Latin Ninja

I distinctly remember the Sushirrito hype. I was in middle school when they first opened and on a field trip to the city, my friends and I got Sushirrito. It was a hit and became a lunch spot of choice anytime my friends and I went downtown as middle schoolers. To be honest, I haven't thought of Sushirrito in a while, but my companion suggested we go. He ordered ahead for us, which was efficient. The inside is on the smaller end with limited seating. Imagine a Chipotle or Subway, it's like that but for sushi burritos. Workers were efficient, which is granted as they're mainly a takeout spot catering for the downtown crowds. As a kid, I loved their Sumo Crunch! It was always considerately good. This go around, I got the Latin Ninja! I quite liked it. The creamy sauce was good, the salmon was buttery, and everything tasted great together. Companion had the Geisha's Kiss which was a unique combination of flavors. I liked his raw fish more but felt the pickled veggies and tamago provided a thrown-off taste and texture. I will say both burritos seem much smaller than they used to be. For the price, I'd expect more volume or higher quality. As a sushi and burrito lover, I'm a huge fan of Sushirrito's concept. It's good but not good enough to go out of your way. Regardless, it's a quiet bite that will fill you. Find the shop off Kearny Street with street and garage parking around.

I wish they'd open a sushirrito in another part of the City. Since I no longer work downtown I don't get there but once a year. Because of where it is, it is definitely a place you need to walk to for lunch as parking is super expensive. And stopping on busy Kearny St is near next to impossible. I don't normally give lunch places 5 stars, but just one bite into my Geisha's Kiss and the Sumo Crunch ( we split) and I was reminded of how much I love this concept. They have changed the packaging too. If you like sushi, This is a great lunch.

The first time I went here a year ago, I was going to give this place a 3 star, However, I went back today and the girls there are super nice! And I didn't see the sauce selections last visit , this time I got to try it with my burrito and it made a huge difference. From something that was alright , to something I'll probably have cravings for now . You can order ahead and pick up, but they were fast when I just walked in .but to be fair, no one was inside at the time I went, last visit, they were super busy with pick up and walk ins. Def worth a try if you haven't had sushi burrito, make sure you ask for sauces if you don't dine in. One extra sauce a burrito but .25 cents for extra which is also affordable and great! I did not drive here but I do see people just order ahead and stop at the front to run in and grab their order.

Panko Crusted Spam Musubi

We walked by this place while exploring the city and wanted to check it out. The place had small tables that fit about 15 people comfortably, and was clean and bright. Luckily, a staff member checked their inventory and we were able to get an order of the Panko Crusted Spam Musubi. We also included in our order a Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll, Sirimi Crab Hand Roll, and Sumo Crunch Burrito. Everything was delicious, especially the spam musubi.

Walked into the store and noticed the area inside is not too big. There are very little tables for sitting. Got myself an order of The Kim-rrito with the kabayaki beef with kimichurri choice. Received the order in a nicely designed box with the sushirito split in half. Took a bite into the sushirito and a good mix of flavors began entering my mouth. Soft texture from the kabayaki beef mix in with a nice mild spice sauce. Not overly powerful. Sadly everything is cold even the beef. A warmed up sushirito would definitely warm my belly up. Overal, sushirito is good, but just small in quantity.

Sushirrito has been around SF for a while! But ever since the pandemic I feel like their prices went up and burritos got smaller - classic shrinkflaton in the Bay Area. Bring back big burritos!!!! None the less - their quality is still good and the uniqueness of their flavors are unmatched! My favorite is the Latin Ninja - perfect fish to crunch ratio! Confusing statement, I know. We always order ahead and pick our order to go. We have never had a problem with our order not being done on time. I don't see a lot of patrons eating there - the ambiance is more like a fast lunch spot!

I used to frequent sushiritto in high school so i've been craving it for a while and had to get it while I was back in the city. I ordered online and got my order super quick. It was my first time getting the geishas kiss, I usually get the one with crispy chicken. It was yummy but not as good as I remember It was nicely packaged to go and cut in half which i appreciated since I was sharing with my sister.

Review based on delivery via Postmates: * Sumo crunch sushirrito - Shrimp Tempura, Surimi Crab, Cucumbers, Red Tempura Flakes, Spicy Aioli, Avocado Spread, Sushi Rice & Sushirrito Nori for $16. this is my go to sushirrito! * spicy tuna hand roll - Spicy Tuna (raw), Cucumbers, Avocado Spread & Spicy Aioli for $10. * crab hand roll - Surimi Crab, Cucumbers, Avocado Spread & Spicy Aioli. Normally $10 but free for spending over $40! * lava nachos - Tuna Picante (raw), Corn Tortilla Chips, Melted Pepper Jack Cheese, Avocado Spread, Nori Strips & Spicy Aioli for $11.49. I would pass on this. The chips tasted stale and they were stuck together in clumps that were too soggy to even separate. * horchata genmai - Earthy horchata, nutty green tea, and toasted brown rice for $4.

This place is very convenient as it is located near Montgomery BART and all of the neighboring offices! I ordered a beef sushirrito because I wasn't feeling seafood today but still enjoyed it. I would say the sauce makes all the difference. I don't think it was anything particularly special and not super cheap either so I don't think I'd go again unless I wanted seafood/fish. Ambiance was nice, theres quite a bit of seating compared to neighboring restaurants and service was quick!

Salmon Samba - To-go order
Anny L.

This has been one of my go-to spots for awhile now. What I usually order: SALMON SAMBA: 5/5; I get this every single time I'm here, without fail. The combination of flavors is on point. This is random, but the BEST part is the breaded fried asparagus in the burrito. The burrito is giant, so eating half is more than filling. I've had the other half for the next day, and it was still just as delicious as the day before. The cost is roughly 20 bucks. Yes, it sounds expensive, BUT the average price of a regular sushi roll (depending on what you get) is roughly 20 bucks anyways. They have the online ordering option. I usually just stop in and order at the counter. The order is literally ready in less than 5 min. Staff is super friendly. Highly recommended!

The one with the raw salmon.

Adam S! You nailed it. I almost felt the need not to write a review since yours says it all and so much more eloquently than I can. But anyways, here goes. I used to go to one of the locations at 11am 2-3 times a week because when they opened was the only time that the line would be 10-15 minutes or less. Closer to lunchtime people would line up around the block for these things. I went multiple times a week because I craved multiple rolls and could only eat one at a time. This is no longer that place. This is a tiny place with three tables. Walked in at about 12:30 and snagged one. No wait and no line at all. The vibe in there used to be that you felt lucky to have finally gotten to the front of the line and you were in for something special! Now...it's depressing. It feels like they are dying a slow business death. As Adam said, in those days the workers were different. The owner was often there and the staff was bright eyed and moved with purpose. The assembly line of roll making hummed like a well oiled machine and was almost something of a show. Now? About what you'd expect at a slow fast food place amid a sea of mostly slow fast food places on Kearny St. There were three women working and between them they knew enough English to take an order but not enough to answer a simple question about the food. Back then the Salmon Samba was kind of par-cooked. Not really cooked through as it was still orange, but soft enough that it literally melted in your mouth. One of the best things I have ever eaten, and I can't count how many I must have had over the years. After years away from the Bay Area was back last week and craving this. The fish this time was typical fast food salmon - white, overcooked, and dry as a bone. Also tried the other salmon one (which is raw) and it was pretty decent. Initially struggled with giving the place 3 stars because I should be judging it based on what it is now vs what it used to be. And what it is now the food (besides the Salmon Samba) is pretty solid. Good even. It's tasty and unique. On the other hand, when I read some of the reviews before I wrote this I did see a theme about it being overpriced. These things are creeping up on $20. Is it worth it? IDK. Not sure that I agree with it being overpriced as prices for everything now are crazy, but I do wish at that price point there was a little more of something special here.

Did you get rid of your only vegan option? The Edamale doesn't appear to be available anymore :(

Hi Melissa, we unfortunately had to permanently remove The Edamale due to supply chain issues. However, we will be launching a new vegan sushi burrito soon, so please stay posted!

Are gift cards available?

Unfortunately the stores don't, but if you look up the gift cards online, other sites actually sell them!

Do they have vegetarian/vegan options? Like tofu?

Yes! They have tofu and other veggie options

Can you get a sushi burrito without rice?

Yes you can!

Does Sushiritto still offer Mayan Dragon?

In January, it was still part of the menu.

How spicy is their Buddha Belly (From 1-10)? I'm clearly not a spice kind of girl.

Hi Katie, the Buddha Belly is mildly spicy. Hope this helps!

Are there gluten free options?

Yes, they do have them - I just asked as I reached the register for you :)

We called to ask about a walk-ins, and they told us they could get us a spot in 20 minutes on a Saturday at ~7:45 p.m. We had: - Scallop skewers: 5/5, I've never had scallop skewers this good. So creamy, juicy, and tender - Uni toast: 5/5, perfect ratio between the toast and the uni. The toast was super soft. It just paired really well with all the other ingredients. Seasoned also perfectly - Heavenly salmon roll: 5/5, before eating this, we were so skeptical because we saw imitation crab which usually overpowers everything but WOW. It just paired so perfectly. - Snow mountain roll: 5/5, love the acidity on this. - Okaeri donburi: 4/5, felt like too much rice for the ingredients that were on it, but still enjoyed it. The level of execution and attention to detail on some of these dishes was insane. It's so rare that places nail so many dishes. I cannot wait to go back!!! Still dreaming of this meal.

The first time I came here, I got the strawberry matcha latte with my friends. We ordered it via delivery on DoorDash, and I'm not sure if it's just the whole delivery part, but I could not taste any part of the strawberry! It just tasted like regular cream on top. Typically I'm more of a coffee person than matcha, so I'm not a great judge in whether this was good matcha or not. But I guess it did taste ok in my opinion. The funny thing is, my coworker also said the same thing when she ordered the strawberry matcha latte a separate time! Disappointing. A separate time, we also ordered from them via delivery. This time I was eager to try their food items instead, since they have a pretty interesting selection, like those cake sandwiches and various Japanese items. I got the spam masubi, which I thought would be a solid choice. It did arrive warm, but the slice of spam that was in the masubi was so thin! It was the thinnest piece of spam I had ever gotten, and I've gotten spam masubis at a variety of places including ABC stores and other places in Hawaii, and even various stores in the States. The rice was okay, some brown rice thing with seasoning, that was decent but not my preferred white rice. Overall my two times here have been disappointing. I will really never line up for this place in person, nor will I understand why people do.
