite. I wish the Lexington Giovanni's location was this good! I usually stick with the soup and salad bar, at $4.69 it's the best deal in central Kentucky. No, it's not one of those "you get what you pay for" experiences either. They have a ton of salad options to choose from and everything is always fresh. The dressings are tasty too! My parents' favorite option is cheese sticks. Super underpriced and the cheesiest cheese sticks I've ever had. Usually when I'm coming into Winchester to visit, I'll call them in an order and I swing by and pick it up. I've eaten at several Giovanni's, primarily in around Lexington, and normally have a great experience. However, the Winchester location has let me down. We were there on Sat. afternoon. Some of us got the buffet. We were there for about 45 minutes and they never put out fresh cheese sticks or bread sticks. The ones on there were already hard from sitting there so long. I normally love their sausage pizza, but this time it was luke warm and dried out. We had to ask them to put out fresh pizza. The spaghetti was all dried up and stuck to the sides of the pan. One member of our party ordered a cheesesteak, but it took them 30 minutes to get to our table, and they did not appear busy at all. It looked like they had plenty of workers. I counted eight people. There were nine patrons, which included use! I just don't understand. Very disappointed on this trip. read more

I get being short staffed so I am over looking the one server she did all she can and was working hard. Or the fact there was one sever while the owner sits on his behind never offering to lift a finger. I go to pay for my meal and I notice an employee in the back with no gloves dumping frozen garlic bread on a tray, no big deal she probably or I'd hoped washed her hands. She throws the bag away bending over with her hands in the trash can then proceeds to go back to arranging the bread WITHOUT WASHING her hands. I'm sorry but that's disgusting. I had placed a to go order when the sever asked if I got it yet. I tell her no and tell her what I observed. She rolls her eyes and says I'm being mean. HELLO I was not the one that contaminated who every food she was handling. I didn't tell, raise my voice and I'm being mean. GTF out of here. It will be a long time before I ever go back. Look folks, Giovanni's is not a fancy place. What it is is clean, friendly, fresh, quality, tasty, and excellently priced. The staff is always smiling and responsive. The salad bar is always fresh and clean. The food bar is always hot and tasty. The soups and chili are good. The pizza is not custom, but is good. Giovanni's is a small town pizza joint that can usually be found in smaller towns/cities. They have good sandwiches and great pizzas. I believe they have a buffet if you go inside to eat, but I usually get a to go order and take home. I would recommend this to anyone just passing through or locals for that matter. FYI their Extra Large pizza will barely fit in your fridge so beware. LOL read more

I went several times really wanting to like this place. Sadly the buffet is small and the pizza was stale and terrible! The pasta on the buffet was hours old in the small selection pasta overcooked noodles. The manager is not a working manager who is clueless to the many things wrong right under his nose! He is great at standing around ocupying space and not speaking yo anyone! I am forced to order from the limited menu to get anything halfway freshly made. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE We traveled to the area for a state wrestling tournament. After the tournament was over we stopped in Giovanni's to eat. It had a good crowd and it took about 7 mins to get seated. The waitress sat us, took our drink order and asked if we wanted the buffet bar. We said we would like to see menus and we received a look of disgust from her. She brought us our drinks and menus and didn't bother to come back to our table. We waited a good 20+ minutes while we watched her seat others and take their order which was the buffet bar. Guess if you don't want the buffet then I don't suggest that place at all! read more

I like this place. Clean, the outside looks kinda boring. It's a place i've went by a lot and never really caught my attention. Excellent portion sizes, you get your moneys worth. The specialty sauce is different and is what's in a lot of the menu items. I liked it. Have to wait anywhere from 15-20 mins, my first visit was 15 my second 20 when it was during lunch rush. The food is always good here, this review is a comical take on how they are currently handling Covid, as I get shuffled to a back corner booth, I get a clear view of the circus people getting seated back to back and booth to booth, they have a salad bar.. picture this a woman with a shield and gloves makes your salad while you and your two snot nosed kids point over the items on the bar at what you want .hmm, they bring you a plastic cup, I've experienced this in other restaurants, however when needing a refill I usually got a new cup full. Not here , the waitress who repeatedly told every patron how dang hot it was and continued to wipe her brow of sweat takes your plastic cup , stops at 3 other tables holding my cup chats about the latest gossip in Winchester and eventually returns with a fill up . Keep in mind the waitress is not wearing a mask nor gloves .. hmmm Dinner was great , as it always is. Go to pay and the sweet girl working the counter has enough protection on she's safe from chemical warfare. Even tho she's totally comfortable to slide the screen around for me to touch as everyone in and out has all day. I would put this restaurant up at the top of my list for restaurants. I think that they have one if not the best salad bar in town. It's very clean and neat and their food is delicious. I haven't ever had better Italian food than here. When I'm hungry for real food I go here for their soup beans and fried cornbread. Mmmm The corn bread sticks are delicious. read more

Recommend this place for their lunch buffet, servers are friendly and well experienced with dealing during a lunch rush. We came during the lunch buffet and seating area needs a re-design for better flow and space for large and small groups. It was tight squeezing to get from your table to the buffet and back not only for the customers and servers. Our booth table was knocked on a couple of times, thank goodness for paper cups. The food was hot, fresh and they keep the cleaning coming. We waited a bit (5 to 10 minutes) for our waters but the customers were coming in literally by the minute, so we understood that our server was trying to get to us as fast as she could. We was prompted with cleaning our table and providing more napkins without asking. I noticed the manager and owner helping out with seating and keeping an eye on the store during the lunch rush. I gave it a four stars for the seating issue and the food was good but what you usually expect from a pizza/pasta buffet. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm working in Winchester. The Food is cheap and decent quality for what you pay for it. The Lunch Buffett is open until 2:30 and is only 5.99 which is not bad for a full pizza Buffett. The owner is a decent guy but is more about money than he is the customer which is my only complaint. Overall I would give it a whirl if you are looking for somewhere like CiCis pizza. read more

Awful service, had buffet. When asked waitress when fresh pizza was going to be put on bar she said she'd check and never returned....neither did fresh pizza to the buffet bar.
