I've had the yellow and green curry both are super delish! My daughter always wants the chicken chow mein and I have no problem with it cause it's fresh, non-greasy and has tons of veggies in it. The chicken there is really good and lean too. I don't usually eat meat but I feel really good about their chicken. The hot and sour soup is great as well! Be very careful with your soups at Sutha cuisine I order the Tom Ka Kai Chicken Soup and surprise a long hair in the soup I reached out to them and the manager was very rude and said that there's nothing they could do because I had order it through yelp! I called just to inform them to be careful with the soup going out and again she responded with you have to get in contact with yelp! This is my spot, it has been my safe haven during my maternity leave. I absolutely love their yellow curry, it's hearty, warm, and just brings me so much joy. The delivery is top notch! Delivery guy knows I have a sleeping baby when I order so he knocks on my door softly, and that's just the nicest thing anyone could do for a mom with a new born, bless his heart. We returned to Sutha Thai after a long hiatus, and we had an excellent experience. Located in a long strip mall on Lakewood Boulevard, you're in for a culinary treat when visiting this small locale. The restaurant decor oddly enough is a mix of distinct thai pieces and miniature toy displays. Plus, part of the ceiling is carved out for a miniature train on tracks. Eclectic decor aside, give the authentic Thai food a try. We ordered 3 lunch specials, which include a soup/salad, an entree, rice and an egg roll. Our entree selections were beef pad thai, eggplant with tofu and orange chicken. All 3 dishes were solid. At $7.99 each, the lunch meals are generously priced. Plus, we received a heaping serving of silky mango sorbet, uniquely served in half a mango skin, for checking in on Yelp. We experienced excellent service during our visit, too. So....I am a really big fan of thai food. And i have tried many different styles of cooking....interesting styles even when its not to my liking....With that said, this place was very .......i cant seem to find the words...... I think the quality of the ingredients used was (hate to say it but) cheap which made the dishes suffer. The Thai tea tastes burnt. No joke, i saw another table who ordered it and it was not touched. Ordered the combination appetizer which consist of 3 wontons, 3 shrimps wraps, 2 egg rolls, 3 dumplings. The fried shrimp was greasy and not crispy. The egg rolls were too mushy in the middle...ummm...taste exactly like yoshinoya egg rolls...which kind of means the egg rolls are ordered from a vendor and not hand made. We ordered spicy basil with ground chicken...or should i say salty basil with onions and a dash of ground chicken on top...the fried rice with beef was "okay"...and lastly, the yellow curry with chicken...was watered down...and i mean watereddddddddd downnnnnn. No coconut milk was used...or maybe a drip of it was used to make it look like curry but the consistency of it was bad... Now, i disagree with some of the other reviewers regarding customer service. And thats why I gave this place an extra star. Our server was very nice and quick... I just want to say, im not fancy or bougie...i believe hole-in-the wall restaurants have the best food!! I ordered pick up at this restaurant, so that's all I'll be able to speak to. I called ahead of time and ordered the beef salad. I was told it would take around 20 minutes. The restaurant is located in a "strip mall" type of place, and when I went there was plenty of parking! My food was ready when I went to go pick it up. This place does not accept card on orders less than $10!!! Quite annoying, but luckily I had cash on me. The beef salad was okay. Not the best I've had, and I probably wouldn't get it from here again. Service during my quick visit was very kind. I may have had a different experience had I eaten in. First time ordering delivery. The thai place I used to go to rose their delivery prices from $15 to $18, so I though it was time to find a new place. Sutha was next on the list with free delivery and a minimum of $15 for orders. Delivery was fast! I ordered around 1:30PM, ETA said they'd be at my house by 2:30PM, they arrived at 2! Compared to the Thai place I used to go to, their food tastes a lot more authentic! I got the Pad Thai lunch, which comes with a side of rice and an egg roll, 5pc egg rolls and a Thai iced tea. Each & every time I've picked up my (to-go) orders, the staff gets a very poor attitude when I ask for extra hot sauce(s) in different varieties. They are super stingy and sneaky when I ask for specific condiments, they go behind the counter and take out other condiments, assuming you don't want them to only replace them with what I requested. This is an interesting place. We met with friends for lunch and they picked this Thai place. Let me just say, my son seem to love it here. There are toys EVERYWHERE. The toys are show cased on the walls, old school toys so it's not like he can play with it. There is a train overhead that goes around in circles. Basically, bring your kid here to enjoy an ipadless meal because your kid will be too busy looking at the train over head being mesmerized as it is going around in a tiny circle. The food is okay, it's nothing to special. They have lunch specials from 11am - 3pm I believe. Dinner specials are all day. We ordered a variety on entrees and each had own lunch special. We arrived late and my husband asked if they had a pad see ew, which the server said they did not. But what is this?? Our friend ordered one for a shared entree which arrived to our table which we thought they did not had~! The BBQ chicken was okay, it had a weird yellow orange color to it. I liked the wonton soup that you can opt for instead of the salad. It was quite tasty and excited my taste buds. The papaya salad is whatevers. It wasn't spicy or dank enough for me. I need it to seep out of my pores and reek of the fish sauce. Overall, this place is okay, I am not sure if there are other places nearby, but I would try to search for one. Let's face it. I hate this place now. I haven't been here in awhile, but I recently went to dinner with my mom and she suggested we go to Sutha. When we arrived there I simply thought they decided to remodel. McDonald's toys line the wall and there's a functioning train in the middle of the ceiling. Oh how I miss the traditional Thai decor! It was so much cozier, instead of the decor that's trying to appeal to children and hipsters?? I felt so distracted during dinner. At least they still kept the Sawatdee lady by the door, but I digress. As long as the food is good I can put up with bad decor. So on to the food! We ordered papaya salad (spicy), tom kha gai (coconut chicken soup) and red curry. Papaya salad came out as bland as ever, we returned it back to the server and kindly reminded her that we ordered it spicy. It came back out messily tossed up with chilies added, not re-made. However, it was spicy. Red curry came out next and it was unmemorable. Finally our soup came out, but the tom kha gai was just wrong. It was tart and I couldn't figure it out. My mom finally tasted it and immediately knew it was faulty. LOL. It was missing a key ingredient, the fish sauce!! So we added our own until it tasted normal, but upon closer inspection the soup was also missing mushrooms and they had added cabbage! Really guys? For $12 I most certainly think you can do better. I'm not just paying for some fancy flames at the bottom of my pot that last 2 minutes. On top of our sad food, service was slow and when we asked for containers the server asked if we wanted her to pack it so we agreed. Then she dropped off the containers at our table. Umm, didn't we just have this discussion? Anyway at this point I couldn't wait to leave, so I packed up our own food with foam containers that were large cup holders. Unfortunately, I will no longer be patronizing this business and I confirmed with the server that this place is no longer under the same management & apparently has a different chef. I bragged about Sutha Thai even as we were walking in! When we started to eat the meal I began to feel I was all wrong. I hate being wrong! Oh, the horror! As long as I remember Sutha Thai has had a personality crisis. They used to play Elvis. Then they switched to traditional Thai music. They had a New Age phase and now they are playing easy listening stuff. Their decorations were nice before. Regardless, they had really really ridiculously good Pad Thai and Red Curry before so I would come often. Now after months of not going they have made the place less quaint and attempted to make it trendy it seems. The floor is bare concrete and they have placed halogen lights on the ceiling to showcase pictures of menu items. Bizarrely enough they now have shelves on either side of the door to the kitchen with tons of toys. Star Wars, Disney Princesses, Furrbys, etc (?). Ooook.... Anyway, we ordered two dinner specials and Chicken Larb. Most of the dinner special items are actually Chinese food. I chose Chicken Satay and my boyfriend chose Orange Chicken. We both chose soup and rice to go with the main entree. The larb was good. Not my favorite dish though. First time I've had it. Seemed that they put too much lime on it. The soup was SMALL and it was Chinese wonton soup. Not cool! At least some sour soup please! The Satay had butter on it. I'm not sure if it is supposed to but they could at least have melted it fully. It looked strange in any case. The Chicken was very good but the peanut sauce was insipid at best. The Orange Chicken was very insipid too. The server was a nice pleasant woman who I have seen there many times before. Good, attentive and courteous service. She is all that remains of Sutha's better times. Now the ugly strip mall this place is in overwhelms it like never before. I'm not coming back. I do know I don't like Narai Thai. I guess I will have to try Sizzling Thai or South Pacific. Or maybe there just isn't good Thai in Downey. read more

My girlfriend and I walked in this place and I had told her that the food was decent and we were starving. We had been driving around all day and had not had time to eat. So we were really looking forward to a good meal. We step in the place and mind you I has not been there in over 1 year. To our discovery it appeared that we had walked into the 40 year old virgins bedroom. We were creeped our by all the weird toys. Ok, I like collecting stuff as well but they went overboard. I still didn't mind all that. Mind you we were HUNGRY!! As we waited over 1 minute to be seated, the waitress took is to our seat and sat us right next to an older couple. They seemed very sweet but we were uncomfortably too close and I can hear their plates clanking. "That's one of my pet peeves". We waited and waited some more. We spared them a few minutes and decided to walk out even before they asked is for any drinks. I won't be going back there any time soon unless they start offering some toys with happy meals.
