We came on a Saturday, for brunch. We ordered Hot Chicken & Waffles, Biscuits & Gravy, A Hot Brown, and a side of bacon, cheese grits, and a side salad. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of grits, in fact, I've never had grits I have enjoyed, until now. The texture and taste were perfect, and my kids even ate them up! The waffles were the right balance of crispy and soft, and the syrup, and sauces were fresh and favorable. I have 4 kids, and the service was very kid friendly, they were very thoughtful and foresaw needs before we even asked. This is our first time here, and it won't be our last. The location is quaint, the music is calm and soothing, and on this rainy day it was perfect. So, support your local establishments and come on in! We absolutely love our small town. And order to go from here a lot. We wanted our granddaughters to experience our hometown and it was her birthday so we chose to go here. I called for 3 hrs to make sure we could Get in because it is gave a Busy signal the whole time. So we took the chance and went down. Nobody was in there. We did choose to stay. But was so disappointed with the service. They had us put the tables together. Which is okay. Did not ask if we needed anything else to drink. And barely acknowledge that we were even there. Other people came in and they went to the table and talked to them again while walking right past us. We were very nice and polite and we didn't even make a fuss about anything that was going on, but I do not think that we'll go back on the inside to eat again. The first thing we noticed was the guy preparing the pizza had long black hair, not tied back, just flopping around and it was in his face. He kept slinging it back while he was preparing the pizzas. Hair net? Service was slow to say the least. They were not really busy, four tables at most, but it took forever to get out meal. Then finally when it did come, our daughters food came first and much later, nearly 10 minutes, our meal came. Normally, the meals should come at the same time, or at least, close together. My husband ordered unsweet tea, which ended up being nasty, sone designer tea with mango and passion fruit in it. They replaced it with water. We did ask for a refund and got it. My daughter ordered a BBQ chicken pizza. However, the sauce was also nasty, some kind of Ale 8 mess. They replaced it with a different pizza. First time here and as always excited to try something new. We ordered the meatballs for an appetizer (sorry forgot to get a picture). They were good, good portion with marinara and mozzarella on top. We both liked them. I ordered the taco pizza which I liked, I would have liked a little more meat but the taste was great! My husband ordered a pizza with Italian sausage and onion. He would have liked larger sausage chunks but said the flavor was great as well as the cheese. Cute place inside. Wonderful use of an old building. Smelled good when I walked in for our pick up. Ordered three pizzas and left with 4. They said one had a hole in it. I didn't see the hole. Took pizza back to our hotel for a paint party. Everyone was happy. I like that the crust was thin. Could have used more sauce and pepperoni. But still very good. I LOVE this place. I am not local, I have family in the area and request we go here when I'm in town. This time we had a huge to go order, and not only was everything exactly as ordered, no missing items, the lovely ladies working carried it all to my car as my husband was in the car with our newborn. (10 pies + salads) Obsessed with the salad, the tomato salad dressing is to die for. The pizza is creative and nails the cook every time. For about the first two years this restaurant was open, it was a staple in our Friday night rotation. Then it changed hands, and while the food was good, the staff was not nearly as friendly or energetic and would randomly close earlier than the posted hours. More than once an hour before closing time, someone would meet us at the door to say, "Sorry, we are closing early this evening!" It recently changed owners again and UGH! I'm done. Tonight my 8" brick oven pizza was delivered, stone cold, to the table. Mind you, the oven is a whole 25 feet from the front window where we were seated. COLD! Just no excuse. Sterling and used to come here all the time. the wood fired pizza has the best crust ever. they have lots of options and i hadn't been here in years so they had lots of new stuff i hadn't seen! they were playing bob ross and the whole place was cute. they don't serve you so cant really rate the service that much. they were nice but not friendly. overall i love it here. we got cheese sticks, the quattro formaggi with olives, a vanilla creme soda and a caesar salad. all was delish! that crust makes everything worth it! and the gorgonzola had that delicious bite on the cheesy pizza with the tangy olive, and to top it off with the refreshing creamy vanilla soda. perfect lunch! read more

Our orders for 4 of us came out one, then almost 10 minutes later 2 more, then when everyone was almost done the last one came out. The appetizer came out with the 2nd batch. There were at least 3 people working and we were the only ones there. I'd hate to see it if they were busy! The food was just ok, but not worth the price or time. Let me preface this review by saying that I don't feel good about writing it. I know this is a well-respected establishment in the local community, and in general I use Yelp to praise restaurants I enjoy rather than trashing those I don't. This is my first 1-star review, but I feel it is warranted. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the restaurant was an unidentifiable but unpleasant odor. Pizza places should smell like pizza, but this one smelled more like the locker room at a public pool. After some deliberation I ordered the "mushrooms of the woods" pizza which is topped with a couple different types of cheeses, plus asparagus, mushrooms and salami. It was listed as $11.99 on the menu. The cashier asked if that was all and I said "yes, I'll just drink water," which at most places is understood to mean I want tap water. My total was $14.29. I asked about it and she said "oh, that's just the tax." I was not informed that I was charged for a bottled water until I asked where I could fill my cup. Pretty misleading. This place claims to serve Neapolitan style pizza, but what I got was nothing remotely representative of Neapolitan. I didn't expect to feel like I was in Naples, but even Smashing Tomato in Lexington makes a pretty good rendition it. The crust was floppy and there was a mountain of cheese on it, to the point that I ended up tearing off and discarding half of it because I felt like I was eating a giant mass of mozzarella and ricotta. I have never taken cheese off a pizza before. The toppings were relatively tasteless and the salami was chopped into little squares like something you'd find in an elementary school cafeteria. There was no sauce on it, which was weird. I guess it's my fault for not noticing that particular pizza doesn't list sauce as an ingredient, but most places don't. At least my pizza was edible. My boyfriend ordered a meatball sub, per the cashier's recommendation, and his meatballs were burnt and rock hard. He offered me a bite and I actually spit it out into a napkin. I can't stand food waste, but this was hardly food. He said it was one of the worst meals of his life, which is surprising because apparently a few months back he came with a friend and they enjoyed it. He texted said friend after leaving and was informed the quality has gone downhill. Maybe I should have come a year ago. But I will not be back. read more

It had chopped Romain lettuce, red onions, feta, avocado, olives and the dressing that came with it and a piece of their signature bread. Small and cozy setting. Why haven't I heard of this place before now?! While out with the kids today, we decided to find a "sit down" location to eat. Our first choice was being remodeled and only had a drive up with a couple outdoor tables, not what we were in the mood for. The staff was really friendly and polite, and helpful to three newbies that had never been there before. We placed our order, found a table, and sat down. Our drinks were quickly served, along with two bowls of very nicely seasoned popcorn and crayons for the kids to draw on the pieces of paper that covered our table. When the food arrived, it looked and smelled AMAZING! Of course we all sampled what everyone ordered, and it all tasted great! I had their lunch special, the pizza was baked to perfection, and the half meatball sub was "sublime"! The kids ordered the Alfredo pasta and we all got a large order of cheesy bread to split. You know the old saying "we saved the best for last"? Well they certainly did....Bananas Foster Cheesecake and a Cookie Skillet Sundae....divine! We practically licked the plates it was so good! We talked with one of the owners and she told me they make all of their dough, sauce, etc. in-house and the banana topping for the cheesecake was made only after the order was placed for it!! First off, the location is in the older part of town which I had hoped for. Love the name, Tomatoes and Flames. Creative name, creative recipes, right? You walk in and the one wall is the old patina brick. Just beautiful. We ordered a Hawaiian Pizza and two root beer Italian sodas. Bill was $22. The sodas arrived first. There wasn't even a hint of root beer, they tasted like watered down whipped creme. So disappointing as I was looking forward to an authentic Italian soda. Maybe the pizza will be flavorful and fantastic? There's still hope, right? Not to be. The topping were minimal at best and the pizza was the size of a single serving pie. The "simple truth organic" pizzas on ultra thin crust are similar in size but more flavorful with many more toppings. Such a bummer. First and foremost I'm very glad to see new restaurants coming to downtown mount sterling. Secondly I'm glad it's not another one of those places that doesnt invests in decor. This place is very clean and new. The red brick on the walls brings a level of character that fits with the downtown vide. Anybody that knows me will say that I'm a brick oven pizza fanatic. It's just something about that crispy crust and quality ingredients that works for me. Unfortunately this visit didn't. The dough and crust was chewy and not crunchy. I ordered on the app and my order wasn't ready. I think my towering present and Yelp status made them rush my pizza I will visit again soon and update this review at that time. 8 of us stopped in on Saturday, based on reviews. Mount Sterling practically shuts down at 5pm and we had just checked into our hotel. We were immediately greeted by the staff who put 2 tables together for us to sit together. The food came out quickly and was better than I hoped for. Service was attentive and top notch.
