Came here for a long-awaited girls' night out, and it did not disappoint! The location is super convenient -- right next to the Hatton Parking Garage at the end of Santana Row near the theatre, so parking was easy to find (always a win on Santana Row!). Our waiter was fantastic -- incredibly attentive and checked back with us more than any other place we've been to, which we really appreciated. We ordered a sangria carafe to share and several small plates: * Empanada de Carne -- Very good, flavorful, and satisfying. * Croquetas de Pollo -- So good and creamy, easily one of the best dishes of the night. * Tiradito de Pulpo -- Sliced octopus with olive relish and avocado cream -- very fresh and delicious. * Puerco y Huevo "Bacon & Egg" -- Crispy pork belly with panko-crusted egg and cauliflower purée -- this one was just okay; we probably wouldn't order it again. * Paella de Mariscos -- Shrimp, mussels, squid, and aioli -- one of the best paellas we've had! Tons of seafood, and the aioli kept it moist (unlike the dry paellas we've had at other places). For dessert, we tried both the cheesecake and the chocolate tarte. The cheesecake was very good, but the chocolate tarte was disappointing -- we were expecting something rich and indulgent, but it tasted more like a diet dessert, so it didn't hit the mark. This place was perfect on a warm sunny evening. The ambiance and service were fantastic. They have a great assortment of cocktails (The Suspiro was fantastic!) Definitely order paella early. The ceviche, ribeye, ensalada (beets) were delicious. Unfortunately, the pulpo was overcooked so it came out very tough and the Fritos were also pretty tough. What made it better was the paella fideua that was perfectly cooked. It had squid and mussels that were tender and delicious. We came for Mother's Day brunch and it did not disappoint! We brought a dog so we did their patio dining, which was a cute and well decorated area. Unfortunately there is no sunlight that reaches those areas in the morning due to the overcast shade from nearby buildings, so it was quite chilly; however, they turned on heat lamps for us. Everything was well plated, and service was consistently friendly and attentive. Ceviche mixto: very fresh, somewhat small portion and more liquid and chips than actual seafood. But it tasted great. Tortilla de Patatas: well seasoned and simple but delicious, about the size of your hand. It was soft and flaky. French toast: yummy but nothing particularly uniquely good to write about Seafood paella: star of the meal! Generous portions with plenty of seafood, very saucy and flavorful. Everyone loved this dish and it was a good portion to share. We had some leftover paella to take home between the 6 of us after this meal. For appetizers, the fried squid rings were seasoned super nicely and fish ceviche was nice and acidic with tender fish. Was able to bring half of the paella home. - Ceviche Mixto: Really good. I've never had Peruvian ceviche and the leche de Tigre was something new I was able to try. It made the whole dish stand out so much more compared to regular ceviche. Make sure to get it with the taro chips. - Empanada de Carne: it was okay. We've never been to Suspiro so we tried to make reservations online first, however, no such thing. We arrived around 6:45 pm and it didn't look busy so we walked in. The hostess led us to a table for two next to the window facing the plaza. As soon as we sat down, water arrived as well as a small bowl of roasted corn nuts. Yum! Lucky C was our pleasant waiter. He was attentive and checked in with us every so often, making sure our water glass was full. We decide to try a paella dish (takes 30 min), beef empanadas (I enjoyed this) and salad. We love going to Teleferic and this didn't come close to it, but we enjoyed our dishes. The restaurant is nicely decorated. Their outdoor seating area is nicely done. First off, I want to shout out Brandon our server! Whoop Whoop! He was an awesome server and very attentive. We came here for our girlfriend's birthday. There were six of us and we made the reservation for 5pm. We all showed up on time and were seated right away. The place inside is very cute and had the perfect lighting for pictures. Absolutely Outstanding Experience We visited Suspiros to celebrate our Son's birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. From start to finish, everything was phenomenal. We began with the Rishi Jasmine Organic Green Tea, which was incredibly refreshing. The food was outstanding across the board. The Patas Bravas were flavorful and perfectly prepared, the ceviche was bright, fresh, and absolutely delicious, and the pork rib and chicken paella was rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor. Every dish was truly scrumptious. To make the celebration even more special, they surprised our Son with a bread pudding dessert covered with cranberry sauce and popcorn, which was such a thoughtful and unique touch and completely made his day. Our server, Kayla, was completely on point, attentive, warm, and incredibly accommodating, especially with our food allergies. The manager checked on us regularly, which added such a personal and caring element to the experience. The ambiance was beautiful and made for the perfect lunch spot before our stroll through Santana Row. The waiter was taking a while to grab our orders even though it was not busy and we were ready to order our food too. I like the complimentary Peruvian corn. The sangria and beer were so refreshing for a hot summer day. The food was average. The best thing was the ham cheese coquettes which are 6 pieces for $18. Probably the best thing we had the entire meal. The chicken ones weren't all that great. Chicken in the oven (pollo a la brasa) is just ok here. For $22, it was nothing spectacular. Ceviche Mixto - which came with white fish, shrimp, scallops, octopus, leche de tigre, Rocoto pepper is $31 which is an appetizer size. Been meaning to try Suspiro for a while, so decided to drop by for a quick lunch. Was very quiet on a weekday and pretty much empty and I was able to get seated immediately. The ambiance is really modern, spacious, and bright. I loved that the floor to ceiling windows could open up on a nice, warm day. After looking at their lunch menu, I went with the Lomo Saltado con Gnocchi- Beef tenderloin tips, potato gnocchi, snap peas, sweet soy emulsion ($29) and the Pan con Tomate- Toasted focaccia, Campari tomato, EVOO, sea salt ($10). My entree was delicious: the beef was so tender and the sauce was delicious. Gnocchi was bouncy and perfectly chewy. Loved the addition of the snap peas and onions with the dish, would maybe even ask for more veggies next time. Portion was a bit small for the price, but at least it tasted good. I didn't get to try the appetizer because as soon as I saw it, I sent it back. For $10, I didn't anticipate it to look like leftover toast with a dollop of tomato sauce. The shrimp were all very tender, and I loved the red onion throughout. Interesting concept, which could elevate to 5* if presented a little differently. - Causa de Congrejo y Camaron, $22 (3*) Like everything else, it was plated beautifully. It was difficult to eat without disassembling everything. The purple potatoes were vibrant but themselves could have used a little seasoning. The crab meat could have been better as lump rather than small shreds. The shrimp while billed as tempura didn't seem like tempura batter. Just fried. The overall bite, when I got a little bit of everything, was pretty good. - Pasta y Puerco, $26 (2*) Kind of a confusing dish. Probably shouldn't have ordered it in the first place. Bucatini in a Spanish/ Peruvian place... the meat itself became overcooked sitting in the hot pasta. They should have layered it on top or on the side. The flavors were a bit muddled from all the cream sauce. - Value (3*) There was enough food to feel full, but some portions felt a little light relative to price. - Final Word Mixed bag. Wife dressed super hot, and the ambiance fit her style, so just for that I might go back! Everything is beautiful to look at. It's quite sizable, nicely lit, and overall so much nicer in person. We sat at the bar and the gal who took care of us was fantastic. She was very helpful when inquiring about drinks and options on the menu. The food itself was pretty mediocre and not as fresh as I expected. We ordered the Patatas Bravas the Paella Fideuá Negra. I ate here around the same time last year and remember the food being pretty good enough to come back for. I booked a reservation in advance for my birthday dinner at 6:30pm on a Thursday night through Resy and specifically noted the occasion was a birthday when it prompted me. I was a little surprised to be seated at the very back-most table in the restaurant (which had MANY open tables at the time), right next to the restrooms and the entrance to their speakeasy. It was definitely not an ideal table placement for someone wanting to celebrate a birthday. There was so much foot traffic with people coming in and out of the restrooms and the speakeasy. There were so many tables open and it was a little disappointing to be seated there of all places. It definitely set the tone for the rest of the night. The hostess was not very warm and friendly and neither were the servers. We also didn't even have enough silverware at the table and had to take a set from a nearby table since we weren't really checked on super often. Not sure if they are still doing complimentary corn nuts, but we did not get those either unlike last time. We ordered the Causa de Cangrejo y Camarón because I really enjoyed those last time I came, but they were not as good as I remember this time around. The purple sweet potato cake was dry and crumbly this time. We also got the tomahawk for two which was really good and the only reason I'm giving this 1 star. Lastly, we got the paella negra, and that was really bland and felt like it was missing something. We tried to make it better by adding lemon but it still felt like it was missing something because there wasn't much flavor. To top it all off, we thought they were bringing us a free birthday dessert (since I mentioned it in the reservation), but I noticed they were bringing a whole boxed dessert from Cocola bakery and I was really confused. The server noticed the confusion on my face and said, "this is yours right?" And we were all super confused around the table and were like "....no?" Because I had no idea if it was something from them for my birthday or if it was a different table's dessert they had brought. The server replied, "oh, my manager said it was yours." He apologized and took it back and realized it was for a different table. He never came back around and offered any complimentary dessert lol. The birthday was actually never acknowledged all night, which I was only surprised about because the reservation asked if we were celebrating anything and I chose birthday. I've seen lots of reviews from this place and people saying they've received complimentary birthday desserts, a postcard, and amazing treatment on their birthday. So I'm pretty disappointed I didn't have the same experience today. Came to Suspiro again because I loved it so much last time, but today's visit was very disappointing. Ordered the salmon ceviche as an appetizer because our server highly recommended it - this was our first mistake. He described it as similar to salmon carpaccio or sashimi but the salmon had a fishy taste and had a strange texture. We definitely should have stuck to the ceviche de clasico. We also ordered the paella de mariscos again since this was our favorite dish last time. Unfortunately, the paella came out soggy and bland. The shrimp on top was mushy, indicating its lack of freshness. We were so surprised at the huge drop in quality in this dish between our first visit and this visit. Despite the misses with the food, the service was great - our server was friendly and made an effort to make our experience positive. He also took the paella back to the kitchen and had it cooked for 5 more minutes to make it a bit more crispy. Beautiful restaurant, but not sure I would come back again after today's disappointing experience. read more

Recently went to Suspiro to celebrate both an anniversary and birthday (same day) and could not have left happier nor more grateful for an amazing experience. The incredible staff went far above and beyond to make our celebration extra, extra special. Our waiter, Lucky, made us feel welcome and celebrated from the start. Complementary drinks and personalized menu recommendations led us down a path of culinary excellence complemented by exceptional service. We had been to Suspiro a handful of times prior to this, always having a good experience, but this was different. Every dish came out beyond expectation. I'm usually one to feed my phone first, and we only got one photo, only of the first course, because after tasting the first bite, we were transported to a place of no phones and only delicious flavor and fun. I can go on and on about the balance of textures and flavors of the beat Salad and the Bombas as well as rave about the deep umami flavor of the veggie paella. We tried the speakeasy only, so can't speak to the restaurant portion. Very cool space; a lot bigger than I pictured tbh, though still a dark, somewhat cozy vibe. They only have maybe one, two bartenders though (and this was on a Saturday night) so they do warn you on the drink menus that because these are craft cocktails, you'll have to wait awhile for your drinks. I'd recommend getting a reservation so you have a guaranteed spot upon arrival; makes it easy to checkin with the hostess at the restaurant and be escorted back. If you don't make a reservation, there may not be any availability. Overall, I would come back to try the place again. read more

This is honestly more of a 3.5 star review but bumped it up to four because of ambience vibes and access to Santana Row in the mall. The drinks are great. The food is decent, but dressed up fancy and overpriced. read more
